Jennie, hi everyone. Jennie, here, so today, this is going to be a special bonus episode of the Alaska uncovered podcast. I may start doing some bonus episodes here and there, if there's updates about things that are happening in real time, or just extra things I want to share with you. As you may know, many of the interviews that we do with our guests happen throughout the course of the fall, winter and spring, and so often, most of the time when you're listening to the episode, it's been recorded a while before, and people are waiting for quite a while after they do their interview for their episode to come up. So when I have special things I want to add in like this. I'll probably do that as a bonus, instead of the regular weekly episode. And I also wanted to tell you that I am going to move the podcast day to Tuesday, starting this week from Wednesday. So we'll be dropping into your feed every Tuesday, instead of every Wednesday, starting tomorrow. So today's episode is a really special one. One of the most wonderful things about doing this podcast is connecting with people in a way that can be really hard to do over the internet, and podcasting is such a special way to do that, and connecting with all of you, connecting with our guests, is really what makes this really fun and special. So thank you for listening, and just a big thank you to everyone who's come on the podcast as a guest to share their story or anything else about their business or their town, anything like that. So what we're gonna do today, today, I thought it'd be good. There have been so many different businesses in Alaska that have wanted to offer discounts to those of you who listen to Alaska uncovered, which is wonderful, and I thought it would be helpful once or twice a year to just do an episode that's a roundup of all of those in one place, because otherwise they can be a little bit difficult to find. So all of the businesses in Alaska that are offering discounts to you as podcast listeners, they are all small, locally owned businesses. These are all businesses with a small number of employees. Often the owner is working, almost always very directly in the business and cares deeply about your experience. And I know that all of us are eager to find ways that we can support small businesses at least. I hope we are when we travel. And so that is one thing I wanted to tell you about everyone. The other thing I wanted to mention is there are many amazing tours and lodging options and different things that you can do in Alaska that aren't offering discounts. And I just want you to know that doesn't mean they're not amazing. Discounts in Alaska travel are hard to come by, and so just because they're not being offered to you, that doesn't mean that company isn't amazing and you shouldn't book with them, because, of course, you should. Everyone who comes on to this podcast is vetted by Jay or I to make sure that they will be sharing whatever it is that they have with you, whether it's a business that can help give you an amazing tour experience or a lodging experience in Alaska, or it's just someone who has a great story to share. Regardless, it's really important to us that we're only bringing on folks who can really enhance your experience in Alaska, whether that's when you're listening to the podcast, or whether you're when you're actually on your trip. So that's super important. Okay, a couple other things about these discounts. So I am going to put in the show notes a link to the page on my website that has all of these in one place. I will also list each one individually, so I'm going to tell you about them in this episode. The links are like too long to read, so I'll tell you what the codes are, but in some cases, there's not a code, and you'll actually have to click. On the link from the show notes or from that page on my website in order to get the discount. And I'll tell you which it is as we go. I'd love to have you support these awesome businesses, because they know how important this podcast is and how hard it is to find good information when you're getting ready to travel. And so in addition to offering you a discount, we also receive a small commission when you book through them, and that helps support the podcast as well. So this is wonderful for everybody, and these businesses get to have amazing travelers like you come and stay with them or go on tour with them. I also wanted to let you know that I'm going to offer a discount on my online shop to all of you podcast listeners as well. So that link will also be in the show notes, and you'll get 10% off of all of my done for you, itineraries and my planning tools that I have in the shop, including my on demand workshops and all that stuff. So the code for that is podcast, and you can use that at shop.ordinary-adventures.com, and again, that link and that code will be in the show notes. Okay, well, let's dive into all these awesome businesses that want to offer these discounts to you. Here we go. They're in no particular order. These are all awesome so, and there are quite a few, so I'm just going to start running through them and i Here we go. Okay, the first one is blue water base camp and blue water base camp, Russ and Teal who are the owners of this wonderful new property. They were on the podcast on July 3 of 2024 that was episode 73 and we talked about Blue Water base camp in great detail, but just to briefly recap here, blue water base camp