Speaker 1:

Hello, mompreneur, like a rock star. Listeners, welcome back. My name is Daphne and I'm your host, and today we're going to be talking about being a goal giver, and I guarantee you won't want to miss this episode because, talking about goals, it's actually one of my most favorite subjects to discuss, and today I'm going to unlock a few insights and secrets behind goals so that you can begin living your best life, starting right now. So if you ever wondered why some people seem to go further in life than others, like you'll always see people setting goals and reaching them and achieving more and more, and then there's other people that just seem to stay in the same spot, month after month, year after year. Well, I have some pretty good insight behind this and I'm going to be sharing exactly that with you today. My aim here at mompreneur, like a rock star, is to consistently bring you actionable insights, mixed with a dash of entertainment, of course, to ensure you're always ahead of the curve. So plug in those headphones, get settled and let's jump right in.

Speaker 1:

If you tuned in to the last episode, I shared with you a pivotal night that changed my business like I went from treating it just like a hobbyist side gig to really going full time and not, oh, this is just what I want to do. But I felt this strong pool that this was what I was meant to be doing, and it was all because, for the first time ever, I wrote out some freaking goals. I remember that night, though, as I'm sitting down getting ready to do this goal assignment, I remember thinking to myself where do I even start? I've never done this before. This is probably something they would have taught in college had I not dropped out what's the difference between a goal and a dream? And was it selfish to want more, to want things, to want more time and more freedom? Because a lot of people will not set goals because they feel selfish about it. I mean, to this day, my own mom thinks I'm materialistic because I'm always looking for ways to grow and improve myself, and I can't help it if that means that I can now afford a bigger car payment. But anyways, going back to what I call that pivotal night, it was January 14th 2012, and I know in the last episode I wasn't quite sure the exact date, but the funny thing is I have that piece of paper still all these years later and I dated it January 14th 2012 and here I need to write out 10 goals. That's the first part of the assignment is. You need to just list out 10 goals. So my 10 goals were and some of these probably might not make sense if you're not either in the network marketing industry or even, like Beachbody body specific but my 10 goals were to advance my business to diamond rank. That was like my first big goal for as far as rank, and again, this might not be significant to the outsiders, but diamond rank was really that first significant rank in business. It meant you were building a team and that your business was actually starting to grow. So that was my, my first goal that I had written down. The other goals were I wanted to earn $2000 a month.

Speaker 1:

I wanted to put on some muscles because I was I was a skinny grown up, I wasn't really fit, so I really wanted to put on some muscle and do a photo shoot. That was just something big, big for me. I also wanted to start a fit club and, for those that are unfamiliar, a fit club is a free fitness club for the community. Back in the day, when we weren't streaming you know, our workouts online we would pop in a DVD and play a DVD. So what a fit club was is coaches were allowed to take the Beachbody workout programs that were on DVDs and play them for people like almost like a fitness class, except I wasn't teaching the workout, I was just playing the workout and we were all working out together and we didn't charge any money, was all free, but it was basically just to get you know awareness out into the community and probably get the Beachbody name out there as well, you know thinking back, so, anyways, I wanted to start a fit club. I wanted to win a local award, which was called the best of Elk Grove for independent consultant, and Elk Grove is just this tiny town that I grew up in. I wanted to run a 10K.

Speaker 1:

I also had a goal to attend a summit, and summit is our yearly conference that we have with Body. It's called different things throughout different organizations, but the one in 2012 is going to be in Las Vegas, and I was like, ooh, I mean, I've been to Vegas before, but I was like, if I'm going to do this business and I'm going to do it right, I need to start investing in events and conferences. Again, we talk about this on every episode. My other goals were I wanted to travel to see my grandma Kay. She had moved from California out of state when my dad had passed away, so it had been a couple of years since I had seen her. I also wanted to buy a travel trailer. We had own travel trailers in the past, but at this time we were kind of like starting over with everything, so I wanted to be able to afford a travel trailer. And then my 10th goal was to reach 500 fans well, we call them followers now on my social media page and, granted, we did not have Instagram when I first got started, so this was purely just all on Facebook. I'm really dating myself and showing my longevity in the business here After we write out those 10 goals.

