Advent Day 6

In this powerful Advent reflection, we encounter the profound truth that God often works through the smallest and most unlikely places to accomplish his greatest purposes. Micah 5:2-5 reminds us that from tiny Bethlehem would come the Messiah who would shepherd his people and bring peace to the ends of the earth. What strikes us most is the 400-year waiting period between prophecy and fulfillment — a span that challenges our understanding of God's timing. The original hearers wouldn't live to see this promise fulfilled, nor would their children or grandchildren. Yet this teaches us something vital: our faithfulness today plants seeds for future generations. The small acts of worship, the quiet moments of obedience, the spiritual investments we make in our children — these ripple forward in ways we may never see. We're reminded that we're never too small or too young to offer meaningful worship to God. Just as Bethlehem was considered insignificant yet became the birthplace of our Savior, our seemingly small contributions to God's kingdom carry eternal weight.

The passage's reference to invasion and defeat isn't meant to discourage us but to show that God does his greatest work when we're most humble and open to him. In our weakness, he displays his strength. In our waiting, he builds our character. And ultimately, he will be our peace.
