Speaker 1:And let's get right into this episode Now soulful traveling. If you want your soulful traveling a little bit more luxurious, you can listen to episode 55, the one before this. That's part one. But if you are interested as well as a more economical soulful travel, then this is the episode for you. So, firstly, I wanted to say that in this experience that you are going to consider to have, you can really make good use of your local town, your city, where you're at. You can really do staycations as well and it could still be soulful and also you can do some local retreats as well. So if you want to explore a more budget friendly, soulful travel, then I would suggest firstly for you to look at in your area, right, or even a little bit outside of your area, but still in the same, maybe, city. There are many wellness retreats that you can experience. You can also experience some Airbnb as well and they can really provide some great tranquil homes that you can really explore and it could be close by to your home. So maybe you don't have to travel far but you can take that break and make it very soulful and experience that really transforms you. Whether you're doing this solo, you can do some staycations, you can go to some Airbnbs in your area and still have a great, peaceful, enjoyable, soulful experience as well.
Speaker 1:And the transportation, right If you're doing it. I want to talk a little bit here about maybe some of the costs. But if you're doing it locally, you check with your local transportation. But you may be doing gas right, you might have a car and maybe going where your home is at, the transportation could vary from 20 to $50. If you are taking, if you're taking your car, your own car and you have to put gas, or maybe you do public transportation so on average it could be like maybe 20, 50 bucks right, and the accommodation per night, depending the Airbnb that you stay it could be. Also, you can explore a hotel that's more economical, that's a budget hotel as well, and that could range for the night anywhere from 50 to a hundred dollars per night, and the different activities that you can do when you are maybe sticking of a tree or Airbnb or having a staycation. You can do some great activities, and that could be maybe you do a free yoga class. Sometimes, depending where you're at, they may offer a free yoga class.
Speaker 1:You may have a DIY spa day, right when you do it yourself spa day. If you're in a staycation, you can get some flowers, you can get some lavender, do a bubble bath. If it's in a staycation, or even if you do an Airbnb and you want to do this for yourself, you can pick up these items to make it a beautiful spa day for yourself. If you're doing it with someone else, if you're experiencing this with your partner if it's an intimate partner maybe you give each other massages as well. If you're experiencing this with your partner, if it's an intimate partner, maybe you give each other massages as well. If you're doing this with your girlies or a group of friends, maybe within that group, let's think creatively. Maybe you have someone with a friend of yours that within that group she does. She knows how to do petties and manis and maybe you want to do it. You want to do manis to each other and have fun with it and get creative, put some light, music just something that can be very relaxing for yourself or for the people that you may do this with.
Speaker 1:You may have this soulful staycation with your bestie, just you and your bestie and your friend. It might be you and your hubby or your BF, right, your boyfriend. So this still can be economical because, like I said, the transportation you could do public transportation or if you already have your car and you can maybe fill up the tank, and it's not that much money. It all depends and it could be just a short weekend trip and on average, it can cost you maybe, right, if it's a staycation, around $70 to $200, depending what you do, okay, so that's a great idea for you. You can also do a camping trip. That can be soulful because you're connecting to nature, right, and you may decide to go to your local state park. You may decide to go to a camp that's national and make an activity of it. You can go with your bestie as well. You can go solo if you would like.
Speaker 1:I would encourage you that, if you go solo, always be safe. I broke down the safety tips in episode 55, but I can share with you here if you want more details on that in travel, because it's the same safety trips for the most part. But you got to make sure that wherever you go, you have emergency contacts that are back home. If you are staying home and you just don't want to be disturbed, just making sure you let folks that that you know that. Hey, I'm going to stay home and I'm having this two day or weekend where I'm going to disconnect from the phone and decompress. But make sure that people know what you're doing so, just in case there's an emergency, they know where to reach you in case of emergencies, right, this is not just a chit chat Making sure that if you want to do some nature trips, make sure that you, ahead of time, you know what the parks right, the National Park for camping, what are their rules, and make sure that you are very prepared for that.
