Monday was already testing me. After leaving the neighborhood clinic and picking up my medication, I knew I had to make my way to the ER. My body was already going through enough, and all I wanted was some relief and a little bit of peace on that ride. But sometimes even the journey to get help comes with its own challenges. So I get on the train and it's packed with school kids who had just gotten out for the day. Now normally that's not a big deal, but this time it turned into something else entirely. They started vaping right there in the train car. And I'm sitting there thinking out of all days, why today? I wanted to move, I really did, but I didn't have the strength. My body was already worn down, dealing with pain, high blood pressure, and everything that led me to the ER in the first place. So I stayed seated, stuck in that moment while the air around me got thicker and harder to tolerate. They basically turned that train car into a hotbox. And I'm sitting there just trying to breathe through it, trying to hold on until the next stop. It felt like one of those moments where you don't have control. You just have to endure. And when they finally got off that train, I can't even describe the relief. It was like I could finally exhale again. That ride reminded me how important it is to protect your peace and how frustrating it can be when you physically can't remove yourself from a situation. But it also showed me something else. Even in moments where you feel stuck, you're still pushing through. And that's what Monday was for me. A series of challenges, big and small, but I made it through every single one of them. So make sure you tune in to the next episode because there's always more to the story. And I'll be right back sharing it with you. Until then, take care of yourself and protect your peace.
