Life isn't measured by the days we survived, but by the moments that remind us we're truly alive. Welcome back to Ask Velvet Podcast. From the porch to the couch, welcome to the show. Real talk, real life. Just telling it my way. No scripts, no filters, just honest conversations about life and everything that comes with it. Today's episode begins with one simple question. Are you living or are you just existing? Take a moment and really think about that. Not tomorrow, not next week, right now. Are you truly living your life or are you simply making it from one day to the next? Those two words sound similar, but they couldn't be more different. Existing is waking up every morning because the alarm goes off. It's going to work, paying bills, running errands, coming home exhausted, watching television, scrolling through your phone, going to bed and repeating the same routine over and over again. Before you know it, days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years. You're breathing, but are you really living? Living is different. Living is finding joy in the little things. It's laughing until your stomach hurts. It's sitting outside on a beautiful day and feeling the breeze across your face. It's spending time with people who make your heart smile. It's taking that trip you've always talked about, trying something you've never done before, chasing a dream that scares you, or simply slowing down long enough to appreciate where you are. Living doesn't always require money. Living requires intention. The truth is life has a way of putting us into survival mode. We all have responsibilities, we have jobs, families, bills, health challenges, unexpected setbacks, disappointments. Sometimes we're carrying so much that we're just trying to make it through another day. And that's understandable. But somewhere along the way we have to ask ourselves if we're allowing life to happen to us or if we're choosing how we want to live it. I've learned that tomorrow isn't promised. We hear that saying all the time, but do we actually believe it? If today were your last ordinary day, would you be satisfied with how you spent it? Would you say you really lived? Or would you realize you've been putting everything off until one day? One day I'll travel. One day I'll start that business. One day I'll write that book. One day I'll forgive. One day I'll call that friend. One day I'll start taking care of myself. The problem with one day is that it isn't guaranteed. All we truly have is today. Living doesn't mean every day has to be exciting. Some days are quiet, some days are difficult, some days are filled with tears instead of laughter. But even on those days we can still choose gratitude. We can choose kindness. We can choose hope. We can choose to keep moving forward. Sometimes living is simply refusing to give up. Maybe today you needed to hear that. Maybe you've been caring more than anyone knows. Maybe you've been feeling stuck. Maybe you've been wondering if things will ever get better. I want you to know that your story isn't over. There is still another chapter waiting to be written. There are still memories waiting to be made. There are still people you haven't met who will change your life. There are still blessings you haven't seen yet. So don't let fear keep you from living. Don't let regret steal today's joy. Don't spend so much time worrying about tomorrow that you miss the beauty that's right in front of you today. As I close today's episode, I want to leave you with this. Life isn't measured by how many birthdays we celebrate. It's measured by the love we give, the lives we touch, the memories we create, the kindness we show, the courage we find when life gets hard. So today, I challenge you to do one thing that reminds you you're alive. Take that walk, make that phone call, watch that sunset, start that project, tell someone you love them, laugh a little louder, pray a little longer, dream a little bigger, because every morning you open your eyes is another opportunity not just to exist, but to truly live. Thank you so much for spending part of your day with me here on the Ask Velvet Podcast. If today's conversation spoke to your heart, share this episode with someone who might need the reminder. Until next time, take care of yourselves, take care of each other, keep believing, keep smiling, keep moving forward, and always remember don't just exist, live. I'll see you in the next episode.
