Welcome to the Alaska Uncovered Podcast with me, your host, Jennie Thwing Flaming, my occasional co-host and full-time husband, Jay, and I bring you accurate, helpful, and entertaining information about Alaska Travel and life in Alaska.
Hi everyone, it's Jennie.
Today is our fourth episode in this last week of the year, many episodes about planning your Alaska 2026 trip. And this is the middle one, um, for looking at discounts on opportunities for you. My amazing podcast listeners. So. Today I am p pumped to tell you about some opportunities for you in Southeast Alaska.
So we're gonna talk about four different things today when we're talking about southeast Alaska or the inside passage as it's sometimes called. And, uh, this, there's so many wonderful things to do there. Um. All of, so three of the four things I'm gonna talk about today are things you can do either on a cruise or traveling on your own.
And then the fourth one, which will be the first one I talk about, is going to be for those of you traveling on your own, not on a cruise to Glacier Bay National Park. And I just wanna remind you that a few days ago, in the first episode of this mini series. Or maybe it was the second one I mentioned that one of my favorite ways to travel my, one of my favorite places to travel on your own in Alaska is Juneau and Glacier Bay.
So, uh, you can, you can use this episode to plan that whole trip out. So let's start with Glacier. Okay. Glacier Bay National Park is incredible. Uh, 97% I believe of visitors are on cruise ships. If you are lucky enough to get the chance to, or you decide to visit Glacier Bay on your own, and you're willing to dedicate four days to that, uh, which I think is necessary, you are going to have.
The most amazing national park experience. It's just wonderful. Okay, so. You can even get a discount on that, and this one is brand new. And just shout out to Tracy for her help in making this possible to get this code activated by the deadline for recording this podcast, which was a bit of a squeeze. So Tracy, you're a rockstar.
So this one is for the Glacier Bay Lodge. And the Glacier Bay Day. Glacier Bay Day boat tour. So there are other places to stay in Gustavus. One thing you have to think about with Glacier Bay is if you don't stay at the lodge or camp in the campground, how are you gonna get back and forth? To the park because Gus Davis is about 10 miles away.
So there's other options. But what we're gonna focus on today is Glacier Bay Lodge, which is, um, the Glacier Bay National Park Hotel. The Park Concessionaire, Aramark, uh, is offering this discount to you. So this is pretty cool and unique and I am really excited about it, if you can't tell. Alright, so let me give you the scoop.
So. Uh, I'm going to put the link. In the show notes, you should be able to use the code just by, you know, finding the website on Google to reserve Glacier Bay. But for reasons that are boring and not worth getting into here, it's possible you will need to use this link that I'm putting in the show notes.
So just keep that in mind. Okay, so for the, uh, this is so awesome. Like discounts on these things are just so hard to get, I'm so excited about this. Okay, so for Glacier Bay Lodge, they're offering a 10% discount to you with the code Alaska Pod. It's all capital letters and they are also offering a 10% discount on the Glacier Bay Day boat tour, which is an absolute must do in Glacier Bay and National Park.
Uh, it's like a six or seven, eight hour day, something like that. And you go out on a small boat, uh, you get close to the glaciers. There's a ranger on board. They do a great. Job. So don't miss that if you're going to Glacier Bay. So you can also save 10% on that. This code is, um, it's actually called a group promo code, so you don't need to worry about that, but it's a little bit harder for me to read, so I'm gonna read it a couple times.
I'll put it in the show notes as well. It is three K five M. So it's sort of like a license plate of letters and numbers. So let me read it one more time. Three K, five, m, m. All right. So that one is super exciting. So for those of you who are going either on your own or by cruise, and you are going to have, uh, some time in Juneau.
Lucky you. Most people on cruises have time in Juneau. Uh, not all, but most do. I love Juneau. Um, fun fact, we have more episodes about Juneau than any other specific location in the entire catalog of Alaska uncovered podcasts, all 157 episodes, and we have more coming in 2026. So let me talk about three of them today.
So the first one is Breathe Alaska. This is such a unique and special tour. Cindy came onto the podcast this summer, July 15th, episode 1 31, and she has started this amazing small company where she does forest experiences focused around breathing and slowing down and being in nature in Juneau. This is such an incredible and unique experience.
You don't wanna miss this during your time in Juneau. If you're not convinced, go back and listen to that episode because it was so wonderful having Cindy on. Okay, so you get a done. Okay, so it is a 10% discount. With the code podcast and you don't need to follow any particular link. I will put the link in the show notes, but you don't have to, uh, follow it to use the code.
So just the code podcast and you'll save 10%. Another awesome tour company in Juneau. If you wanna go, the opposite direction for a big adventure is above and beyond Alaska. Becky and Liz came on the podcast in February of 2025, episode 1 0 5. And in that episode we talked about ways to get away from it all and off the beaten path in Juneau.
So whether you're traveling there on your own or you're on a busy cruise ship and you really wanna get out there, um, they do. Pack rafting trips. They do bear viewing trips. They do kayaking trips. They do so many wonderful things, so you can save 10% with them. Also with the code Juneau uncovered, and Juneau is spelled J-U-N-E-A-U.
So Juneau uncovered. And finally, this is another new discount that we've just gotten together this year. I am, or this fall. I am so excited to bring you a discount for Juneau Lighthouse Tours. And one thing that is amazing about Juneau Lighthouse Tours is that Jamie and Lewis, who own this company and have for many years, they came on one of the earliest.
Podcasts. In fact, it was episode five in March of 2023 and they came on and talked about Juneau Lighthouse tours and they're coming back. So this year in March, we're gonna have Jamie and Lewis back on the podcast to talk specifically about whale watching in Juneau. So the code that I'm going to give you is just for the Lighthouse tour.
But it is basically the whale watching tour. Plus. So it's still whale watching, right. So that's what I wanna make sure. You know, and the reason it's so unique is it's a little bit longer of a whale watching tour and you get to spend a little bit of time on a private island with a lighthouse. Um, it's really cool and unique.
I know. It's a wonderful tour. So, um. We're gonna have them back to talk about why whale watching and Juneau is so amazing in March. But until then, I definitely don't miss out on the chance to do the Juneau Lighthouse tour. It's also, it's a small group. It's a beautiful new boat. Ah, it's just such a great tour.
Okay, so you can save 10% on that with the code Alaska. Uncovered. So that is it for Southeast Alaska, least for this year. We'll see what happens in the future. I'll put links to all of these places and the codes in the show notes along with my, um, kind of roundup article on my website with all of them for all of Alaska.
And we'll have our last discount episode tomorrow.
I'll talk to you tomorrow. 📍 Bye for now.
