Advent Day 24
What if the baby in the manger was actually holding the entire universe in His hands? This Advent reflection on Hebrews 1:1-4 invites us into one of Scripture's most theologically rich passages, revealing the stunning paradox of Christmas: the Creator became creation, the Sustainer of all things entered into what He sustains. Throughout history, God spoke to humanity in fragments — through prophets, signs, and glimpses of His character. But in these last days, He has spoken definitively through His Son. Jesus is not merely a messenger; He is the message itself, the radiance of God's glory, the exact imprint of His nature. When we want to know what God is like, we need only look at Jesus. The passage reminds us that this Christ child owns everything, created everything, and upholds everything by the word of His power. Yet He humbled Himself to deal with our sins, and having accomplished that perfect work, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Unlike the Old Testament priests who stood day after day offering the same sacrifices that could never truly cleanse, Jesus offered one sacrifice — Himself — and it was finished.
This Advent season, we're called to marvel at the incredible gift we've been given: direct access to the Father through Jesus Christ, a privilege that previous generations could only dream of. The baby in the manger is our eternal High Priest, our perfect sacrifice, and our living hope.