Speaker 1:

So the first assignment is write the 10 goals and then we had to write them in the future tense, as if we had already achieved it or received it or are living that out. So if I were to take my 10 goals in the present tense, I would write out I am a diamond coach, I earned $2,000 a month, I run a fit club, I went to summit in Vegas, et cetera, et cetera. Well, the really cool thing is when you write out your goals and actually, you know, save them for 100 years, like I just did. It's really cool to go back and see not just what you accomplished but how far you've really come. So let me just kind of boast a little bit about some of these results, and then we're going to dive right into the nitty gritty of some of these insights and secrets that I promised you about.

Speaker 1:

So my first goal was to reach diamond coach. Blew that one out of the water, definitely became a leader. I don't have the disclaimer the income disclaimer posted or verbalized in this episode, so I'm not going to throw actual numbers, but let's just say my goal to earn $2,000 a month. Yeah, we more than did that. I did put on some nice muscles. I have done a couple of photo shoots over the last 13 years, some for marketing purposes, some for just fun. I actually even landed myself in an infomercial. So if anyone ever did the fitness program Les Mills Pump, you can Google it and hello, I got two little spots in there. But it was all because I had great results with the workout program.

Speaker 1:

I not only opened up or ran one fit club, I actually did two. So I did one in our hometown of Elk Grove. Like I said, I was from and we did it at one of the schools. It was the elementary school, and then a fellow coach and me got together and we started a fit club in Sacramento, california that's where I'm from, and back then, when newspapers were still big, we made the news and it was just really cool. It was at a community center. There was just coaches and just community members from all over that would come and we'd all get together and we'd all do this workout and it was just amazing.

Speaker 1:

Well, when it came to winning the award, though, for best independent consultant around town, I did not win, but I did come in second. So that was actually pretty interesting. The lady that won, she has been a Mary Kay consultant. What the time Gosh. She'd already been a Mary Kay consultant for probably 20 something years. So you know, tack on another 13 at this point. So I did not mind losing or coming up. You know. Second place to her running a 10 K. Yes, I did that just for the sake of doing it. That's what I call a one and done. I will run a 5 K over and over, but my 10 K days, that was pretty much it.

Speaker 1:

And then let's talk about conference, that summit that I wanted to go to in Vegas. I went that year, I went the following year, I'm following year, I'm the following year. I've only not been to a summit in the last 13 years Um, two, two times, I think. So I've gone nine or 10 years almost, and that was only because of COVID and all that. So otherwise I mean, I'm dedicated. I just came back in June. We were in San Antonio and we'll be there again next year. So very exciting.

Speaker 1:

And then the last three um were I wanted to visit my grandma, which unfortunately my grandma passed away before I had a chance to go visit her. But when it came to the travel trailer, we've actually owned three travel trailers since I wrote out those goals. We actually don't even own one now. When we moved to Georgia we just didn't find a use for it. We are involved in so many other things that it just sat in our driveway flight the first two years. We did own three travel trailers. Over the course of the last 13 years, one of those, in fact, I was able to 100% finance on my own with just my network marketing income. So that was a huge proud moment in my business, um in our family's life, et cetera.

Speaker 1:

And then, lastly, my goal to have 500 fans on my Facebook page. Well, if you follow me on social media, the number is, um, quite quite bigger than that. It's not huge. I'm not, you know, million, million strong or anything but, um, I got a good little following. So, thank you guys, all for your support over the years. But here's the thing I mean that's great to accomplish all those goals, right? I mean, looking back now it's like, oh, that's so awesome that that I did that.

Speaker 1:

But that night those goals seemed huge, like huge, out of reach, untouchable, and in my mind, before I started writing them down, is I'm just, like you know, poppin ideas into my head. I was already discrediting my ability to even achieve them. But the funny thing is and I talked about this on the last episode is you begin to write your goals out, something magical starts to happen, and when your goals move from your brain to the page, that's when belief gets instilled. That's like when you start to really believe. Huh, maybe I can do this, because when I was just thinking about my goals I didn't think it was possible.

