In this special bonus episode, Jennie shares all the details about the trip and the itinerary Jennie and Jay are leading June 6-14, 2026. This completely unique itinerary is designed by Jennie and will be guided by Jennie and Jay. Registration is open until Feb 12 or until the remaining two rooms are filled.
Hi everyone, it's Jennie this is one of those episodes that I throw in every now and then outside of our regular Thursday episodes because I don't wanna take away from that flow for you. Often with guests, but sometimes I like to break in with a little bonus about something special.
So that's what I'm doing today, and I want to share with you a little bit more detail about the trip that Jay and I are leading in June, from June 6th through 14th. It's called Authentic Alaska. And now that the holidays are behind us and people are getting back into the groove, I wanted to share a little more about it with you, as I did back in November
We have two rooms. Left. We have five people who've already registered. They are wonderful and I'm really excited to have two to four of you join them. So we have two rooms left. And actually with the folks that registered so quickly in November. I decided to add that extra room. The maximum group size will be nine people, and it might be smaller than that.
If a single person takes one of those rooms, then it would be less than nine. So let me share a little bit about. Why this trip is so special and so exciting. So one of the people who's coming is someone who's asked me for some time to put together a trip like this. So it's kind of fun that that's really happened.
I've always wanted to do something like this. I love my job where someone else pays me to take people around Alaska and the Yukon. It's really fun and I'm not giving that up. I'm not going to start doing this. Instead, this would just be something that Jay and I may do once a year. In different parts of Alaska or in a rotation of some kind.
With this trip, I just thought it would be so fun to put together a dreamy itinerary that works well because of all my experience as a guide and just offer something super unique, super authentic, and hyper local, which is.
Really not possible to do at scale. That's why this is just gonna be, a maybe once a year thing. I'm not committing to that yet. I'm just committing to doing this one. So what I have put together is a trip that includes the things that people really wanna see when they come to Alaska, which is wildlife, glaciers, and mountains.
So there's lots of research, in the Alaska travel industry that shows that. But it also is, are the things that people tell me all the time when they hire me to plan their trips that they want to do. So I wanted to make that happen without staying in any anonymous corporate hotels and without going to any crowded places.
So that was a really fun challenge, and that's why I put this trip together. So this has your name on it. If you're feeling overwhelmed, you want someone else to do all the work. You wanna know what the price is gonna be right up front without any surprises. So just to answer that question, and this is all
on the,, sales page, so you can go see all of this. But it's basically $9,000 a person and it includes everything, right? So there's no surprises. It includes gratuities. Jay and I will not accept gratuities on this trip, and we will cover the gratuities.
Everywhere we go. The food is all included. Everything is included. We are gonna make a couple stops at lunchtime at like food trucks that aren't included, just for practical reasons, but we're also bringing plenty of picnic supplies, so you could leave your credit card at home and do this trip. You might wanna have it anyway 'cause you might wanna buy something or get something in the airport, but everything you need will be included.
No surprises, no upcharges, nothing like that. We are gonna be traveling in two suburbans. Jay and I are each driving one, so no uncomfortable back seats of a van, no buses. I love buses and vans, but that we're not doing that on this trip. This is a super. Super small experience where we're doing everything the way we want it.
You know, we're including a flight scene trip to land on a glacier in Denali National Park. Nobody includes that. You know, we're going to these small places that big groups can't go. Yeah, we'll see some other visitors when we're in Homer. We'll see some other visitors when we're in Anchorage.
We'll see some other visitors when we're in talkeetna, but, everywhere we're staying is small, locally owned, super cool places to stay. And Jay and I will drive you. Around everywhere and take you everywhere you need to go. And we're gonna have a really wonderful time. So I'm so excited that this is happening, and I should make it clear that even though we do still have two rooms, this trip is definitely happening.
We have already met the minimum people we need for it to go. So that's not in question. It's just a matter of whether other people are gonna book these last two rooms or whether we're gonna give them back. I really feel like the right people who need to be with us are going to hear this and be excited and ask me your questions.
Please don't be shy about asking questions about it. Registration is closing in three weeks on February 12th, so even if nobody else books, registration will still close then because we need to firm up everything, shortly after that with all the different wonderful tour operators and, lodges that we're staying at.