Speaker 1:If you just want to make it a day out of it and you just want to go on a hike in the trail, you can do that as well, but it's good to immerse yourself with nature. The previous episode I gave some great locations and ideas, but it's a little bit more lucrative, right. But regardless of if it's economical or a little bit more lucrative, you always want to make sure that you're practicing safety and that you are being very strategic about your budget, so making sure that it's right that you're doing the best that you can with the budget that you have. So, in camping, the transportation, depending how far you're going to go, right, it could be anything from $30 to a hundred dollars, right. And then if you're going to stay at a campsite, on average you got to research your area, but in general it could cost you anywhere from 10 to $30 per night. You have to really make sure what state or where you're at or what country. It all varies, but these are just average.
Speaker 1:And some of the activities. Remember I shared that if you go to the national park or the state parks they have swimming pools, right. They have hiking. They have swimming pools, right, they have hiking you can really explore their surroundings and nature. Also, you may need to rent if you need it. You may be a professional hiker yourself and you have all the equipment. But if you need the gear right. Sometimes it average from $20 to $50 to rent. Maybe if you're doing camping, you may need the tent, the sleeping bags right. It all depends so that the nature trip or the camping for you more economical.
Speaker 1:To have like a soulful experience as well, and be very intentional. That could run you between 60 and $200 for a weekend trip, whether you're staying home in a staycation or you're going to a national park or a state park. So it's so important to have fun. What I want you to evoke is this experience for you to connect with your inner self, your soul, for you to connect with your spirituality, for you to reconnect with yourself and possibly, if you're going with your bestie or your girly friend or you're going with your buddies or you're going with a group that maybe it could be couples that are going together, I want you to be intentional about the weekend or the two-day or soulful trip. Maybe you're not that spiritual and you guys don't really want to have it, more to be spiritual but more to connect to nature. Well, for me that's connecting to nature. For me it's a level of spirituality, but for you it could just simply be connecting to nature. Thinking right, you might be someone who's more about the science and about looking at nature. Maybe you love to take photography as a hobby and you want to take pictures of beautiful landscapes, so it's important to connect with nature and yourself. What do you want to think about? And I will be doing the next episode where I'm going to be talking a little bit more about how do you prepare for that right?
Speaker 1:What is the type of mindset in soulful travel? Whether it's luxurious or whether it's economical, at the end of the day it's still soulful traveling. It's still you connecting with your inner self. It's you disconnecting from the day-to-day to-do list. You maybe have been feeling burnt out. You may be feeling right now like you're disconnected from people. You might feel an emotional disconnect from your best friend, your friends. Maybe you're overworked. You're feeling maybe a bit upset or resentful, and all of these feelings are legit and valid. But in a soulful traveling, I want you to disconnect from that. And there's a way of doing that the economical way.
Speaker 1:When you're doing this for yourself and you're doing staycation or doing camping and you're going more the economical route, where maybe you're not engaging in a full wellness retreat or resort right and you're doing, maybe a day trip. You may decide to do a day trip where you visit a cultural site or maybe you go to a museum, right, you go somewhere where there's history, the historical landmarks, and that can be also a day of a soulful travel, even if you do a day trip, and that could be a little bit more economical as well, depending if you're using your car and you need gas or if you're doing public transportation. But these are the ideas for you to start thinking, and with a day trip you can average $20 to $50 in the day for the transportation. If you need gas in the day for the transportation, if you need gas, maybe you go to a museum for the day and maybe they have free admission. Sometimes it may vary from zero to like $20 to get into the museums, but there are many museums that offer the opportunity for you to go for free.