Speaker 1:

It was when I started to write my goals down, is when I started to get some clarity, because written goals they will give you direction to exactly where you need to go, and not just where you're going, but where to get started. Like I said, I sat there going where do I even start? I've never done this before, but as a paper or the pen just started like hitting that paper and you know I'm brainstorming and I'm kind of brain dumping. These goals, like things, just started to set in motion and I've mentioned before how I struggled in the past just doing simple multitasking, and so there was no way back then that I could have ever imagined or thought that I could manage all the things that I do now. I didn't think that I could do it all. I surely didn't think that I could have it all, and the problem was I wasn't writing my goals down, so I didn't know what all even looked like. I needed to visualize them, yes, but I needed to write my goals down and then set specific actions for them.

Speaker 1:

If you're not writing down your goals, it's highly unlikely that you're going to achieve them. So let's talk about why, like, why do some people, even if you are visualizing your goals, writing your goals down? You might even be like heck, yeah, I'm 100% confident, I'm going to achieve this. You might be all in and believing that you can reach your goals, so why don't we? What are the reasons why we don't? If we write them down, we can clearly see what they are. We believe in ourselves. How come some people get the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and some don't? Well, one of my most favorite quotes and it's actually from the book called no Excuses the Power of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy I'll put the link in the show notes. My most favorite quotes can pretty much sum it up. So here it goes.

Speaker 1:

The greatest benefit you enjoy from exerting self-discipline in the pursuit of your goals is that you become a different person. You become stronger and more resolute. You develop greater self-control and determination. You actually shape and strengthen your personality and transform yourself into a better person. You move yourself up the ladder of human evolution and become a person of higher character and resolve. So if I had to read between the lines, to me that means goals, equal growth, and I mentioned before the purpose of setting goals isn't to achieve the actual goal itself. It's who you become in the process of achieving that goal, because what you get isn't the thing that's going to make you happy, and this, being one of my beliefs, is a huge reason why or maybe I should even say if this is a huge reason where people get stuck. This is truly what I believe. People aren't willing to grow through the process. They're focused on reaching the goal, but they want to stay in their comfort zone. They're not willing to make the changes needed, go through their uncomfortable feelings that are necessary in order to get to that next level.

Speaker 1:

I heard something the other day that explained comfort zones and I found it pretty fascinating, so let me share this with you. People will give their comfort zones a degree, like a temperature, and they will sabotage themselves, good or bad, in order to get back to their comfort zones. So maybe your comfort zone is a 78. This is this is just where you kind of glide. There's never really any acceleration in life, but there's not any real big drops either. You just kind of coast. You might go up or down a few degrees, but nothing is too significant that really rocks your world.

Speaker 1:

But then there's sometimes that we start to slack off and we fall under the comfort zone temperature. So maybe we get ourselves to like a 65 and then all of a sudden we wake up one day and we're like, oh crap, like we need to kick ourselves back into gear. We need to get ourselves back to where we are most comfortable. We need to take this 65 back up to 78. So we do anything and everything that we know what to do in order to get back up to that comfort zone so that we can kind of just coast again. But then there's the opposite, where maybe you really start to press the gas and start seeing some success in your business. So your temperature just skyrocketed to like 94. You're making the money, you're doing all this, sales. If you're a network marketing, maybe you're moving up in rank and then all of a sudden something in your head goes oh no, no, no, this is not you, this is not who you are or where you're comfortable at. So let's go ahead and throw some nails under the tires and get ourselves back to 78 degrees. Does this sound familiar? Because I know, when I heard this I was like this is exactly what I do.

Speaker 1:

Your comfort zone is your identity and unless you expand your identity, change is temporary. Change in temperature is temporary. Identity is the strongest force in human personality and whether you go up or down, you're still going to stay in the same realm, because you cannot go where your mind will not expand to. So what happens? Well, when you keep going at the same pace and doing the same things you are now and keeping the same habits and behaviors that you have now, not wanting to face the fears or make sacrifices to your time or do whatever it is that's required you just stay in the same place. You are not moving forward with a greater life that you keep telling yourself that you want to have.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about making sacrifices to your time, because, aside from goals, I should say time is probably my number one passion thing to talk about, but the two kind of go together. So let's talk about making sacrifices to our time, because one of the biggest excuses that I have heard for countless years as to why people can't, don't or won't change their life and go after their hopes and their dreams and their desires is because they don't have time. You could have answered that for me, right there. Right, I always hear I just don't have time or I'm so busy. Right, let's do some math, let's. Let's see how busy that the average person is and I'm not grouping everybody into this, I'm not pointing fingers, you know at everybody, and I get that there are some days where we kind of just we have to have our our brain dead time or our look or downtime.