is located near ikna lake, and it's got beautiful cabins. It's designed to be kind of out there and having a nature experience, but still super comfortable, and all those little touches that make something feel really special. And they also have several cabins that are wheelchair accessible. They have several that are pet friendly, so just keep that in mind, this is a wonderful place, in an amazing location, about 45 minutes from Anchorage. You don't need a code to get the 5% discount as a podcast listener, but you will need to follow the link that's in the show notes and that's also on my discount page in order to automatically get that discount. So thank you blue water base camp and Russ and teal for offering this to everybody. All right. The next one is sunny Cove kayaking, which is located in Seward. And Sunny Cove has been on the podcast a few times. So Stephanie, who's the owner of sunny Cove kayaking, was on the podcast in February, episode 106 and we talked about Seward. We talked about winter and Seward. We talked about kayaking in Seward, which is what sunny Cove does, and it's just a wonderful thing to do in Seward. And also, Stephanie was on our women owned Alaska businesses episode in November. And also Danny and Andrew, who have both been kayak guides with Sunny Cove. Also have a podcast called The Last Frontier podcast, which is also about Alaska. So you should definitely check that out if you like this one. And they came on and did an episode with us last summer, in July 2024 it was episode 76 and we also talked quite a bit about steward there. So Thank you Stephanie, thank you sunny Cove kayaking. You also for Sunny Cove, you don't need to use a code. You just follow the link that's in the show notes to get a 5% discount. Or you can also find it on my discount page, and you can follow the link there, and you'll automatically get the discount. Next up, we have revel Treks and tours in Palmer and Kierre, who is the owner of revel Treks and tours, has been on the podcast. Was on in October, Episode 88 and we talked about Palmer and some of the really fun things you can do there. Also she was as well on that episode in November, where we had several women owned small businesses in Alaska that talked about that experience. So this is a great opportunity to save 10% on any rebel tour. So they're located in Palmer, and they do hiking tours as well as food related agriculture tours, history tours in Palmer all year round, different options different times of year. So that is a wonderful opportunity to get out and do some hiking. So for that one, you are going to use a code to save 10% and the code is Palmer uncovered. And again, you can find that in the show notes. Thank you Kierre and thank you rebel treks and tours. Next up we have k2 aviation, which is located in Talkeetna, and k2 aviation, among other things, does flight scene tours over Denali National Park and of Denali the mountain, you can also, and I would really encourage you to do this splurge, just a little more to do a glacier landing. It's really, really incredible. So for k2 aviation, we also had an episode with them. It was in February of 2024, Episode 54 we talked all about it. And for k2 you can save 10% with the code Alaska uncovered. And flight scene is expensive, so this is a good one. All right. Thank you k2 for offering this to our listeners. All right, next up, we have k2 sister company, rusts Flying Service, and they're located in Anchorage, and they do a variety of different flight scene trips. The one we've talked about on the podcast is bear viewing. That's not the only option, but that's one we've talked about two times in October and December last fall. That's episode 89 and 96 in the first one in October, I shared about my experience going bear viewing in Lake Clark National Park with rusts. And then later on Cole from cole Chambers from rusts came on, and we talked about, kind of all the different bear viewing options they have, because they have quite a few. So if you're looking to get out and do some bear viewing from Anchorage. This is a great way to do it, so you can also save 10% so this is with rusts Flying Service in Anchorage, and the code also is Alaska uncovered. So thank you, rusts for offering this to our listeners. Next up we're we're getting to almost the halfway point here. Next up we have above and beyond Alaska in Juneau, and above and beyond Alaska offers all kinds of adventures in Juneau, anything from pack rafting to to canoeing, to flying out to see bears and glaciers and all kinds of just wonderful adventures above and beyond Alaska was on the podcast in February, episode 105, so go back and listen to that if you want to know more about this and Juneau, this is just a wonderful opportunity in Juneau, really, to get out away from it all, and for above and beyond, you can save 10% with the code Juno uncovered. So Thank you Becky and Liz for offering that and above and beyond Alaska offering this to our listeners. All right. The next one we have is Stan Stephens cruises, which is located in Valdez, and this is such a cool tour. They have a couple tours, but they are going to be coming on the podcast in July to talk more about the town of Valdez and about Stan Stephens cruises. This is a tour that I get to do several times a summer with my guests on tour. It's part of. Of a couple of the different tours that I do, which is how I got to know them. Valdez is a little off the