The withered fig tree reveals a sobering truth: outward faith without inward fruit is empty. Jesus connects this image to the temple and exposes the danger of religious activity without true obedience.
This challenges us to look honestly at our lives. Are we producing real spiritual fruit or just maintaining appearances? The good news is that Christ not only calls for fruit, he empowers us to bear it.
Today's Prayer Prompt:
Pray that today, God would point you to the idols in your life. Ask him to cause those things that you hold to for meaning and purpose to be revealed. Ask him for the courage to tear down your idols.
