Welcome, welcome, welcome to Ask Velvet Podcast. I'm your host, Velvet, and as always, thank you so much for tuning in. Whether you're listening while you're driving, relaxing at home, walking the dog or trying to stay cool somewhere with some air conditioning. I appreciate every single one of you. Now, pull up a seat, get comfortable, and let's talk because today's weather had something to prove. Y'all, today was hot, and when I say hot I don't mean oh it's a nice summer day. No no no no no no no no no. I mean the kind of hot that makes you question every life decision that led you to stepping outside. From the moment I left my house, I knew today was going to be one of those days. Before I even made it to the subway station, the sun was already beating down like it had a personal grudge against everybody. Then I got on the train. Normally, getting on the train gives you a little relief, but today, every single time those train doors open at another station, it was like somebody opened the oven door while baking cookies. Whoosh nothing but hot air. I just sat there thinking, can y'all close those doors? We're letting all the heat in. Then I get off the train, walking through the station. I already knew what kind of day it was going to be because if it's hot inside the station, just imagine what's waiting for you outside. Yes, they had the fans running. Bless those fans. But those fans were basically saying we're trying our best. They weren't winning that battle. By the time I made it outside, the heat hit me like a wall. I could literally feel the bottoms of my shoes getting hot. I'm not exaggerating. The soles of my shoes felt like they were melting. I could actually feel the heat coming through the bottom of my shoes into my feet. That's when you know it's too hot. By the time I finally got to work, the first thing I wanted to do wasn't grab a drink. It wasn't check my email. It wasn't even sit down. I took my shoes off so my feet could cool down. That's how serious this heat was. And here's the part that has me really concerned. Today's heat was just a warm up. They're saying tomorrow and through the entire weekend it's going to be in the triple digits. One hundred degrees and above. Now let me tell y'all something. I thank God that I don't have to work on Friday because it's supposed to hit around 104 degrees, but it's going to be feeling like it's a hundred and eleven. No ma'am. No sir. That kind of weather can have the outdoors all to itself. You will not catch your girl outside. If somebody calls and says Velvet, come outside. The answer is hail to the motherfucking no. If somebody says there's a sale, no, my ass is staying indoors. If somebody says there's a cookout, hell to the motherfucking no. Cause we are already cooking. If somebody says they're giving away free money, hmm, well, okay, I might at least peek through the window first, but after that I'm going right back inside. Because me, I'm staying under the air conditioning. Me and my three cats have already made our plans. Boo Boo, Prince, Apple, and I are going to be inside where it's cool. We're not arguing with the weather. We're not trying to prove anything. We're going to let the sun do whatever the fuck the sun wants to do while we enjoy that beautiful AC. Sometimes the safest thing you can do is stay inside. Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water, check on your family, check on your neighbors, and especially check on elderly people and pets who may need a little extra help during extreme heat. This weather is no joke. Well, that's today's episode of Ask Velvet Podcast. Have you been dealing with this heat where you live? Is it just as hot or is your weather giving you a little break? I'd love to hear your stories because I know I can't be the only one who felt like I was walking on a giant frying pan today. If you enjoyed today's episode, don't forget to follow, subscribe, and share the Ask Velvet podcast with your family and friends. Every listen, every share, and every recommendation helps this podcast continue to grow. And I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Until next time, stay cool, stay hydrated, stay safe, and remember, if it's a hundred and four degrees outside, don't come looking for me. I'll be inside under the AC with Boo Boo, Prince, and Apple. Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you in the next episode of the Ask Velvet Podcast. Bye everybody.
