Hello everybody and welcome back to the Trinity League Football Podcast. I'm your host, Dan Albano with the Orange County Register and OC Varsity, and I'm joined by my partner, Scott Barajas. We are recording our show on Monday, August 24th, 2026. Want to welcome everybody back for another episode where we're going to be recapping an exciting and probably a tough overall week, opening week for the Trinity League teams that went 2-4 in some uh you know some close games. Um were close, some were not, but it was kind of a mixed result. Uh, you know, maybe you know, by Trinity League standards, it was a tough opening week. How are you doing tonight, Scotty? As we're uh going to be breaking down these games, talking about uh you know the breakdowns, the players of the game, and we'll be talking about the next week coming up uh this week.
SPEAKER_00I'm just trying to stay cool from the heat for where I'm at. I'm not naive, and so it's it's uh it's it's it's brutal 10 102 today. Um so I just try to stay cool and uh you know you know stayed inside and uh break down these games for for everybody. Um but yeah, it was a great it was a great week. I mean, it was tough for the Trinity League, but um, you know, we we saw a great you know Gorman and Bosco game um Gorman and Bosco game that you know that started off you know shaky and then it you know it it delivered you know in that second half. Um and then um you know I I I probably I wanted to lead with the stat of the night. Yes. And um with with with can you believe that Bosco's on a three-game losing streak? That is a little surprising, and it may surprise people like because if you date back to last year, they lost to modern day, the end of the game, and then they played uh playoffs Olu, lost that one, and now you know they opened this season against Gorman, lost that one. So I don't think they're gonna go any further. I think uh they're gonna handle a Roman Catholic this week. Um, but uh that's a crazy you know stat that's you know uh I don't know when the last time Bosco was uh had a three-game losing streak.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And two of those games were uh at home. You know, they lost to Moder Day at home late last season, and then of course they lost the playoff game to Orange Lutheran at home, and then they lost you know in Nevada. Uh made a great comeback in Las Vegas last week. Uh the tie that tie uh the Gales at 28-28 end up losing 35-28. We'll talk about that game momentarily, but that is a uh quite revealing stat. Um I want to do a little housekeeping at the uh at the front, uh, give some information I didn't give last last last show, and thanks everybody for listening to the show. All right, Scotty, let's uh let's get into it. Uh let's start at the top with the big uh national showdown, number one versus number two in the in the nation at the time. That was St. John Bosco falling in Las Vegas to Bishop Gorman 38-28 in a nationally televised you know, game by Max Preps. So Gorman up 21-0 at halftime. Braves come back to tie it um on a spectacular uh punt return of uh I think it was about four uh 40 yards uh read punt return by DJ Tubbs that tied it with early in the fourth quarter at 2028, but then it was former St. John Bosco running back um Corey um uh Hilton, who uh Hinton, excuse me, Corey Hinton, uh scored on a you know really nice uh, you know, he's a running back, came out of the backfield, scored on a 54-yard touchdown reception where he juke the linebacker, got out to the sideline, and took it to the house with about six and a half minutes. And that, you know, um was the uh game winner. You know, Gales added a field goal after that, but uh exciting game in terms of you know, maybe Bosco getting off to a slow start, tying it up, but then uh the Gales finishing strong. What was your uh thoughts on this game, Scotty? What do you have uh report wise?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think nobody expected that 21, you know, yeah, zero Gorman lead at the half, you know, and then you know uh Bosco, you know, is down seven zip and they put themselves in the bad in a hole with the bad snap, you know, um, and puts the ball down on the goal line, and then they get the sack fumble TD in the end zone. And before you know it, you blinked and it was 14 zip, you know, and um it was uphill from there, you know, and Gorman wasn't gonna let up, you know, and it didn't, you know, Bosco didn't settle down until that second half. But what was obvious throughout pretty much the entire game was Gorman's pressure on defense. They registered eight sacks, they made Koa uncomfortable, and we've seen what other teams you know have done against Bosco and Koa. What do you do to is pressure them? Uh you know, he finished with 45% uh completion percentage. You know, he threw for 222 uh 222 yards. He did have two TDs and he had those two picks, and then they also weren't able to get the run game going. They