WHAT ARE TRUE FEARS!
Apr 02, 2023 Season 5 Episode 101
Gilbert J & Renée M. Beavers

Rich Relationships Refuge is a YouTube channel and podcast that aims to help couples build healthy and fulfilling relationships. The episode focuses on the impact of Fear on relationships and how it can hinder growth and joy.

When I first heard that scripture, I instantly thought about myself and how Fear affected my life. I felt like I was constantly fearful not of an accident or a tragedy but of the uncertainties of what the future may hold for me. I once heard Fear being described as an acronym for false evidence appearing real. I could instantly relate to that acronym. The essence of Fear is insecurities layered with self-doubt. It is rooted in my desire to control my life.

Control of knowing that I must rely on God for my daily necessities of life. Fear handicaps growth in your marriage. One thing that attracted me to my wife was her constant state of being Joyful. This was something that I lacked in my own life because Fear had me bond by thinking of my past, that now affected my future and the future of my spouse. That lack I was experiencing originated as a young child of a broken marriage and an absentee father. When you don't have a father who is your first provider in the physical realm, it sets the stage for Fear and doubts in your heavenly father to be there when you need him. Before
this, I never truly understood how my trust should not be in a person but in the one and true Living God to provide for every area of my life.

The first thing that dissolves is joy; the lack of pleasure comes from the constant attention that you give to not having the things that are required for life, as the Bible speaks about in Matthew 6 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? (v25).
As an individual or a married couple, you must be willing to take the longest journey inward and be truly honest with yourself. I realized I was Closed, Obstinate, Lazy, and Dishonest. (C.O.L.D). Not from the temperature outside but neglect of my emotional health. I had allowed myself to be controlled by my old human nature versus my new life and Holy Spirit. Many years later, I realized I had allowed Fear to keep me from my spouse.
