May is a big month for awareness. It is Celiac Awareness Month, Food Allergy and Asthma Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Asian American Pacific Islander Month. To highlight awareness for Celiac disease and food allergies, I am focusing our conversations with Louisville Ky local warriors and advocates. Annie May opened the first dedicated gluten-free and Top9Allergy Free Bakery in Louisville, Ky, in 2011. Her journey with Celiac disease and her food allergies led to her creating this bakery. While baking sweet treats is fun, it is not always as easy as one might think to run a bakery. Annie May shares her rises and falls from starting out to opening up the bakery, covid, and now in 2023.