Speaker 1:Maybe you want to go to a botanical garden as well and do a day to explore, look at the flowers, do photography. And there are things that you can think about and in the next episode I am going to talk about how can you make whether it's a staycation or a one day right Soulful day, soulful traveling, how can it be very enriching and it help you to deepen yourself and make more of a connection with yourself. And then, even when you get back to your routine, you could make connections more, deeper connections with your friends, with the people that are meaningful in your life, that maybe lately you've been a little bit more cold and distant and just feeling not as connected. A soulful trip whether it's a day trip or whether it's you traveling to another location nearby your home or near state it can really offer you this experience where you feel more connected to yourself and you quiet down the noise of the big city and maybe that's something that you've never done and you want to do it solo. Remember, always practice safety, whether you're with a group or whether you're by yourself, or if you rent an Airbnb and you do it with your girly friends, you can have a soulful trip. You can be very intentional about what you're going to be talking about in the trip.
Speaker 1:And also I wanted to share with you guys that I've done these staycations and they're so if you've been feeling a little lost with a sense of purpose, if you've been feeling just so tired and you just don't want to deal with technology, you don't want to watch TV. You just really want to connect with yourself and listen to your inner thoughts and really be very pensive and I would say, to do a Google search of your city or state, because you may be surprised to discover hidden gems that are nearby that you're like, wow, I never went there. And there are people across the world that come to these spots, in these locations, and maybe you didn't even know about it. I would encourage you to do research of your area or the near state or the near city and just see what's out there and think about what would you like to have. Is it a weekend or is it for a day? But make it soulful.
Speaker 1:Okay, that means make it something that's very enriching, that it's connected with nature. Maybe there's some meditation, maybe you visit a temple. It all depends what you really want to do. Maybe you love taking, like I said, photography and you want to take pictures of different flowers, so that's really doable and you can really bring the cost down by being very strategic about where you're going, how far it is. Also, you may have to bring your own lunch if you want to be more economical. Right, and you could have a picnic with yourself. You could bring your preferred meals and snack and that can all average between $10 and $30, depending if it's for you by yourself or you have more people. You can all chip in and you can plan a day trip and it can range from $30 to $100 the whole trip, as opposed to renting out Airbnb, going out camping. But these are trips that it could be soulful, but you have a range for your budget.
Speaker 1:Then there's something that I wanted to share with you guys that can also be helpful If you participate in volunteer work. There are opportunities where you volunteer in a volunteer program that maybe offers you accommodations and meals in exchange for your work. This you have to get more curious and more proactive and do some research about volunteer vacations, where you can volunteer in the program and in exchange, they give you the accommodations and the meals in exchange for the work that you do and that can make you feel very connected to service. It elevates you right a bit. It gives you a connection to the people. Depending on what type of volunteer work, it could be very enriching, it could be very fulfilling and that can range depending the distance right, depending where you're going to find these volunteer vacations.
Speaker 1:The transportation could be anywhere from 50 to 100. This is just average could be anywhere from 50 to a hundred. This is just average. It can also be that the program itself is a volunteer program that doesn't charge you anything for exchange for the work, or maybe some of these programs may have some fees. So it can range anything from right from zero to a hundred dollars, but it could be free or it could be very low cost to participate in a volunteer vacation program Google this in your state or in your city to see, or in your country, if there's such a thing. But that's a great idea for an economical, soulful travel experience where you are really volunteering your service and then you're staying at the location. That could be beautiful and have the scenery. That could be beautiful. The accommodation could be beautiful, they can give you the meals and then you exchange your working hours and maybe connect it to something that has meaning and purpose for you.
Speaker 1:And maybe you might have some personal expenses throughout all these ideas. That can range from 20 to $50. It all depends on you, right? Your personal expense depends on how much you want to spend, and there's something that I shared in the previous episode and I can share it here too, but I was talking a little bit about my mom always showed me and my sisters and shout out to my mom kisses. She always showed us about using envelope. I believe there's apps and different things, but if you want to go old school using envelopes and labeling it with different activities and purposes for the money, and then you're dividing and you know very clear what you're going to spend in each item in your personal expense, and that really helped us and I talk a little bit more in depth about that in episode 55.