only had 48 yards rushing, averaged 2.7. Um, you know, Gorman was credited with 18 tackles for loss. Um you know, they had four from Tayan Lawrence, three from Brandon Ivey, uh, who also had like three the three biggest sacks. Um, you know, I think playing from behind also uh played into that lack of a run game. And then you know, Gorman's offense was was killing the Braves with that three backs coming out of the backfield for big gains, you know, and then it was the former Brave, Corey Hinton, as you mentioned, you know, doing most of the damage. He had five receptions for 99 yards, and then uh Zyren Minor, you know, found those holes in the Bosco zone. Um, you know, and then his first score, if you guys remember, he caught that one in between like three Bosco guys. He cut it inside and you know, took it you know, up. He finished with four receptions for 95 yards and he had two TDs. You know, Ace Amina played solid, played within himself. He didn't press. He took what the Braves gave them. He had 68% completion percentage. Um, and he also threw for around 200, you know, a little bit over 200 yards. You know, if you take away that first half, Bosco played better outscoring Gorman at 28-17 that second half. Um, and they got it down to 21-14, and then each team traded scores, eventually tied it, eventually became time became the issue for the Braves uh after the Gorman scored those next 10 points and they just ran out of time. Um, you know, and then Gorman basically their defense stiffened up on those last two series, didn't allow the Braves to make that comeback. Um, and then you know, high you know, of you know, also highly touted offensive lineman, you know, Elijah Mueller, he didn't play in this game uh either. So I don't think he he's he's probably cleared. And you know, we're gonna talk about a few other guys, you know, that do that this also happened to. Um, and then as far as our you know, grades, we're doing the grades early on, like we always do. So I you know, offensively, I I you know I give Bosco a C. You know, they they played pretty solid, they had some things that they can improve on. So, and then defense, I I do I give them a C. So, I mean, they like I said, they they played within themselves, but they gave up a lot of things, and you know, they can correct that. I know it was against Gorman, who's you know, top, you know, this, you know, now the new number one, you know, possibly team, but um based you know on that, and then you know, like I said, I don't think Bosco will have issues with anybody else going forward, possibly we'll just have to wait and see, you know, and then as far as a player of the game for this one, DJ Tubbs, he finished with the six receptions, 82 yards. He had that long return you mentioned. Um, and I think he had the most you know offensive success. So um you know, you know, Bosco's gonna bounce back, you know. Like I said, this is a this was a national game. You know, I don't think anybody else is gonna do that to them. Um, I know there'll be some other Trinity League games that will be solid and tough, but um, you know, we'll just have to wait and see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, good stat of the, you know, back to your stat of the day, good one overall on St. John Bosco, something to watch with the three consecutive losses. And I also think, you know, more pressing for this this season, you mentioned the eight sacks by Bishop Gorman. That's gonna be important um because uh the game we're gonna talk about next is gonna be um, or in a couple games from now, you're gonna we're gonna hear about another uh a Trinity League team that racked up the sacks as well. That uh the Bosco is going to have to work on that uh pass protection because um there's some other teams with some pass rust um in the Trinity League that they're going to have to work on on the improving that. Um Scotty, a thrilling another thrilling game, um, and then also uh uh you know involving an out-of-state opponent, and that was Miami Central came into Orange County and played Orange Lutheran at Orange Coast College, and this game was a barn burner, and it came down late, and um Miami Central of Florida, Miami, Florida, of course, uh rallied for a 23-22 victory. Uh pretty thrilling uh finish, which was uh Miami Central quarterback James Perone scrambled for 40-yard touchdown on third and 20 with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter to get the the win for the Rockets. Um who were they were down 11-0 to Orange Lutheran after the first quarter. So um that was it, and and that uh James Perrone is a senior quarterback committed to pit. So uh that was there was a guy to watch maybe in college football coming out of uh Miami uh Central. Um but for Orange Lutheran, uh they did get a touchdown pass from uh Reagan Toki to Chris Flores, and Ryan Christensen also um ran for a touchdown. But what did you have on this game, Scotty? What's your breakdown?
