Speaker 1:

Hey there, fellow mompreneurs, and welcome back to a new episode. I know I'm a little behind on my timing it's not Monday, it's Tuesday but I tell you what it has actually been pretty darn liberating pumping out a podcast each week. Even though I'm not hitting it right on the nail on Mondays quite yet, I do feel like I'm making great progress and kind of dialing it back closer and closer. So maybe next week we'll see you right on time. Anyways, hey there, my friends, my name is Daphne Wolter and I'm your host of the Mom Prenuer Like a Rockstar podcast. And this podcast was created to bring you all the ins and the outs, the goods, the bads, the clean and the dirty laundry into the life of being a mompreneur and doing it like a rockstar. And if I want to take it even one step further, it's being a rockstar in network marketing, although I do feel like a lot of my content does sprinkle over into the small business niche. For the most part, mlms are my jam. Over the years I have been involved in network marketing and I've been a small business owner, so over those years I've been able to pick up quite a few tips and knowledge around branding personal branding, business branding.

Speaker 1:

Now, today's episode. It's not fully on branding, although you probably will get some great tips, but I wanted to just share with you a quick story around branding that kind of leads us into what our topic is going to be today. So one of my most favorite stories that I like to share it's from about 10 years ago when I attended a conference in Texas. One of the speakers that was coming up on stage was going to be doing a presentation on branding, and by this time I had been in business for quite a many years and so I felt like I knew my stuff when it came to branding. I was very clear on who I was, what I felt like I represented, who I helped, those sorts of things. But I was curious to hear what the speaker was going to offer that maybe I had not heard in the past.

Speaker 1:

So as she gets up on stage, she gets up there and she asked one question, and I had no idea that the question would not just change my business, but how much of an impact that it was going to change on order to make on my life. I should have said Now, actually just a couple of weeks ago, present tense I attended another branding training here locally through our Chamber of Commerce. And the speaker she was fantastic. Like she was amazing. I felt like I had a lot of things in common with her. She owns an international staffing company. They own rental properties. She's a motivational speaker. I'm like, oh my gosh, like we have so much in common.

Speaker 1:

And her topic was branding and although it was great, it was like I said a lot of the same of what I had heard before. It was what are your core values? What do you stand for? But this speaker 10 years ago, when she got up on stage and she asked the question what do people come to you for? Like I said I knew something was different.

Speaker 1:

So I had my pen and my paper and the first thing under pressure of course, I'm like come up with something good, daphne, but with something good. Even though it wasn't a quiz, it wasn't a test, nobody was going to see my answers the first thing I wrote down was Excel, like Excel spreadsheets. How boring was that? Right here I'm at a fitness conference and I'm proud to say that people come to me because I was really good at formulas which to this day, I couldn't even tell you how to even get started doing a formula on Excel. That's how, so far removed from that world that I am. However, I wrote Excel as one of the things.

Speaker 1:

And then the second thing I was like, okay, I can't just have one thing. So the second thing I decided to write down was the word Boobs, and I don't know if I was checking my Facebook messages at the time or what sparked that, but when she said, what do people come to you for? I mean, at the time it was kind of kind of a joke that a lot of women would reach out to me because of breast implants. For 19 years I had three different sets of breast implants, so I was kind of the go-to gal. People would reach out and ask who my doctor was, how long my recovery time was, how much did they cost? Did I go over the muscle under the muscle, anything that you can think of augmentation related? I was the go-to. So I thought, okay, if she's asking, what do people come to me for, I'm just gonna write it down. People come to me for titties. So I wrote boobs and as much as I kind of, like I said, cracked a joke about it. Then I remember when I got home from that conference. I could not deny how often that it was the people were reaching out to me.

Speaker 1:

You know, when something is brought to your attention, then you start to notice it everywhere. It's like playing that. What is that little beetle slug bug game? You know, on the freeway when you're a kid, if you're looking for a Volkswagen bug, you're gonna find the Volkswagen bug. So here he was. You know, working my second job, aka, answering Facebook messages, you know, to women, and it wasn't just friends of mine. I would have women reach out and say, hey, can I refer my friend to you? My cousin is what you know? Thinking considering surgery or whatever that it was. So I was answering questions, you know, for everybody.

