Welcome back to Ask Velvet Podcast. I'm Velvet, and today I want to take a moment to send my heartfelt condolences to Minister Lewis Farrakhan, his children, grandchildren, and the entire Farrakhan family on the passing of Mother Khija Farrakhan. Losing someone you have loved and shared your life with is never easy, especially when that love has lasted more than seven decades. Minister Lewis Farrakhan and Mother Kadija Farrakhan were married for an incredible seventy two years. In a world where lasting marriage seems to be becoming increasingly rare, their union stands as a remarkable testament to commitment, devotion, perseverance, and faith. Today's episode isn't about politics. It isn't about religious differences. It's about honoring a woman whose life touched so many people and celebrating a marriage that truly stood the test of time. Seventy two years just saying those words makes you stop and think. These days many marriages struggle to make it through the first few years. Divorce has become so common that some couples don't even make it past their first or second anniversary. Yet here was a husband and wife who weathered decades together. They experienced joy and sorrow, victories and challenges, triumphants and hardships, but through it all they remain committed to one another. That deserves to be recognized. Marriage has never been easy. Every couple faces disagreements. Every family experiences difficult seasons. No relationship is perfect. But I truly believe that when a marriage is rooted in faith, when a husband and wife pray together, encourage one another, forgive one another, and place God at the center of their lives. They build a foundation that can withstand life's storms. Does that mean everything will always be perfect? Absolutely not. Life will bring challenges, there will be disappointments, there will be moments when love requires patience instead of emotion, commitment instead of convenience, and forgiveness instead of pride. But lasting marriages remind us that love is not simply a feeling, it's a daily decision. My prayer is that the younger generation will look at marriages like this and realize that lifelong commitment is still possible. True love still exists. Faith still matters. Family still matters. Commitment still matters. While many people knew Mother Khijah Farrakhan as the wife of Minister Lewis Farrakhan, those with the Nation of Islam knew her as much more than that. She was affectionately known as the mother of the faithful and served as the first lady of the nation of Islam. She was known for her quiet strength, humility, grace, unwavering faith, and lifelong dedication to her family and her community. Although she rarely sought the spotlight, her influence reached generations of people. She faithfully supported her husband throughout his ministry while also raising their family and serving the nation of Islam with dignity and compassion. Mother Khijah was also recognized for her work as a teacher, a fashion designer, and a humanitarian. She encouraged women to live lives of purpose, modesty, discipline, and self-respect. She believed in strengthening families and investing in future generations, and she supported efforts that reflected those values. Her legacy reminds us that leadership isn't always found behind a microphone or in front of a camera. Sometimes leadership is found in faithful service, quiet sacrifice, unwavering support, and living your beliefs every single day. Whether you are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or belong to another faith, or no faith at all, I think we can all appreciate a life dedicated to serving others, strengthening families, and leaving the world better than you found it. Mother Khijah Farrakhan leaves behind a legacy of faith, family service, and perseverance that will continue to inspire many people for generations to come. As we close today's episode, I once again offer my deepest condolences to Minister Lewis Farrakhan, their children, grandchildren, extended family, and everyone who loved Mother Khija Farrakhan. May God comfort every heart that is grieving. May her memory continue to be a blessing, and may we all take a lesson from a marriage that lasted seventy two years. A reminder that love, commitment, faith, and family are still worth fighting for. Thank you for listening to Ask Velvet Podcast.