Speaker 1:Towards the end, I talk about how to really manage your expenses and how can you really use this technique of having different envelopes for different activities and planning out and budgeting yourself better so you can really manage your money and really connect right. Make sure that you connect your budget with the level of experience that you have that you want right. Make sure that it's aligned with your finances, your budget, whatever you are willing to or have to spend in this soulful travel. Now you know it's interesting that there could be economical places also where you can stay together with a group and they do group tours and that can be an opportunity to explore the town or the city that you're in and that you want to do it. They have wine tasting, they have different things that you can do and it could be very enriching for many hours in the day and that could be very soulful. And it all depends the distance, right, where you're going to do that.
Speaker 1:If there's a group tour, with a group bus and everybody getting together, if you want to do this by yourself or with a group of people, that could be a little bit more economical as well. I know that there are group tours, maybe in your city or where you're at, and they could be a little bit more affordable, maybe ranging from $20 to $50 per day. And the meals again, it all depends, right, because if you are an economical eater or you can bring your lunch, or maybe these group tours they stop in locations that are more affordable, maybe per day I don't know anywhere from 10 to 20. It could be even more if your preference or depending what they have to offer 10 to 20. It could be even more if your preference or depending what they have to offer, and maybe you can find in these group tours. Maybe there's also opportunity for maybe staying in in, maybe if you want to stay in a hotel. That's very right. That's very budget friendly, depending what it is for the day. That all depends.
Speaker 1:But I definitely want you to consider, when you are planning this soulful travel and you are planning your economical soulful travel, because it's very economical and budget friendly I want you to consider when you're going to take these trips, right, when are you going to do this vacation or when are you going to do the trip? It also depends on the season. You might want to travel when it's off peak, right. When it's off season, the accommodations can be even better, right? We all want to, for the most part, save money, for the most part, right? So think about where you're heading. Is it for the day, for the weekend? What are you planning to do? But make sure that you look at if there are times when the ticket might be less money to purchase. If you're going to do Amtrak, if you're going to travel by train, the off the peak season may be more preferable in many different aspects for tickets. Sometimes they have good deals in museums in certain months.
Speaker 1:So, just ahead of time, I would encourage you, as you're doing that planning for your, your economical, soulful travel with your bestie, or if you're doing it alone. Just do the research before, also with airlines, right, you may want to look at deals. There might be deals out there that you can get more affordable fares if you book in advance. So make sure that you're looking at that as well and just make sure that, if you're using public transportation, that's great. Just make sure that you're keeping yourself safe. Instead of, maybe, car renting or, if you're interested or you're accustomed to doing, you know, using a lot of the taxis or Ubers or Lyfts, maybe you want to do public transportation in the city that you're going to go or in the town or where you're going to go, public transportation. Make sure that you make good use of that time and in the next episode I'm really going to talk about, too, how to use that time of public transportation for your benefit, to still continue for it to be meaningful and making connections with yourself, and understand that there could be a lot of activities that you can find.
Speaker 1:I would like for you to do a little bit more of activities research, more activities that you can do that are economical. It might be like I said Research, more activities that you can do that are economical. It might be like I said, you may find some local festivities that they do, festivals that they do in your town, there might be some free outdoor concerts. These are all things that sometimes we don't think to look out for, but if we're intentional about planning our soulful travel, whether it's a weekend or a day, we can get a lot of benefits with this, and you may also have your reward points. You may forget that you may have travel reward points and you may forget you may have them on your credit cards too, and you may have some discounts or some credit that you can get for traveling with airlines, with credit cards, with car rentals, for traveling expenses. So don't forget about those reward points that you may have, and if you are going with a bestie or another person that maybe they don't mind sharing some reward points with you in the experience, so that's great. And you may just want to stay around and not go far and you may want to just stay right home and stay locally.
Speaker 1:Then do some search on what do you have in your local area that's cultural, what do you have in your local area that it connects you to nature? Because the point of these episodes that I'm doing in this series of Soulful Travel is that I want you. If you have not done it already, I want you to one. If you've done soul traveling before, let me know, text me. Let me know what are your best practices and ideas. Sharing is caring. If you've never done this type of traveling or staycation or one day trips that are soulful, then I want you to be open to some of these suggestions.