Speaker 1:

And then, a Couple years later, I started putting two and two together and I related some pretty serious health issues that I had had literally since the very beginning of when I got my breast implants. I started relating my health issues to my implants. I started doing more research. I joined breast implant illness groups. I talked to other women about their issues and I decided to remove my implants. And so I went. I went live on Facebook and I was sharing my story about how I had this upcoming surgery and I thought that was kind of like closing that chapter door of boobs being part of my brand. Little did I know that it opened up an entire world and this is where I say that it helped Change lives. It actually my experience helped saved some women's lives, and I would almost go as far as saying even my own, by removing my implants and getting all those toxins out of my body.

Speaker 1:

But what I did is I started sharing my experience, you know pre-surgery, post-surgery. So I started getting you know all these messages from women around the world, and not just, not just friends of friends anymore. It was women who were finding me, who were searching hashtags and in reaching out to me and sharing their stories and being Vulnerable and saying how, every single day, they just felt like they were dying and they didn't know what was wrong with them. And you know they were experiencing weight loss and or, excuse me, weight gain and hair loss, and you know they're every test under the Sun said that they were normal and that they were fine, and their doctors just Figure that they were crazy. And I 100% felt that, because that's exactly my experience.

Speaker 1:

So anyways, like I said, how do boobs have anything to do with the topic at hand. Well, as I mentioned, the ask yourself the question what do people come to you for? So fast forward, different season, different time of life, and I started to think about, you know, early on into my business, what do people also come to me for? That was a question I just started to repeat to myself after I've gone, you know, to this conference. So, anyways, one of the answers to that was time, because then I would have women, you know, reach out separately, conversations, and say how do you, how do you do it all, how do you juggle, how do you run all these businesses? How do you, how do you do X, how do you find the time to to whatever? And so I started taking note of that.

Speaker 1:

And then I also started Researching and I started interviewing other people in network marketing, and I found that one of the biggest reasons why more people were not successful with their businesses Was because they were using the excuse of time, whether they felt that they didn't have enough time, or the business was taking too much of their time and pulling them away from other Priorities, or they felt like, with this added workload, they no longer had any more free time. And wasn't that, going against the opposite of you know. Creating this life by design was to, you know, have more time. So why didn't they? So I started dissecting and I ran test groups and I did surveys and masterminds and the biggest pain point I heard from everybody from why their entrepreneurial business wasn't more successful was because of time. But instead of understanding the dynamics of how time works, I would watch people chase success by trying to take the shortest routes possible, go to extremes and sacrifice their relationships, put themselves into debt by chasing the next big thing, because they didn't understand that if they wanted more time, if they wanted more success, if they wanted that freedom, they had to maintain the current time they had more wisely, because when you use your time wisely, you get more time. I could actually probably do a whole entire episode about how much of a hot mess that I was when I first got started with my network marketing business, before I figured out how important that maintaining my time was. And I always like to use the example of Ryan Seacrest and I'm probably once again dating myself here, but most people know who Ryan Seacrest is. He's the host of American Idol and a few other shows. He has a radio show. He's the producer for E News. He does the New Year's Eve ball drop every year in New York and here.

Speaker 1:

When I first got started with my business, I had no schedule. I didn't know how to manage all of the activities that I had in front of me. I literally couldn't figure out how to take care of the kids, keep my husband happy, make progress in my business and get the laundry and the dishes done all in the same day. Yet here Ryan Seacrest is over here, driving around Hollywood, probably in a convertible, hosting his 15 TV shows, not even popping a wrinkle all these years later.

Speaker 1:

So I knew early on that I needed to not only have a schedule, but to learn how to maintain that time and the activities in that schedule. So that's what I set out to do, and not only did I do it for myself, but I created systems for others to do it as well, and more on that in the future. But my philosophy is see a need, feel a need. And so when I started filling my own needs and I started coming up with my own schedules and systems, people started reaching out how are you doing that? Can you show me how to do that? And I found myself actually like auditing people's calendars for them and showing them you know how to be more productive and how to move things around, to create more time in the day. Ta-da, hello, branding. So if you are not on my newsletter list yet, I'm gonna go ahead and add the link in the show notes below because I want you to sign up, because you don't want to miss out On what I'm about to tell you.

