Episode 100: Reflections, Resilience, and the Road Ahead
Welcome to a massive milestone: Episode 100 of Two Unemployed Actors!
It’s been a long, overdue, but incredibly rewarding journey since we launched back in 2019. In this special anniversary episode, I take a moment to look back at the chaotic, challenging, and inspiring path that led us here—from the early days of navigating Agents and Showreels to the exciting new horizon of television production.
Reflecting on the transition from a 20-year corporate career to the unpredictable world of the arts, we explore what it truly takes to stay "work fit" in the Australian screen industry. This episode isn't just a celebration; it’s a masterclass in resilience. We revisit the "pain and suffering" that made for great content, including the infamous Vespa accident that led to two years of rehab but ultimately strengthened my resolve and focus on the craft.
We also recap some of our most impactful conversations with industry heavyweights. From Hollywood director Sam Hargrave sharing insights from the set of Extraction to Australia’s premier agent Mark Morrissey demystifying the agent-actor relationship, these 100 episodes have served as a bridge to the professionals who shape our industry. We touch on the vital importance of mastering the U.S. accent, the nuances of casting with Anousha Zarkesh, and the mental health insights provided by actor-psychologist Simon Ward.
As I pivot toward my new focus with Add Kulcha Productions, I’m thrilled to share the development of three original television pilots—a comedy, a spy thriller, and a horror series. With the Screen Forever conference on the horizon, the journey is shifting from being an Actor to becoming a Creator.
