Speaker 1:

Hi, I'm Mandolin Royle and I would like to welcome you to another episode of the Poultry Keepers podcast. Joining me in the studio are John Gunterman and Rip Stalvey. We're looking forward to visiting with you and talking poultry from feathers to function.

Speaker 2:

We're proud of our podcast and what it's done. In just a few short months. No other podcasts that we're aware of does the poultry content the way we do. So what are we at? Eight months old now and we continue to grow Almost 10,000 episode downloads and listeners in 60 plus countries. To me that's astounding. I'd love to hear from some of these people Check in, tell us where you're listening from. I think that's really cool. Let's put a pin in the map. So we felt it was time for some evaluation and reflection on how we can do a better job delivering content to the listeners. So often we've said this is kind of hard to explain without you know the visual aspect. So Rip came up with a brilliant idea that just adds to the value to the listener and makes a resource available. So why don't you tell us about it?

Speaker 3:

Rip you bet, john, since we began the poultry keepers podcast, we've only been able to offer you audio content, but that's about to change. We've always asked ourselves some basic questions to keep us focused when we're doing our podcast, and those are will the content be accurate, will it be useful, is it a very high quality, and are there new types of content we should offer? We've also had the goal of adding greater value to your experience as a listener. You may be surprised to learn that Walt Disney played a role in these new improvements we're doing. Disney was founded on a couple of important concepts. First was to provide the highest quality and everything they did. Second, disney always strives to offer program experiences that will exceed their guest expectations. Now, 15 years ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a program on improving guest experiences at the Disney Institute in Orlando, florida. That training experience impressed upon me the need to maintain high standards, provide quality experiences and offer great guest service. So we've used these three Disney concepts to create a plan for improvements in our podcast that we think you're really going to like. Now there's no need to worry, because these are all going to be positive improvements. You'll still have the same team of co-hosts for this podcast, we will still be providing you more of the content you have come to depend on and enjoy.

Speaker 3:

So what lies ahead? Well, the name of our podcast will remain the same. That's not changing. Probably the first thing you'll see will be some cosmetic changes. Now we've noticed that some people confuse our podcast with the Poultry Keepers 360 Live Streams, so we want to avoid that by adding new brand colors, a new logo and a new tagline that says Talking Poultry from Feathers to Function. We all like birds that look good, but they should really perform well too, so it's important that we focus on that function. Our first major project will be to create a new poultry keepers podcast Facebook group. We know some of you have been asking for this already. We'll use it to bring you new and different forms of supplemental content that complement our podcast, like transcripts, a way to give you printed content, graphic images, photos and videos. We'll also offer references and resource lists for you to use.

Speaker 1:

I'm excited for the visual side of what we're going to be able to do, moving forward.

Speaker 3:

I think it's going to make all the difference in the world for listeners. I really do. It's also a way to exchange information and ideas with other poultry keepers worldwide.