SPEAKER_00You know, they the Lancers kind of ushered in that new dawn of Ray Fenton with the flurry from the opening kickoff to its first series and even extra point. So the Lancers came out and ran a fake reverse on the kickoff for a pretty good gain. Then with Reagan Toki at quarterback, they scored in three plays with that high tempo offense, you know, capping it with a 27-yard TD by uh Chris Flores. Then they followed it up on a fake field goal two-point conversion. So, you know, the offense looked awesome. They looked, I mean, looked in sync on that first series of the game. But unfortunately, you know, the game and like we said, left the Lancers in shell shock, you know, when the you know they scored that winning TD with the you know 23 seconds on that and not scramble. And then the rest of the night was a series of momentum swings between you know the two teams, starting with Miami Central. I think they weathered you know that Lancer quick start, you know, it ended up being you know a 14 halftime lead for for the Lancers. And then when it seemed like Olu was going to pull away, Miami Central either got a big run or a scramble from its quarterback um or a turnover from its defense. Um, late in the third quarter, you know, Olu was driving you know in Miami Central territory, and Toki gets picked off, um, and which ended up leading to a Miami Central 35-yard field goal that you know cut the lead. Um and then the next series, Ezra Brown, who rotated with Tokyo every two series, he underthrows Nico Bland on a post, and the Miami Central DB undercuts it and picks it off. Um, and then that led uh to the go-ahead field goal, 28-yard field goal that led that, gave them the lead 16-14, uh, with 14 minutes left in that fourth. You know, and then Miami Central and Olu endure another momentum changer. Toki's driving the Lancers, scrambles for a 23 yard, only to lose the ball, and and then uh Miami Central recovers. But then, you know, real the next you know, four plays later, Orange Luthan's Corey Panapa pressures the Miami Central punter enough to disrupt his timing, and the punter drops the muffs the punt. And so Olu recovers on the 19-yard line, and then a few plays later, Ryan Christensen runs it in five yards and it gives Olu the lead. And then Olu converts the two-point conversion from Toki to Chris Flores, so they're up 22-16. But Orange Lutheran can't capitalize on Miami Central's turnover on downs with 356 on the clock. So at Miami Central's at the 31-yard line, they give the goal, they give the ball back to the Miami Rockets with a minute and 46 on the clock. And Miami Central hadn't completed a pass more than 15 yards, and they hit a 45-yard post to the 30-yard line, and that eventually set up the game winner. And as we described, that last the game winner with the QB, he stepped up into the pocket, took the running, running down the sideline uh with Olu defenders converging on him, and it looked like he was gonna head out of bounds, and he cuts back inside, eluding the Olu tackler. Yeah, and then another Olu guy over pursues, and then the guy hit the quarterback heads into the end zone. And it just looks like the Olu defense slowed down, thinking he was gonna go out of bounds, but it was fourth down. He had to score, so Olu, all they needed to do was make sure he got tackled, or you force him out of bounds. And, you know, that was just a tough loss. Um, but there were some positives, but there were also some things to work on. Uh the defense held the Rockets to three short field goals, and they only allowed one touchdown, and then that the last one. Um, Raymond Lange had six tackles, three for loss, and a sack. Um, you know, Chris Flores hauled in nine receptions for 112 yards. Toki was 16 of 22 for 118 yards, one touchdown, one interception. He had 58 yards rushing. Um, and he actually looks a little bit more comfortable running the offense, looks more in sync than Ezra. Um, Brown was five of 10 for 46 yards, but 30 of those yards came on the last play of the game, um, throwing a lot by Hell Mary de Flores.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then like, and then that you know, we mentioned transfer updates, you know, because we're seeing a lot of these sit-outs, you know, Austin Atala did not play, um, neither did uh tight end uh Plug. But on an interesting note, Sanute, you know, Vunaleo, the lineman who had transferred to Sierra Canyon in the summer, transferred back to Olu and was in the starting lineup. So go figure that one out. So he probably didn't, you know, I he probably didn't move maybe addresses, and so it allowed him to come back because he didn't play. That's what I'm thinking. But um, you know, you know, that's just the little notes on the on the transfers. And then offensively, you know, you know, C and defensively, you know, C plus, you know, they they did a lot, they didn't allow them in the end zone. Um and then uh player of the game, Raymond Lange, because he was active, he made some big stops, had those three tackles for losses.
SPEAKER_01All right, so you had C on offense and defense?
SPEAKER_00Yep. I give him the C plus. So I I do the C, you know, I you know, uh C plus for both of them. C offense, C plus on defense.