Speaker 1:

But these numbers, these facts, are based on pure data. So listen closely. The average person will spend between one to two hours a day on their phone, not creating, not learning, just mindless scrolling. And that one to two hours it could be a combination of pockets of time throughout the day. So 10 minutes here, 30 minutes there, 20 minutes here. It adds up. You'd be surprised how quickly that it adds up. So the average person spends between one to two hours. I would assume these days, especially with the next generation coming up, that number is probably closer to two to three hours a day.

Speaker 1:

But just for this kind of experiment here, let's go with two hours a day. So two hours a day spent just doing nothing? Okay, just blah in your day times. Seven days a week is 14 hours a week. Okay, don't seem bad, right? 14 hours a week times 52 weeks in the year equals 728 hours per year. Now let's just assume we work in average of an eight hour workday. Okay, 728 hours divided by an average eight hour workday means that the average person is giving up and wasting 91 workdays per year Just because of mindless scrolling two hours a day. 91 full eight hour workdays a year wasted. And that's only the phone, you guys.

Speaker 1:

Let's add in the average of three to four hours a day that people watch TV, play video games, to sit on different apps on their phone. Remember Candy Crush? That one used to be the biggest snitch back in the day. People used to tell me this is so funny. I'd have people on my team and they're like I just didn't have time to do X, y, z or I didn't have time to work on my business, I didn't have time to get on our team call and then you turn around and look at Facebook and it's like oh, level A score. I didn't play Candy Crush, so I don't even know the right levels, but it totally was a tattletale. I'm like, hmm, didn't have time, but you had hours and hours and hours to play a game on your phone, right?

Speaker 1:

But anyways, getting back to the formula, the average person spends the additional three to four hours a day. I'm going to be super, super, just generous here and say let's bring that down to two. Let's just say two hours a day are spent watching TV, playing video games, apps on your phone, whatever. Then the other two hours is still social media, because everyone's doing it. I mean, the people that aren't on social media these days freak me out. It really is crazy. When I meet someone, I'm like, oh, are you on Facebook or whatever. They're like no. I'm like, oh, okay, weirdo. No, I'm just kidding. So let's say, two hours a day for social media, two hours a day, just averaging for the TV and all the X, that's four hours a day. Well, we know that just mindless scrolling two hours a day was 91 workdays a year. So if we're wasting four hours a day, take 91 times two, 182 workdays a year that someone is missing out on creating, experiencing, networking, learning something new or working on their goals.

Speaker 1:

Don't tell me that you don't have time. Stop using time as an excuse for not going after the greater things in life that you want, especially when it's gonna benefit your family. Stop giving away your life to the things that do not matter. If you don't aspire towards greatness, you cannot achieve greatness.

Speaker 1:

Now, I know it's scary to go after the big things. Trust me, you're probably sitting there going, okay, this sounds good and all, but I'm a little scared, I get it. It is scary because we have to get uncomfortable. Growth is uncomfortable. It's scary because most people that are around us they don't understand why or what it is that we're doing. That's okay, it's not for them to understand. It's scary to grow because I know for me growth, if it worked out, meant success.

Speaker 1:

And then my fear was sustaining that success and I'm thinking, great, I'm already like hot mess express over here. What if I can't sustain this success and everything that I'm trying to build? Am I gonna add one hit wonder to my list of like titles and roles, but even more so a being scared of success. What are we afraid of? We're afraid of failure. It's a huge fear. Nobody wants to fail at something or look like a failure. Feeling like a failure is a horrible feeling. It is a gut twisting feeling.

Speaker 1:

But here's one of the secrets that I'm gonna uncover for you today. The key to massive success is massive failure and you gotta outfail everyone around you. Everyone's gonna be afraid. Right, everybody has something they're afraid of. But the difference between the braver person is that they discipline themselves to confront, deal with and act in spite of the fear.

