Speaker 1:

Hello, mompreneur, like a rock star, listeners, happy new year. Gosh, if you aren't feeling the energy already this month, what rock have you been hiding under? Seriously, because 2024 is going to bring it. It's also the year the dragon little known tip there and I have a dragon tattoo. So, speaking of tattoos, at the end of this episode I'm going to share with you my next tattoo idea and what recently inspired it. You might be thinking how is this related to your podcast? And trust me, hold on to the end and you're gonna find out.

Speaker 1:

Hey, everyone, I'm Daphne Walter. I'm a rock star mompreneur, just like each of y'all, and maybe tattoos aren't inspiring to you. Maybe they are, but regardless, today you are going to learn, because I am excited to share with you something that I have been teaching for years now, and it's a topic that just gets me jazzed up every time. If you can't tell in my voice, today we're gonna be talking about goal setting and creating visions, the vibes and all the victories, and you're probably thinking too. Didn't you just talk about like goal setting a few episodes back? And yes, I did, but this episode is different. This episode is a treasure of insights into the frameworks behind the processes and a special invitation to create and execute your wildest or even smallest dreams and desires. If you've ever wondered how some mompreneurs just seem to achieve their goals so effortlessly while others just struggle to keep up, or maybe one time, multiple times, you've asked yourself what's the secret to their success well, I'm gonna share that with you today. So plug in those headphones, settle in and let's jump right into unraveling these mysteries and giving you the tools to replicate that success in your own life. You ready, all right. So just the other day, I was on a call and I heard this lady say an aimless leader is a dangerous one. And I love that, because you have to be aiming for something, or else what's the saying? Or else you'll hit nothing right.

Speaker 1:

As mompreneurs, we embark on a unique journey. I mean, we volunteer for this, we sign up for this, and this is a choice that, because we've made it, requires us to balance responsibilities of motherhood, sometimes doing it solo, but while also trying to keep up with the household, the everyday responsibilities, our careers and maybe even trying to build a successful side hustle the choice to take this path. It's so rewarding but it's challenging. I talk about this in almost every episode, but this is why setting goals is such a powerful tool to help us navigate those complexities that we're gonna have in our lives. But we can't just set goals. We can't stop there. We have to act on them. We have to take the shots to see where our aim is.

Speaker 1:

And this is where most people, I believe, get stuck in the process of achieving their goals. They don't believe that they can do it or they're too afraid to take the shot in fear of missing the target. But let me tell you a quick little story, because this reminds me of a live conference that I attended a few years ago in Southern California, one of my favorite mentors, influencer Shalene Johnson. She was on stage and she was telling us a story about a time when she was younger and her dad took her shooting. And she was just standing there in the shooting alley and she's just holding the gun and she's just aiming and aiming and aiming, but never taking the shot because she was so afraid of missing. And after a while her dad just looked at her and said you just got to take the shot, because you have to shoot to know where you land. Then you adjust your aim and you get closer to the target. This reminds me so much of goal setting and if you recall a few episodes back when I shared my first experience into goal setting which I'm not going to go into the whole story again but the point was, it took me a couple of years to realize that I needed a system. To take it another step further, I needed to learn how to shoot and aim. Yes, because writing down my goals is critical. We have to be writing down our goals, but another reason that most people give up on their goals is because they don't have the framework in place, tailored to their specific needs, that's sustainable amidst the various demands of their time. Let me say that again, most people give up on their goals because, even though they might have their goals written down, they don't have a framework in place, tailored to their specific needs, that's sustainable amidst the various demands of their time. So this is why I decided to dive hard into this topic.

Speaker 1:

A few years ago, I started attending every conference, every seminar, every influencer event that I could. I mean, I wanted to figure out what was these next steps. I was learning all these things about how to set goals and how to set goals, but where was the execution? So this is what I wanted to learn, this is what I wanted, in my mind, to master. So I went out and I attended all these trainings and all these conferences and I met all these people. I mean, I've met Brendan Brashard so many times. I feel like I should probably have his phone number by now. Oh wait, I do. Okay, it's just automatic text messages, but every day I get hit up on the daily from Brendan and I feel pretty special. But I've attended private events with John C Maxwell. I've saw and heard from so many amazing influencers, such as Tony Robbins and Darren Hardy and Ed Milet and Trent Shelton I mean literally I could ramble on forever of my list of people that I've studied and dissected to learn all I could, not just on goal setting but manifesting and, more importantly, taking action.

