The Light of Our Hope with Dr. Jeff Warren
In the darkest time of the year, we find ourselves confronted with the most brilliant truth: Jesus is the light of our hope. This message takes us deep into John's prologue, where we discover that the Word — the logos — existed before time itself, bringing meaning, purpose, and order to all creation. What's striking is how John masterfully reveals that this cosmic force isn't merely an abstract concept but a person who entered our world. The light has been revealed in Christ, yet tragically, it has also been rejected. We see this rejection playing out in two ways: the religious who think they can earn their way, and the irreligious who dismiss the need for a savior altogether. Both paths lead to darkness.
But here's the beautiful invitation: the light must be received. When we humbly admit our blindness and need for rescue, we're given the extraordinary power to become children of God — not through bloodline or human effort, but through divine adoption. This Christmas season challenges us to ask: Are we hiding in the shadows, or are we stepping into the light? Are we bold enough to share this exclusive yet universally available truth with those around us?
The message reminds us that love does — it's active, it serves, it enters difficult conversations with curiosity and compassion. As we gather with family and friends this week, we're commissioned to bring light into dark places, knowing that darkness cannot overcome the light of Christ.