Speaker 1:

Every master was once a disaster, and this podcast is proof of that. Mom pernumer like a rock star. It's not my first podcast. This is actually my third podcast that I've tried to do, and probably the last 10 years. The first one was called Doing the Dirty, and then your Power Team that I was trying to launch with my husband, and now this one, and I mean I can look at it like my first two failed, or I could look at the lessons that I learned from trying out those first two experiences. Right, and in reality, I'm so glad that those first two didn't work out, because that's not where I was meant to be. I'm meant to be right here, and so sometimes I realize that our failures isn't us failing, it's just pushing us further and closer to the place that we're meant to be in.

Speaker 1:

You can discover something that you're really, really passionate about, but in order to do it or to have it, you have to stop telling yourself the lies, stop telling yourself that you can't, because whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right Now when it comes to setting a goal and going after your big dreams. There's gonna be two types of courage that you need. The first one's going to be the courage to launch, to actually get going right, and the second one is the courage to have patience. And no, it's not gonna happen overnight. Now, in the process of writing this episode, I actually came up with a third one, a third courage, and this is the courage to set goals that are so worth facing your fears for, because if you're not passionate about the goal, you're not gonna work to overcome all the challenges that you're gonna encounter along the way. When you're fired up, you will not give up, and when you're fired up, you become a goal giver, not a goal getter. You get your goal when you learn to give to your goal.

Speaker 1:

Let me explain what a lot of people fail to do after they set a goal, from losing weight or starting a new business is they fail to fight to link everything moving forward to their goals. And, my pastor, we just talked about this at church on Sunday you would not set a goal to lose weight and then go eat cheeseburgers and ice cream every night, would you? No, because then you're not gonna reach that goal. So, when you set a goal, what you do, your actions that you do, the thoughts that you have, the things you commit to now, revolves around that goal. You become obsessive. Everything you do or do not do should be based around the best interest of that future goal.

Speaker 1:

Goal giving is exactly what it sounds like you are giving all your focus to your goals. Where focus goes, energy flows. And when you're certain in your potential, you will take massive action, putting your goal to the forefront, making everything all about that. Goal giving to your goal changes everything. When it comes to making decisions, you should always be linking it back to how it's going to affect that goal. Does your decision provide a value? Does it provide a lesson? Does it provide a milestone or a stepping stone towards making that goal happen?

Speaker 1:

If the answer is no, then that means you're going to have to sacrifice something you want now for something you can have later. Sometimes it means that you might have to do this without any support, but that's okay, because everything that you need to change your life right now you've already gotten your hands. You don't need any validation to dream so big that people no longer ask you did that work for you? So where do we begin? Let me share with you the exact exercise I did back in 2012 and then give you some tips that I've learned along the way when it comes to goal setting. And actually, depending on when you're listening to this episode right now, as I'm recording this, we have just a little over two months left of 2023. And you would be surprised all that you can accomplish now and in the next year if you follow just this simple exercise.

Speaker 1:

Let me throw out a couple of things first before we go through it, just real quick. The first thing is, when you're setting your goals, or you're thinking about your goals, set your goals to reality, not fantasy. Basically, you need to be honest with the reality of your circumstances. I mean, I would have some people and this might be an exaggeration but if I talk to someone and they say you know, my goal in six months is to earn a million dollars and to retire from my job and to have six cars, and I'm thinking, oh, the homegirl, you have like four kids at home and you already have like four jobs, and I was just like, how's that going to be possible? Again, I'm making all this up, but you can kind of see, I'm all for dreaming big. I want you to dream like to the stars and the sky, and if the universe and beyond. But we also have to be honest with ourselves, like, what does our reality look like? Because don't set yourself up for failure, because what happens is if we set I don't want to call it too big of a goal, but I don't even know the right word to say it you know what I'm talking about. If we set something that's kind of truly unreachable and we obviously aren't going to obtain that, then we're going to think of ourselves as that failure and we're going to put it in our head that if we couldn't achieve that, then we can't achieve anything, and that's just absolutely not true. So I want you to set goals based on where you are in reality.

Speaker 1:

The second thing is, your goals should be in line with your priorities. If your goals interfere or conflict with any priorities that you have, it should not be one of your goals. It doesn't make sense If your family is one of your priorities but your goal is to travel the world for six months by yourself, like hmm, but what about your kids? Right, and again, I'm making things up kind of as I go, but just keep in mind that, as you're writing this down the goal I like to ask myself, if I achieve this, I'm going to be this. Or, when I achieve this goal, how is it going to affect X, like? How is it going to affect my marriage? How is it going to affect my relationship with my kids? How is it going to affect my career? You know, like certain things like that. So keep in mind that your goals need to be in line with your priorities.