Speaker 1:

So before we dive into this, I wanna point out that, when it comes to putting together a framework or a plan for your goals, there is no right or wrong way. Really, the only wrong way is to not set goals or do anything at all. But what I'm saying is there are different frameworks to achieving your goals and one might work better for you than another. There's no one size fits all approach when it comes to success, especially when each of us are different. We each juggle different roles and responsibilities. We're in different phases of our lives than other people are, and so this requires our own strategy, and when you pick a path or the framework, as we're gonna call it, that embraces your individual needs, you help make the process not only more achievable but fulfilling as well. So, really quick, we're just gonna go over the four most commonly used or known frameworks when it comes to goal setting, and that's smart goals, whoop, agile goal setting and value-based goal setting. So, like I said, we're just gonna briefly go over what each one is and how the different methods can help us navigate this terrain among pernureship with a little bit more grace and confidence and hopefully better understand the significance of balancing business with personal aspirations. So the first one that I mentioned and this is the most more common known one I mean, if you've been an entrepreneur, I don't think you cannot have not heard the term smart when they say to set smart goals, as smart stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. And this method, this is a fundamental framework, I'd say, for all business owners. I mean it provides us with a clear roadmap to follow, which then creates a clear sense of the end result that we're looking to obtain, and I've used this framework many, many times to set goals over the years.

Speaker 1:

The second one that I mentioned. This one is called WPWOP, and it stands for wish, outcome, obstacle and plan. Now, wpwop is a goal-setting strategy that combines positive thinking with realistic planning. It involves identifying a wish or a goal, visualizing that desired outcome, recognizing the potential obstacles and then creating that specific plan to overcome those obstacles. And now, because WPWOP is a more intuitive and emotionally engaging approach to goal-setting, I would say that I use this method heavily in my personal approach. I'm very much about the practice of using creativity and intuition to guide me. I mean, intuition is my first source of inspiration. I start there. Right, the dream part is huge and necessary for then the doing part. All right, let's move along.

Speaker 1:

So the third framework is called Agile Goal-setting, and it's actually inspired by Agile Project Management Methodologies. Now I'm having to read a little bit on this one, because I have never actually heard of this term until I started doing a little bit more research, and, ironically enough, it's an approach that I use almost every day in my business and my personal life, without even knowing it, because Agile Goal-setting it emphasizes continuous learning and improvement. It involves setting those short-term goals, frequently reassessing your progress and then making those adjustments along the way, based on the feedback and the changing circumstances. Now, if this isn't mom-preneur shoot and aim 101, I don't know what is. If you're not assessing where you are, then how are you gonna know that you're getting closer to your target, that you're staying on track or that you're even in the right shooting lane in the first place? Okay, so the fourth framework. I told you guys I was gonna go through these pretty quickly. The fourth framework is called Value-Based Goal-setting and with this approach, you align your core values and your principles. The Value-Based Goal-setting it allows for greater authenticity and personal connection to your objectives. It ensures that your goals are meaningful and in line with what truly matters to you, and it's also a great tool to make sure that you're spending time in the places and with the people that you feel more aligned with. So those are the four. Like I mentioned, the most common ones, and maybe you're starting to already recognize one that might work for you.

Speaker 1:

So let me tell you a quick little story. Just two weeks ago, our family was in Idaho over New Year's, celebrating the well, the new year, and we met up with some old friends, and one of the friends that I met up with I've known her for over 20 years. We actually hadn't even seen each other in 16 years and it was just one of those friendships that just picked up like within the first three seconds. It's just like we just saw each other yesterday. So we're sitting down and we're actually to Dave and Buster's and the kids when my husband are out, you know, playing the video games, and her and I are catching up and she shares with me.

Speaker 1:

She has a 13 year old daughter, just like I do, and she'd been sharing with me all of the health issues that her daughter has been experiencing for many, many years. And because of these health issues, public school right now it's just not the best option for her daughter. So last year my friend decided that she needed to leave her company and homeschool her daughter, and all I've ever known is my friend working for this organization. For 20 years my friend has been dedicated and passionate to her corporate company and, like I said, that's all that I've ever known. I mean to her family too, but when it comes to. You know her professional career. This was her. So here it's been a year she's been homeschooling her daughter and she looked at me just straight into the eyes across the booth at Dave and Buster's and she said I feel like I've lost my identity.

Speaker 1:

I felt that in my soul, as mom pernures, we're natural caregivers and we tend to deprioritize our personal aspirations and prioritize our family and our business. Now, don't get me wrong. These are two huge priorities. But we've talked before about how nurturing your personal goals is so essential for your overall wellbeing and sense of fulfillment. The more that we put our personal goals on hold, the more resentment can build up over time, or, like I just mentioned, that feeling that you've lost your identity. I've been there before.