beaten track, so you can also save 10% on one of their amazing glacier and wildlife cruises with the code a K uncovered. And that's a great way to see glaciers and wildlife in a spot that's a little farther away than some of the busy tourist areas. But Valdez is so worth the effort. You'll hear more about that in July, when we have that episode up. Okay, next up, everyone, we've got Kennecott wilderness guides in Wrangell St-Elias National Park. Avery, who is one of their guides. She came on the podcast in May 2024, that was episode 66 and we talked about her life growing up in McCarthy, which is pretty unique, and also what it's like to be a guide there, and the recommendations that she has for visitors who come to Wrangell St-Elias National Park. So for that, so Kendra Kennecott wilderness guides is the company that she works for, and they are offering you a 5% discount on any of their tours that start from McCarthy, and for that, you're going to use the code uncovered. Kennicott, wilderness guides, thank you for offering this to our listeners. Next up, we have Breathe Alaska, and if you are going to Juneau on your trip, and you're looking for something really unique and to really, really, honestly, kind of change your life. Don't miss out on the opportunity to do one of Cindee's amazing tours. Cindee is going to be on the podcast in July so you can learn more about breathe Alaska then, but she offers breath work opportunities and experiences in Juno's rain forest. You really get to get away from it all. Juneau can be a very busy port. It is a very busy port, but with Cindee, you get to really get away from everything, really be immersed in nature and really help calm your body and learn techniques that you can take home and really just be able to integrate into your life. And I've been really lucky to learn a lot from Cindee, and so if you want to book an opportunity with her while you're in Juneau, you can do that. The code for a 10% discount is podcast. So thank you, Cindee, for offering this to our listeners. Next up, we have great land adventures. And Steve from great land adventures was on the podcast in April of 2024 that was episode 61 and in that episode, we talked about visiting Matanuska glacier, which you can do in several different ways with great land you can do a day trip with transportation from Anchorage and a small group tour. They offer it in both summer and winter, and you can save 10% on any great land tour with the code Alaska uncovered 10 and Steve is going to be back in September. We're going to be talking a little bit about the Northern Lights. And by the way, you can use that code for great lands Northern Lights tours as well in both Anchorage and Fairbanks. Okay, we just have a couple more everybody. So the next one is explore Kenai, and that is fishing on the Kenai Peninsula with Dallas Voss and Dallas is just wonderful. I know from talking to many of you that you have listened to the episode with Dallas, which was back in May of 2024, Episode 67 and I, lots of people tell me, I want to go fishing with Dallas. And anyway, so she offers lots of great fishing opportunities on the Kenai Peninsula. So you can listen to that episode to learn more about it. But if you would like to book a fishing trip with Dallas, you need to call her. So I'm going to tell you the number. I'll also put it in the show notes along with everything else, but you're going to give her a call at 907 6906 477, and use the code Kenai, that's k, e, n, a, i, a, k, p, and yes, you just you have to call because she does not do online bookings. So lastly, before we wrap up today, and thank you so much Dallas for offering this discount to our listeners. All right, finally, we've got Aurora Dora, and Dora is going to be on the podcast soon, in early May, and it's one of our story episodes where we talk about her journey coming to Alaska and getting into photography and getting into Northern Lights photography, and her gallery in Tel kitna is a place that you you just have to go and see if you're in Tel kita, you have to go in. It's an amazing experience. It's a very small space, but the walls are covered in her gorgeous metal prints of the Aurora. And so if you are going to talk kitna Dora, who, by the way, is a big fan of the podcast for a long time. She is happy to give you a 10% discount on any of her metal prints, but you've got to be there in person. So this doesn't apply to online sales. This is like in her cabin in her gallery in Talkeetna, and if you're there, you're gonna meet Dora, so just tell her that you heard about her on the podcast, or that Jennie told you to go in and check it out. And if you want to get one of those beautiful metal prints, then she'll give you 10% off. Thank you, Dora, for supporting the podcast so enthusiastically for so long, and also for offering this discount to our listeners. So I want to just once again, thank every single one of the folks offering these discounts to you. It's a it's a really big deal. It's wonderful. It helps me, it helps you, it helps them. I want to really encourage you to support these businesses, and I also want to thank each of them for their time in coming on the podcast, whether their episode has already aired or whether it's coming up in the next couple of months. So thanks to all of you for listening, and I hope this helps you identify some great opportunities in Alaska and some ways to save a bit of money. See you tomorrow.