So I hope if you feel like this has your name on it. I hope that you will register, and I hope that you'll ask questions that you have. I'm not gonna pressure you into doing this. First of all, there's not enough space to pressure people into doing this, but also, that's not my style, but I would love to help you figure out if this is right for you, and I'll happily tell you if it is not, I wanna make sure everyone who joins us has an unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
Just a few other details about exactly what we're gonna do. You know, you can read the page on my website for even more details about the itinerary and that sort of thing. I'll put the URL in the show notes, but just to tell you what it is, here verbally as well. It's ordinary adventures.com. So that's my main.
Website, and then the page is slash authentic dash Alaska dash June 26. So, once again, all the information about everything, pricing, what's included, photos free, you know, different things that you need to know. So once again, it's ordinary adventures.com. Slash authentic dash, Alaska dash June 26, and then there are links there to the registration button.
So a couple questions people have asked. One is about getting national park stamps. We will be going to both Denali and Lake Clark National Park on this tour and. Where we're going is difficult to get stamps, but the Park Service has a plan for this because Alaska has lots of remote parks. So we'll be going to the Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Anchorage to get, national Park Passport stamps for everyone who wants those.
And just pro tip, even if you're not coming with us, if you do , go into a remote park and can't get a stamp and you're collecting them, you can go to any of the four Alaska public lands information centers to get one. That's Anchorage, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, and Toque at the moment. Hopefully they all stay open.
Alright, so let me tell you a little bit about what we're doing
We are gonna stay our first night at the Copper Wheel Inn in downtown Anchorage, and then the next day we'll be traveling down to Soldotalkeetna and staying at some cute cabins down there. And we'll be making some stops along the way,
And then the next day we're going to drive down to Homer and. And fly over to Snug Harbor. Outpost. A Snug Harbor has been on the podcast a couple times and we're gonna spend, a couple nights out at Snug Harbor.
This is just an amazing. Place and we're gonna be there at the perfect time in June to see bears and we'll get to do long leisurely small group Uncrowded brown bear viewing in the park in Lake Clark, and we'll get to explore some other beaches and bird areas and Lake Clark National Park as well. And we also have plenty of free time at Snug Harbor for enjoying the fire pit, the sauna, that kind of thing.
Then when we leave Lake Clark, we'll be going to the Eklutalkeetna Valley to stay at Bluewater Base. Camp Bluewater has also been on the podcast, and it is such a wonderful place to stay near Anchorage, but very far from the city. And we'll have, uh, plenty of free time there on our full day in the Eklutalkeetna Valley.
This is a local favorite for hiking, biking, um, kayaking, and all that's included for people who want to do it. And Jay, and I'll drive you around to Trailhead or anywhere that you wanna go, and we'll also.
Okay. So after we leave, Eklutalkeetna will be spending a day in Palmer. We're gonna get to do a wonderful, um, tour with Revel Trek and Tours. That's a private tour just for us. They'll take us to a couple of farms in Palmer. And a really mellow hike. And then we have an included farm lunch that I'm super excited about.
And then the last leg of the trip will be in talkeetna and we'll be staying at the talkeetna View Lodge and cabins. Dawn, who's the owner, was on the podcast back in October. She was on the podcast in the very beginning to, talking about helicopters. Anyway, so we're gonna stay at her wonderful little place near talkeetna and uh, then we'll have some time to explore talkeetna and have an awesome dinner there.
And we will be doing a flight scene tour into Denali and landing on. One of the glaciers in Denali National Park, weather permitting. So that is not a guarantee, a fingers crossed for us to have awesome weather. So we can do that. And yes. We're going with K two Aviation. You've heard them on the podcast before, so Yes, it is very exciting.
So I hope if this feels like it has your name on it. To do all this without having to worry about anything without any surprise costs, then please join us. We would love, love, love to have you. And like I said, I, you can read all about it on my website. You can register there. And if you want to ask questions about it, feel free to email me.
My email address is jen@ordinaryadventures.com and you're welcome to just email me and ask your questions. Alright, well thank you for listening.
