Welcome back to Ask Velvet Podcast. From the porch to the mountains, every now and then we all need a place where life slows down, where the noise fades away, and where our hearts can finally breathe. Today's episode is about a place that has been a part of my life since I was nine years old. It's a place filled with family memories, peaceful mornings, breathtaking mountain views, and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. If you've ever dreamed of escaping the hustle and bustle and reconnecting with nature, family, and yourself, then pull up a chair because today I'm taking you on a journey to one of my favorite places on earth, Cool Font Resorts, and the beautiful town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Some places you visit once and never think about again. Then there are places that become part of your story. For me, Koufont is one of those places. My family has been making this trip ever since I was a little girl. Every time we pull into those mountains, I feel like I'm leaving the stress of everyday life behind. We stay in a cabin surrounded by nature, and for a little while the television, the phones, and all the distractions simply don't matter anymore. It's just peace. The food is incredible. The treehouse restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat. And every meal somehow tastes even better when you're surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. They have horseback riding, tennis, swimming, hiking, and a beautiful man-made lake. Even though swimming isn't allowed in the lake right now because of algae, it's still a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the scenery. One of my favorite drives is up to Lookout Mountain. When you reach the top, the view is absolutely breathtaking. Standing there looking out over the mountains, you can't help but stop, take a deep breath, and thank God for his beautiful creation. Then there's Berkeley Springs itself, a small town with a huge heart, rich in history, filled with friendly people and home to the famous mineral springs that many believe have healing properties. And if you ever visit during the apple butter festival, don't leave without buying some apple butter. Trust me, I buy several jars every time I go. It's amazing on toast, incredible with peanut butter on a sandwich, and if I'm being completely honest, I've been known to eat straight out of the jar. It's just that good. Every trip leaves me feeling refreshed, recharged, and grateful. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, whenever that may be. Thank you for traveling down memory lane with me today. If you've never been to Koufont or Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, I hope this episode inspires you to put it on your travel list. Sometimes the best vacations aren't about fancy hotels or crowded tourist attractions. Sometimes they're about slowing down, enjoying nature, spending time with the people you love, and remembering what peace feels like. Love the show?
