Supernatural Season 6, Episode 13, Unforgiven recap 🕷️ Mysterious coordinates lead the boys to Bristol, Rhode Island, a town soulless Sam worked with Grandpa Samuel a year ago, and as black-and-white flashbacks start breaking through, Sam realizes he left a mess behind, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

Men went missing in Bristol last year, and now it's women. Sam is determined to atone for whatever he did, even if he can't remember it, and Dean thinks walking into an obvious trap is a terrible idea. (He loves saying I told you so.) Between a married woman (Pauline Egan) who DEFINITELY remembers Sam, a deputy (William Vaughan) he beat up, and the missing sheriff's wife, Brenna (Miranda Frigon), the flashbacks paint a picture of a soulless hunter who made some cold choices. And the monster? Spider-y, multi-pupiled, and building a nest.

Episode Highlights:

  • The black-and-white flashbacks (Sam, you saw that sign and said NOTHING?)
  • Dean's Mel Gibson possession theory
  • Crazy Eyes McGee (we didn't see it either)
  • The poop deck at the seafood restaurant, and Sam's very memorable visit there last year
  • Dean, impressed with how much soulless Sam got around
  • Our theory: those dilapidated houses are hunter safe houses
  • Soulless Sam's plan for Sheriff Roy (Joe Holt) was somehow worse than letting Dean get turned in Live Free or Twihard
  • A zoom into Sam's eye that mirrors Dean's in No Rest for the Wicked (the wall is cracking)

In the lore segment, we dig into Arachne of Greek mythology: the gifted Lydian weaver who challenged Athena to a contest, wove 21 scenes of the gods' scandals (Zeus as a swan, a bull, and a shower of gold, among others), and was turned into a spider for her audacity. It's also why spiders are called arachnids.

"I gotta say, man, you really got around. I mean, soulless or not, I'm actually kind of impressed." – Dean Winchester

Your turn, hunters: Is Sam responsible for what he did without a soul? And did this one land for you, or are we being too harsh?