Speaker 1:

And then the last thing is before we begin your goals and this should really be obvious but your goals need to take you out of your comfort zone and they need to push you to make personal changes that expand your identity. Like I just mentioned, you know, a couple of minutes ago, you can only go as far as your mind is going to take you, as far as your identity is going to allow you to. So you need to continue pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and growing so that you can expand that identity and go places you've never gone before. And in order to do that, you need to ask yourself what is required here and how can I grow into that, how can I grow into the person that I need to be in order to reach that goal? And then ugh. This is the tough part. You need to be willing to pay the price for what it's going to take to get there. Whatever sacrifice, whatever you need to start doing or stop doing, you need to find ways to be disciplined to those actions. Whether it's accountability partners, daily checklist reward systems, whatever it's going to take, self-discipline will make you virtually unstoppable in the pursuit of obtaining your goals.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's get started with this. The first thing you're going to do and I know we have I mentioned we have a couple of months left of 2023. So if you want to set some goals for the next two months amazing. Maybe you want to lose, you know, 10 pounds before the holidays. Or, you know, wrap up a project that you've been working on all year that you just want to make sure you're not carrying over into the next year. That's amazing. But for the most part, we're going to come up with just 10 things that, if they were to happen in the next year, would be so crazy cool that it could totally change your life, like things you want to happen, that you dream of happening and goals that you are actually going to make sure are going to happen, because that's what I told myself back in 2012.

Speaker 1:

If you listened to that episode, I remember looking at that piece of paper going, okay, you got to at least go for these goals, daphne, because if not, what are you really doing with business? So either you're just going to give up on your business or, if anything, you're going to see if you can't accomplish at least these 10 goals, because as big as those goals seemed back then, in reality in business they weren't really that big of goals. So if I couldn't achieve at least those goals, then maybe I needed to rethink my career path or whatever it was. So I want you to write the 10 things that you're going to make happen and then I want you to imagine what you can see, have an experience in the next 12 months when these goals come true, when you make these things actually come to fruition, like what opportunities are out there waiting for you and what freedoms are possible. So, 10 goals Now.

Speaker 1:

When thinking about your goals, they should be a mix between personal and professional, like your faith, your financial goals, your physical goals, your health. Not that you can't have one or two goals that are like all financial goals, but to me, a true, healthy goal setting activity includes goals that are big and small. So you have, you know, lose the 10 pounds. And they also have, you know, make the million dollars. You know kind of the extremes there. And then you have them in all the different categories. So you set goals for your relationships, your career goals, your travel goals, and maybe you don't have a travel goal. That's fine. There's nothing saying that you have to set a goal in all areas of your life, but make sure that you have a good mix of goals and we'll get to that in just a moment.

Speaker 1:

And then the last thing that you're going to do, or second to last thing I should say, is you're going to write them into present tense, just like I had to do prior to, because when you state it, your brain will make it happen. I mean, I literally sat there on my couch reading that piece of paper going I am a diamond coach, I am making $2,000 a month, and I sounded like a robot. I sounded just like that actually, because I said that just that way in my head and I remember, like I said, really not believing it, but when I started stating it in that present tense, it felt like I was already there and I was like, oh okay, like I'm a diamond coach, I'm doing this, and it was almost to the point where I felt like I'd almost achieved it and I wanted more. I hadn't even got to that place yet, but in my mind I had and I was already thinking about the next steps. And that's how kind of the compound effect is you accomplish one and it, you know, propels you into doing the other thing.

Speaker 1:

So here is the thing I wanted to mention as far as the last step is you're gonna then write out your goals once a week and you're probably like, why once a week? Because again, it's the pen hitting the paper, it's you repeating to yourself and visualizing that bigger picture and then going back to knowing what actions and energies that you're going to need for the next steps. Situations can change quickly. I mean, this is life, right, so if you're not staying on top of your goals, you can easily lose sight of them. So you're gonna write them out once a week and, like I mentioned, you're gonna game plan and kind of forecast what the next step is going to be. You could have wrote out the same exact goals the week before, but your action plan is different and based on maybe something you tried that week that didn't work, or something that you tried that led you to another action step that's why you're gonna continue to write these out once a week is to figure out what those steps and energies are gonna be.