Speaker 1:

I have come out with a template and this is just it's just something basic, you guys. This isn't like the golden thing that's gonna change your whole entire life. It's just something from me to you that I want to provide to you every single week, and it is a template called Slay your schedule. And what this template is? Well, it's based on a few of the things that I look for in a planner. So this isn't a planner, it's just a one-page weekly glimpse. Because when I say that I am a geek when it comes to time, literally right now in front of me I saved to my browser bar on my computer, is a Google Calendar, a monthly marketing calendar, a Metricool scheduling app, and then to my left here, I have a large desk calendar, and then right behind that I have my live by every moment daily planner. So, like I said, I created this template based on all the things that helped me with my time and my goals, because, when I look at it, those two things go hand in hand. I need time to work and reach on my goals, and when I reach my goals, it helps me create more time.

Speaker 1:

So let's walk through what the slay your schedule template is, because I know a lot of times people or people might receive this in their email and Question you know, how does it work? How do I fill this out? So this podcast episode today is kind of like your little cheat sheet into how to use the template. And if you don't have the template or you don't, maybe you don't even plan on signing up to get the template, which is totally fine. Maybe you already have a system in place that's working for you. That's great. But I still want you to listen to the rest of this episode because maybe something that I've included in the template Can benefit you into the current routine that you already have.

Speaker 1:

So introducing the slay your schedule template. Obviously, it's a weekly template, so at the top I'm going to go ahead and fill in the week ahead for you. So how does this work? I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Every Thursday I'm going to send out an email to my newsletter community and it's going to have in the subject, you know, lying something about slaying your schedule, and Every week it's going to start on Monday. So the emails are going to go out on Thursday and then the slayer schedule template is a Monday through Sunday template and because I am a girl that likes all the girly and pretty colorful things, I went out and I googled. I didn't even know this, you guys, when I was creating the template. I'm like I wonder if there's, like, certain colors For each month of the year and there are. So every single month, your template is going to be customized with different colors Depending on you know that the colors of the month. Like I said, I didn't even know that's the thing and I think it's so cool. So, in addition to that, it's going to have let me just Go through quickly the layout, because there's three sections of the scheduler.

Speaker 1:

The first part is obviously going to be your schedule and this is where you're going to fill in everything that you need to do from the moment you wake up to the minute that you go to bed and everything in between. And I don't want you to forget some of the things that you might consider the obvious, like a Sunday night skincare routine. And I say that because I have a Sunday night skincare routine and I actually have it time blocked on my calendar which nobody sees, that nobody knows it is only for me, but I need to know that that's an activity that occupies my time and I also want to make sure that I remember to do it on Sunday nights to usually pretty tired by the end of the Sunday night. So, anyways, I don't want you to forget the obvious just because you say, hey, I think I'm gonna get in, you know, for workouts this week. I want you to actually feel in on that schedule, what time of each day that you're gonna be doing that workout, because you know what happens when you don't write it down it does not happen, right. So that's how your schedule is gonna work. That's pretty straightforward. Now to the right of that schedule. You're gonna see a column and it's gonna say rockstar reminders, and this is a section for Both you and I.

Speaker 1:

So my part that I play in this is I'm gonna go ahead and include anything that I feel is going to be relevant or important for you to be reminded about for that particular week. So if there's a holiday that's coming up, if there's any cool you know special event or announcement, those sorts of things this time of year, right now we're getting ready to come into like spring break season and I know my kids spring breaks are gonna be different than your kids spring break, so I obviously don't want to fill that in on a schedule for you. But I do want to send out a reminder to you because I can't tell you how many times that I used to do this back in the day. There would be spring break coming up and it'd be like Thursday or Friday and I just I wouldn't even like. It wouldn't even register in my brain. I'm like, oh crap, my kids are out of school all next week and for some people you have to get babysitters lined up or you have to request time off for work. Maybe you want to plan a last minute vacation. So little things like that I want to include In the rockstar reminder column. You are gonna notice that there's going to be a staple icon every single week. It's gonna be the very first thing in that column and it's a little heart with a heartbeat. And again, this is just a reminder for you to add in time on the schedule for your health and wellness, whether that be workouts, personal development or time just to you know practice mental health exercises. So that's gonna be your reminder section. This is also an area your part in it Is you're gonna feel this in for any particular reminders that you are gonna be important for you, so that doctor's appointment, your kids tennis match, those sorts of things that you know need to go on your calendar no matter what. And at the end of that reminder column there's a little lightning bolt and it just says you know new template every week. So just a quick little friendly reminder to check your email every Thursday because there is gonna be a new, updated template Every single week.