SPEAKER_01Okay, got it. Um Yeah, we'll have to check out the transfers. I I do know that Pluge is gonna be a sit-out transfer, the senior um tight end. He's gonna so he won't be back until the Trinity League, so or he won't debut uh the Troy transfer. The other ones we'll have to check on uh some more. Um and and you know how much we can get on the ins and outs of those things. Um, you know, tough to say, but we'll as far as finding their eligibility and and you know, watching the CIF website, you know, we'll we'll get some intel. Um but I do know Plug's gonna be a sit-out period from uh Coach Fenton. Um but we'll have to check on those other guys, and of course you you raised up a good one, uh, some you know, good ones to watch. Um, all right, Scotty. You know, I was talking earlier about Sacks and uh a Trinity League team to watch. So I want to take you to Saddleback College, um, and that was the site of Santa Margarita's season opening uh 27 to nothing win against Jones of Orlando, Florida. So um, you know, Trinley gets a win there against Florida, but um there was a few storylines to uh to watch in this game, and keeping with the sacks, um Santa Margarita set a school record with nine sacks, Scotty. So um that's something for Bosco and all the Trin League teams to watch um with their stack their sack numbers. I know you're gonna be talking about this guy momentarily, but freshman linebacker um uh Aiden Steen had three uh sacks to go along with ten total tackles, um, seven solo. And I I know you watched uh some of this game, if not all of it. Uh I watched um a decent amount of the the start of the game, and I saw Aiden um number zero playing uh pretty much middle linebacker uh and looking aggressive uh going toward the quarterback. Kind of remind me of Dash Fafita. So I'll I'll when you when you get your turn, I want to ask you, you know, tell me if you saw any similarities there. But another big storyline was that Fletch uh Palmer, uh car uh the son of coach Carson Palmer, uh started at quarterback, played the vast majority of the game, and set several career highs. Uh 21 of 31 for 242 yards and two touchdowns. And um, you know, this was uh as a sophomore, he only threw seven passes all year. Um, and you know, he was the backup to um starter uh Trace Um Trace Johnson, um, you know, who's a senior, uh went to um Tulane. So that was the pretty big news that I did not expect Fletch to start the game. Then he uh I thought he made some good progress during the summer. Um and you know, he continued you know that progress in this opener with that kind of performance. Um so uh, you know, uh several, you know, big step for him when you've only thrown, you know, with the the experience that he had, limited experience at you know, in games uh they from his sophomore year to what he did as uh a junior, that was uh pretty revealing. That in the in the defense, which has only got two returning starters, Scotty, from last season. Here they are, another uh shutout, um, kind of doing what they have done. You know, credit to Coach Fafita, defensive coordinator. Um, you know, um they have a system, obviously, I think. Uh they got good athletes doing it. Um, so what was your take on this game, Scotty?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was no secret. You know, Santa Margarita won, you know, with its defense last year, dominating fashion. And, you know, you just mentioned they only returned two guys in the defense. And again, they flexed its muscles with an overwhelming performance, you know, recording the nine sacks. They held Jones to 26 yards of total offense with the uh shutout win. And you know, the defense was also responsible for aiding in Santa Margarita's first two scores with interceptions by Karan Williams and freshman Jaden Jack on the first two defensive series. And then, you know, that was with the Adrian Petro one-yard run and then a Kion Callas seven-yard reception. Um, and then it was also the surprise that he said, you know, that we learned that Fletch was named the starter. He was effective for the most part, 21 to 31, 242, two TDs, and uh he did have a pick. And his favorite target was the freshman Callis, um, who had nine receptions for 112 yards in the TD. And, you know, in the summer it seemed that the Ville Park QB Smith was looking to be the eventual starter. You know, we saw them leading them in the passing league tournaments. Um, obviously, the games played with pads. And once the pads came on, it apparently became a different story within the Eagles, you know, you know, program that ultimately led to Fletch getting the start. So uh despite Son of Marjorie's effective passing game, Jones did get um push from its four man uh defensive front, led by 335 pounds. West Virginia commit Deja Webb and Texas AM commit Fred Arns, who contained that if they run game. They held Santa Margarita to a 4.4 average. They limited started running back Patro to 26 yards on 14 carries. And then Jayon Dew Smith added 53 yards with a long of 23. But the Santa Margarita defense wouldn't give Jones any wiggle room or time to command a sustained drive. And it didn't help that Jones lost its best offensive threat early on in the first quarter, the running back to an ankle injury, you know, and then its offensive line could not hold the pressure that Santa Margarita put on them. You know, six out of the nine sacks came from starters. You know, Steen had three. KJ Herndon, the other freshman, had two. Kingston Jimerson had a sack and a half. And linebacker Curran King also had a sack. And, you know, though it wasn't considered points