Speaker 1:Health issues, right, because if you want to do some hiking or some long walks in a park or standing long, you want to make sure that your health is good, that you're hydrated, that you're always looking out for your health as you're doing these soulful travels or staycation. But you may want to stay home and then, if you stay home, there's different things that you can do. Right, you can definitely disconnect from technology. You can have an assort of healthy foods and snacks that you can have at home, the music, the ambience you can set it up. Or you can decide to not be in your home and rent out and go to a hotel just for one day and explore a cultural event or a concert, but being on your own and you could journal about it, it's just amazing. You can really uncover more about yourself when you disconnect from the normal things you used to do that you're used to doing. These tips and ideas really are for you, and if you want to share them with your bestie, with your partner, right.
Speaker 1:But we want you to experience more of a soulful trip, taking time away from your routine, but not breaking the bank, right. And I want you to explore these places, especially if you're a woman. I'm speaking to you, chica, if you're a woman, that you are working very hard and you're a woman. I'm speaking to you, chica, if you're a woman that you are working very hard and you're having a hard time blessing yourself, reconnecting with yourself, and you've been feeling a little bit disconnected and lost. There's nothing more beautiful and empowering of you taking a solo trip, if you would like, in a safe way, and make some meaningful connection with yourself and with the people that you meet in this journey, as well as if you want to do this with someone else. Right, I mentioned a lot about friendships, because sometimes, as women, sometimes we get a bit disconnected of our girlfriends or our bestie.
Speaker 1:Maybe they live in another state, or maybe you just live in the same state or country, but you haven't been checking in with each other as much, or you check in but not doing something fun or something soulful. I think it would really benefit if you would do some type of soulful experience with that bestie that you want to rekindle or that you want to deepen the relationship, or it may be someone that you just care for deeply and you've been disconnected. It could be a sibling, be a sister trip. These are just ideas, but being budget conscious right, making sure that you plan with your finances, making sure you take extra cash for in case of an emergency right, and making sure that you connect with the locals and bringing more revenue to the locals that also may be experiencing a bit of a tight season, a dry season, because so much right has happened that maybe you giving back in your contribution and staying local can also benefit the community that you're in. But definitely think about these options. I think that they're economical. I think that they offer you a variety of options according to your budget.
Speaker 1:It may be that you do a soulful staycation or a soulful trip, that you stay locally and maybe you plan and save for next year to have a more luxurious or travel somewhere else, like what I talk about in episode 55, the one before this. So let me know in the comments how do you like this episode, if it was helpful, if it got you thinking. The benefits of doing an economical, soulful experience in your travel is that it can still give you mental clarity. It could still make you feel more tuned in with yourself. It can allow you to take time to reflect and to experience things that are new. That helps our brain create neural pathways, new neural pathways. When you're doing something new that you've never done before, you're expanding your brain. You're expanding maybe even culturally learning of another culture. And be mindful when you're visiting and have fun, provoke yourself to laugh, provoke yourself to smile, smile at another person as you meet them, you know, in the street or in the town that you're in, or when you're in the museum. Just give a smile to someone, that automatically changes your state and it changes their state as well.
Speaker 1:So get curious about, maybe, your local activities, culturally, concerts, all these different ideas, and if there's anything that you have a question about, feel free to reach out to me. I hope that this podcast helped you. I hope that it helped you into getting more ideas. You can also do this with family, family trips, so you can do this solo, with family, with your boo, someone you're dating. I know I hear a lot of people talking about women, talking about situationships, and some people are traveling with folks that are in the situationship. So no judgment here. However, you want to travel and make this experience your own. It can benefit also in deepening relationships and redefining relationships.
Speaker 1:A soulful trip or a soulful staycation can help you as well as someone else. You can really reap the benefits of connecting again with nature, of visiting a museum and learning right. It can give you such an open concept and a different perspective of life or about situations that you're in. So it can be helpful and you can also be very playful you can play around with when you go visit these places. Enjoy, get playful with yourself and others.
