Welcome to Ask Velvet Podcast where real life meets real talk and today's conversation is about something we all think we have under control until we don't our health Now I'm gonna be honest with you A few days ago I went through something that stopped me in my tracks. I'm talking about a migraine so severe I could barely function And I've had migraines before, but this one this one was different. It pushed me to a place where I had no choice but to go get help. And what I found out, it shook me. So here I am dealing with this debilitating migraine. Eyes red, body weak, barely able to move. I'm talking about being on the floor trying to find relief. I tried everything I had at home Tylenol, aspirin. Nothing worked. And here's the part that really gets me. I had every intention on going to work that Monday anyway. I told myself I'll just deal with the headache later. That's how we do sometimes, right? Push through, show up anyway. But my body said no, I could barely move. The pain was that intense, and that's what forced me to go to the neighborhood clinic first. And from there they told me I needed to go to the ER immediately because my blood pressure was dangerously high. 209. Now let's be real for a second. I already knew what that meant for me financially. I work a temp job. If I don't work, I don't get paid. I get paid weekly. So I already knew that next check, it was going to be short. And that's a hard decision to make when you've got bills and responsibilities. But here's the reality I had to face in that moment. I'd rather miss a few days of work and still be here than push myself, ignore the warning signs, and end up having a stroke. Because according to the doctors, I had I c had I waited any longer, that's exactly what could have happened. And that hit me. I could have been in a hospital bed not just for a visit, but recovering from something life changing or worse. All because I was trying to push through. See, we've been conditioned to prioritize work, money, responsibilities, but none of that matters if you're not here to live your life. That moment changed my mindset completely. Now I've got the medication I need, and I'm going back to the doctor to get real answers about my blood pressure because I'm not guessing with my health anymore. So let me leave you with this. Your job can replace you. That shift will get covered. That check might be short, but your life, there's no replacing that. Listen to your body, pay attention to the signs. Take the time you need to take care of yourself even when it's inconvenient. Because pushing through pain isn't strength. Knowing when to stop could save your life. This is Ask Velvet Podcast, and today's message is simple. Stay on top of your health because your life depends on it. I'll catch you in the next episode.
