In the Gospel of Mark, scripture reveals Jesus waking very early in the morning to seek a desolate place to pray and spend time with His Heavenly Father. Though the crowds sought His teaching and His fellowship, Jesus Christ did not seek the earthly opportunity to grow His ministry or to focus on productivity and accomplishment. He did not allow human urgency or expectations to interfere with His time with His Father. Listen this week as Pastor John unpacks the scriptures that have transformative power in the lives of those who seek desolate places to enjoy communion with our Heavenly Creator. Saying "yes" to too many worldly tasks creates obstacles on our spiritual walk and prolongs our suffering under the weight of constant responsibility. Jesus models that true effectiveness in life and in ministry flows not from the normal rhythms of our overscheduled lives, but from quality alone time spent in prayer with God.