Speaker 1:

And I wanna remind you don't ever apologize for your goals, like as you start to write these down. If they look big, if they look scary, if they look like you wanna own Disney World, who cares what anybody else thinks? Do not ever apologize for your goals and going all in after them, especially if it's something that can totally change your life. I mean, this is your mound. I read this activity years ago. They said literally take a piece of paper and draw a mountain. Show yourself at the top of the mountain. That is you reaching your goals. That's your mountain. No matter what your mountain looks like it could be a purple mountain with blue snow, I don't care what your mountain looks like. It's your mountain and you're going straight to the top. It's a tall mountain, it's gonna be dangerous, but nothing is going to stop you from getting there. Nothing should stop you from giving to your goals and getting to the top of that mountain. Okay, so, as I just mentioned a couple of minutes ago. As much as I encourage you to have big dreams, I want you to dream like super big.

Speaker 1:

Also, don't discount the power of the compound effect when it comes to setting those smaller goals, because just making one simple choice to set a goal can change something totally different about your life. It could have a domino effect on other changes in your life. When you do something small, it creates belief that you can do something even greater. It's like when you accomplish something in your brain it cheers for you. It literally goes yay, you're awesome. You know, if you did this, you could do something else. Like that's what my brain sounds like anyways. Yours might not sound like a four year old kid, but mine does. But it's kind of like the saying of how the rich gets richer. It's because they understand the compound effect when it comes to setting goals. I mean, one small goal changed my entire life.

Speaker 1:

It's crazy to think that back in 2011, I just had a goal to lose 20 pounds, and from that self-discipline in accomplishing that goal, it's literally led me here today into doing this episode with you, like right now. My results in achieving one goal propelled my decision to set another goal. I mean, the first goal wasn't a career goal or a business goal, or surely not to be a network marketing partner? That definitely wasn't the goal. The goal was to just lose 20 pounds, ooh, okay. So in saying that, let's give you a little teaser on what our next episode is going to be about. So our next episode, we're going to take a small turn. I know the last few episodes we've been diving into some strategies and tactics and some secrets and things like that. So, episode number six, we are going to take a turn into wellness and prioritizing our health, and we're going to be talking about how your health has a direct relation to your productivity and your success.

Speaker 1:

And speaking of, I have something very exciting that I wanted to share with you. So I want to introduce to you a new group. It's a brand new community. It's totally free. It is called the mom-preneur, like a rock star community. It only makes sense, right? So this is truly a community for women in business. You don't have to be a network marketing you know, small business owner, brick and mortar, network marketing, direct sales, whatever that it is but it is specific for women in business and every month we are going to be offering up some business tips. We're going to be sharing healthy recipes, some little mini challenges, a monthly fitness calendar, a family fund calendar and then just truly offering community and connection with other women who are looking to just better themselves, who are interested in growth and surrounding themselves with like-minded women. So that community, like I mentioned, it is called mom-preneur, like a rock star, if you are currently in my party, like a rock star group, I will be making an announcement over there and then just inviting the specific people who are interested over into the new group and starting something exciting.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, into the new group November 13th we're going to be doing a five-day soup and self-care challenge and, like I mentioned, we're kind of churning into like more of the wellness and health categories. Right now, especially as we are wrapping up the year, we're moving into the holidays. This is where a lot of us start to kind of pull back a little bit on our business, because we're really trying to just take care of ourselves, take care of the family, take care of the household, and then also with the holidays comes a lot of anxiety and stress and even depression. So this is just a really key time to put ourselves and self-care in the forefront. So November 13th we are doing that five-day challenge soup and self-care and, like I mentioned, it just kind of goes right along with talking about health and wellness.

Speaker 1:

So I hope you'll join us for that. You can find the group on Facebook and I'll also link the URL into the show notes below, and if you follow me on Instagram, it's also in my link tree, so you know that will have all the resources. Anyways, that is a wrap for today. Thank you everyone for tuning in. I appreciate, as always, you spending your time with me. Have a great day and we'll talk to you soon.