Speaker 1:

Striking a balance between business and personal goals allows us to thrive in all aspects of our life, and remember that in a couple episodes back I said the balance it balances out. So at some point, some goals will need to take priority over the other. But by setting our sights on realistic and meaningful targets, we pave the way for growth and fulfillment, both in our businesses and our families. So that's why, today especially, I wanted to talk to you about how important that it is to finding the right tool, because finding the right tool for you when it comes to setting and achieving goals can be the key to unlocking your entire potential, and that's why, today, I'm excited to introduce to you my framework for success, and it's my vision book workshop. There's no other fancy name for it, but this is one of those tools that I created years ago because, like I mentioned, when I got started here, I had these goals written down or glued so perfectly on a huge white poster board, but I didn't know where to begin. I didn't know what came first or what even came next. So I took everything that I learned, all that training, all the absorbing and the dissecting that I mentioned earlier, and I created what I feel is a pretty dynamic workshop for creating your visions and bringing them to life. Now, the keyword here, though, is workshop, because I ain't gonna lie, you're gonna work. This workshop is unlike any other training or instruction that you've had before when it comes to creating a vision board. In this case, it's a vision book.

Speaker 1:

Now, this isn't a party. I know a lot of people say, oh, it's a vision board party, now, this isn't one of those parties. I've been to in-person parties. I don't know how many of you have been to an in-person like live, vision, book board or even book party but I have, and I've been doing vision boards for I don't know, probably seven or more years now, and in that I did attend one, and one in specific that I wanted to share with you because it is a really good story.

Speaker 1:

There was a lady of my town I had never met her before. Hold on, let me take a drink of my water here. So there's a gal in my town, my old town in California. I never met her before but we were friends on Facebook just because of mutual friends and she did this post that she was going to be hosting a vision board party in her home and at this time I had already launched my vision board training. It's a vision book now, but hang with me. So at this time I had already launched my vision board training. I had had it, you know, as a programmer, of course, for a couple of years, kind of, you know, under the radar a little bit.

Speaker 1:

So I was really interested in seeing how this party was going to go, because I'd never been to like an in-person party and not that I was trying to like, compare or anything like that. I was just kind of trying to see where I hit the mark right. I was shooting and seeing where I needed to re-aim, and also I wanted to connect with new women. I mean, I'm in network marketing, that's what I do. I connect with other people.

Speaker 1:

So, of course, I decided to attend this party, and two really great things came out of this party. One I met one of the most incredible human beings to have ever walked this earth, and I'm going to try not to get emotional. Her name was Debra Noll, and she was the one hosting the party. She also had founded a nonprofit charity called Simple Loaf, a Bread, which used to raise money for fuel cards to help cancer patients get to and from appointments. I mean, we became immediate friends. My oldest daughter at one point helped her at a charity event in her home. She threw the most amazing galas out of her backyard. Unfortunately, though, a few years ago she was diagnosed with ASL. It rapidly progressed and it took her life.

Speaker 1:

The second great thing that came from that party, though, was at the end of the party, we all got done already gluing all of our pictures to our board, and we're just kind of in the mingling phase, getting to know each other, and during the course of the night I had met this gal, jesse, and Jesse is a hairdresser. And at the end of the night, before we all get ready to say our goodbyes, she has a serious look on her face, jesse does, and she just leans over the table and looks at me and she says your hair extensions look like shit. And her and I immediately became friends after that because if you know me and my hair, I'm very serious when it comes to my hair. So that night, literally she became my hairdresser and was my hairdresser for a good couple of years until the day I left and moved to Georgia.

Speaker 1:

So anyways, back to the vision book workshop. Like I mentioned, this was originally a method that I taught using a vision board, but I found that boards were kind of big and bulky and would either end up in a closet or fall behind a desk or, honestly, gradually move out to the trash before the year was even over, like I'd already given up on my goals because my vision board just wasn't even in sight. So I decided that I wanted to create something different. I wanted to use my same mythology and my same framework, but I wanted the creativity part to be more fun and just something that I wanted to fall in love with. So I decided to modify and create a 2024 vision book and I'm just gonna say it's pretty amazing. You get a sneak peek of it at the end of the workshop. So in case you're wondering what is a vision book actually, well, it's a visual representation of your dreams, your desires and your goals, because most of the time is when we think about what we're putting into a vision book or on a vision board, we're thinking about what we wanna get, when in reality, we shouldn't be putting down what it is that we wanna create the experiences we wanna create, the memories we wanna create, the life you wanna create and, quite frankly, the future that you wanna create.