Speaker 1:

Alright, so the second section we're just gonna jump right into, right below the schedule, is going to be your meal planning. And you're probably thinking, oh gosh, this is like the boring part. No, no, no, no, no. And especially if you are a mom for newer, it is so important that you are taking care of yourself. That's why I put the little heart icon and the reminders is like the very first thing. You are number one, you are priority, so your wellness has to come first. So, when it comes to the meal planning section, you're just gonna start planning out what your meals are gonna be for that next week. This isn't a tracker. It's not for you to fill in what you actually. This is for you to plan out, because the goal is we are here to slay our schedule for the next week, so you're gonna go ahead and just write in all your meals that you're gonna have for that week. Now you're gonna notice another column to the right and that's gonna be your rockstar recipe. And what the rockstar recipe is? This is a free, healthy recipe that I'm gonna give you Every single week. So one of your meals is considered done. Just click on that rockstar recipe link. It's gonna link you out to a folder that's gonna have the recipe, the ingredients, the instructions, everything you need To make that amazing meal, and so you just plug it right into your meal plan. That's right on the template and that's how easy that the meal planning section is going to work.

Speaker 1:

Then the third and final section. This is probably one of my most favorites because I get excited about goals, and so this goal section is actually broken up into two parts. The first you're gonna see is a column for your power goal. This is gonna be one, just strong power goal. Then the next, it's gonna be your weekly goals, your five goals for that week. In. These are pretty straightforward, right, your goals? I've talked about this on episodes before on how to set goals. They should be a good mix between personal, business goals and so on.

Speaker 1:

So what is this Power goal then? Well, if you've done any type of Shalene Johnson training, like I have, she refers to this as a push goal and I've modified it just a little bit. I'm because I'm all about, you know, bringing the power. So what a power goal is? It is a goal that's going to push all your other goals to come to fruition. So when you go through and you assess your list of your five weekly goals, what's going to be the one power goal? Like, don't pull one of your weekly goals out and make it a power goal. Your power goal is going to be the one goal that when, that, when you make that one happen, it's going to push the momentum and bring all the other goals to fruition. Does that make sense? So that's how your little goal sections going to work is.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, time and goals they go hand in hand, so I wanted to make sure that we included that all together on the template. Okay, so I mentioned that the goal section was the very last thing. When there's actually one more quick area that I wanted to and mentioned, it's just a little bonus that I'm adding in every single week for you and that's a link to the mompreneur, like a rockstar podcast. Usually it's going to be the link to the previous, you know weeks, episodes. You're staying up to date on all the latest and greatest. Every once in a while, depending on the reason or the season, I might decide to repurpose something, because sometimes some content does have a reason for, you know, making that full circle back into our lives.

Speaker 1:

So that is the slay, your schedule template and, like I mentioned, this is just to be used as a guide how I would use it. This is just my recommendation. Because the emails come out every Thursday, I would print this template off and on Fridays I would fill it out. That way you're going your cross referencing any appointments. You have any reminders that you need to hit. You know how on your schedule, you're mapping out your meal plan so you know what foods that you need to get, etc. You're writing out your goals. On Saturday, you're going out, you're doing your grocery shopping. On Sunday, you're spending a little bit of time in the kitchen and you're getting your meal prepping done and you're really sitting down and you're mapping out your plan for the week. You're you're finalizing that schedule and you're getting everything ready to go. That's what I do and that's that's just what works for me, so I wanted to share that with you.

Speaker 1:

So, like I mentioned, if you're not signed up on my weekly newsletter just yet, I encourage you to do so, because not only do I include this template that has a new healthy recipe for you every week and a new Podcast episode for you. It is just it's my favorite thing. I love to help people with their time, and this is something when I think what do people come to me for? This probably has taken the number one ranking spot. So be sure that you get signed up for that newsletter, because you guys have a lot of time For that newsletter, because you guys, emails are a great way to stay connected. Social media isn't always a reliable source. So, with that, just a quick little reminder that I love you and I appreciate your time today and I'll see you again next week. Have a great day.