Speaker 1:

In the workshop, I share a statistic. I always have a hard time with that word, but in the workshop I share this statistic that I read a few years ago out of the book Miracle Morning, and it says that if you were to ask the average person in this country, in the USA, 40 to 50 year old age range, who is settling for less than they want, struggling to be happy, struggling to pay their bills. If you were to ask them if this was their plan, if this was their vision for their life, what do you think they would say? Do you think they envision their life being a struggle? Of course not, and that is what is so scary. So, yes, it's gonna take some time, but your dreams are in your heart for a reason and you do have what it takes to make them come to life. It's gonna take hard work, it's gonna take commitment and it's gonna take prioritizing your time and getting ultra organized, but the rewards will far outweigh the cost. When you arrive at the finish line, having accomplished your goal. How great of a feeling is that.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so what is this workshop? What is it and what do you get? Well, to give you just a quick rundown of the menu, it's an online video instruction. Like completely casual. You guys, it probably actually took me so long to even execute this video style because I was so worried about it getting perfect and I'm like, why? Like? I'm just a regular person like everybody else, creating a vision book. So, like I said, when I say it's casual, I'm literally in a hoodie. I'm wearing a hoodie in my leggings, sitting upstairs on the floor in my workout room with, like, my coffee, you know, with me and all that stuff, but I'm there cutting through magazines. I'm sharing with you my exact way, step by step, the entire process of creating this vision book, or a board if that's your preference. I do give you a little bonus in there about how to modify this into a board, if that's still the method that you choose. But essentially in the workshop we go through nine different areas of focus and we don't just visualize our goals, but we create deadlines, we set reminders, we put together action steps to help us get there. You also get a workbook that contains printable worksheet, such as a letter to your future self, your goals, your power plans, celebration pages.

Speaker 1:

You guys, when I say there's so much good stuff packed into this workshop, I'm not lying. The success of it speaks for itself. I had this client a little testimony here. I had a client who went through it a few years ago. A vision board, but same exact workshop, same exact framework. He went through it and he increased his yearly income by 70%. You guys, how much would your life change as a mom-preneur if you could say that your income increased by 70% annually? I can imagine that would be pretty huge for your family. So I want you to stop just wishing. We need to start doing.

Speaker 1:

Setting goals is great, seriously, I'll say it over and over again, but you can sit and stare all you want at the picture of that beachy vacation that you glued on your vision board, but that alone isn't going to pay for the plane ticket to get there. You have to have an action plan. That's the power plan I just mentioned that I give you in the workshop. It helps you take aim at those targets. Okay, so you're like okay, well, how much is it going to cost me? Well, guess what you guys? Right now it is totally free.

Speaker 1:

The cutoff was actually going to be January 15th, but obviously I'm a little late getting this podcast out to you this month and it's too short of time. So I have been allowed to extend the offer until the end of this month. So January 31st is when the price kicks in and, trust me, even at the price point, it's going to be so worth it. But I don't want you to have to pay for it. I want you to get it for free right now, and this is why or this is the exact framework I should say, that I've been personally using for the last 10 plus years to reach each new goal of mine, every new hobby I start, every new business idea that comes to fruition, and I know that if you follow this workshop, great things are going to happen for you too. So I'm going to drop the link into the show notes, but you can also go to my website, which is DaphneWaltercom. Click on programs and you'll find it there. But I promise you, no matter where you are in your life, your journey, your business or your situation, the methods that I teach you in this workshop can be applied to any vision that you're wanting to create. You just first have to believe that the best is yet to come. Okay, so that's going to wrap up this episode of the mompreneur blueprint, but I wanted to leave you with the story about my next tattoo, because I mentioned that in the beginning and it does tie in quite nicely, actually. So it's the story of the fork, and this story has many different versions, but this is the one that inspired me.

Speaker 1:

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live, and, as she was getting things in order, she had contacted her pastor and had him come over to her house to discuss. You know the certain aspects of her final wishes. You know things she wanted to take care of in her last days. She told him what songs that she wanted during the service, what scriptures that she like read, what outfits that she wanted to be buried in. The woman also requested to be buried with her favorite Bible, and not to mention, she wanted to be buried with a fork too. So everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to leave when the woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. There's one more thing. She excitedly said. What's that In the pastor's reply? This is very important. The woman continued I want to be buried with this fork in my right hand.

Speaker 1:

The pastor stood looking at the woman, not knowing quite what to say. That surprises you, doesn't it? The woman asked. Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request at her pastor. And the woman explained in all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main courses were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and whisper keep your fork. It was my favorite part because I knew something better was coming, like velvety chocolate cake or deep dish apple pie, something wonderful and with substance. So believe me when I say the best is yet to come. Thank you for sharing your time with me today.