off turnovers, Santa Margarita did force a turnover on downs inside the Jones 30-yard line that led to the Eagles' fourth and final score when Palmer hit transfer receiver Grant Van Raphorse on a wide open pulse for a 38-yard TD. And that made it 27 zip with 328 left in that game. And he's different in the fact that, you know, he still has that burst that Dash has, but you know, this guy can get to a top end speed really quick. You know, and he also can laterally more, you know, he's longer, so he can do you know different things, you know, he can cover. Um, so you know, it's gonna be interesting to see you know more of him and you know as the season progresses. But you know, at that that that was very impressive. Um, what he did in the first game. And uh far as far as you know offense, I'm giving him a B minus. Um and uh defense, absolutely the A. And then you know, player of the game, Aiden Steen, of course, 10 tackles, three sacks, seven solo tackles.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Okay. All right, so Eagles got the best grades uh so far as we're halfway through our week zero uh rewind here and analysis and breakdown, like we like to do on the Trinity League Football Pro uh podcast, B minus on offense, A on defense for Santa Margarita. All right, so like we said at the top of the show, Scotty, Trinity League, you know, did go two and four in the uh first round. We talked about one win there by Santa Margarita. Modern Day also got a win. Scotty uh beat American um excuse me, yes, American uh fork from Utah, and that was the Monarchs 31 to 21. Um and Modern Day's defense uh did play very well, um, kept uh American Fork under 200 yards of offense. Um you broke it down last week, you know, discussing some of their quarterback options, and they did play three quarterbacks in Campooley who started, uh Russell Saconia and even freshman Peyton Guest did uh throw one pass. But um Poole started through for about 57 yards, eight of twelve. Socona, two for five with some long strikes. He had it was two for five for 120 yards, uh including a 72-yard uh connection. Um with um uh Greer, Jalen Greer, um junior, who uh caught a touchdown pass, uh led the monarchs in receiving. But Modern Day also ran the ball. Really, what they did well on offense, the uh the best was they ran the ball uh with Asier and Nev Hart, the sophomore, only nine carries to get 117 yards. That's an average of 13 yards per carry. Scotty had two touchdowns. Um, pretty sure that's his first 100-yard game of his young career. And uh Monarchs also featured uh Mark Allen um with 11 carries for 75 yards, so he almost averaged seven yards as well. Um so the monarchs really did pound uh the rock well, and they got a couple interceptions. You'll probably talk about those um on the defensive end. But Scotty, what did you have on this game?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know, the new look modern-day um offense, you know, showed us a promising running game. You just mentioned it, you know, with with Nemhard Nemhard and Mark Allen. They actually combined to average 10 yards per carry, you know, in the first place set the tone what the running can be like when Asian Namhart took the first carry 44 yards, uh cutting back, but despite he got hacked and the ball got punched out from behind. You know, that was short-lived though, because he came back and um, you know, went on to average the 13 yards per carry for the 14 yards. Um, and then you said you mentioned Allen added the 75, including a 22-yard rushing TD. And then Cameron Pooley did get the start and he rotated with Sakona. They combined for 10 of 17 for 177, one touchdown, one interception. But you mentioned earlier that that you know, 120 of it came from Russell Sakona's only two completions, um, to Jaden Greer, 48-yarder that set up a score, and then the other two, the other one was a 72-yard TD. And you know, Pooley was 8 of 12 for 70, 57 yards, but 20 of it, 20 yards came on a wide receiver screen as as long as completion. So it was all short and check downs. Um, and then you know, Sakona also had four scrambles, um, but he was responsible for two of the scoring drives, including the four-play, one-minute drive that set up uh Asir Nemard's 14-yard TD run with 26 seconds before the half that gave Matterday the 17-3 lead. And, you know, we said the defense was gonna have to lead, and they did. Um, you know, they scored the team's first points of the season with uh Mata Uninalehi and a Vila Mia CIFA sack uh safety in the end zone to give Matterday the 2-0 lead. And you know, then they you know they held American Fork to 196 yards of total offense, held them to 2.6 rushing, yeah, 7.6 yards per reception. Danny Lang and Isaiah Dance each had interceptions to halt American Fork momentum drives because they were moving the ball, even though they were nickel and diming. Um, they had some success uh moving the field with the short passes, dragging the tight end underneath, um, you know, keeping uh modern days defense on the field, but eventually they would make the stops when needed. DJ Clanton, Ezekiel Sue, and Mike Davis all led with six tackles each, and Clanton also had a sack. Um, and then you know the game also marked the return of Gavin Honeri, who he caught four balls, but he had, you know, he he um had two punt re uh two kickoff returns as well. So you'll probably see him, you know, get worked into the office more. But but basically to sum it up, you know, the week zero brought some ups and downs. They showed some promising young players, but it also showed that its offense is gonna have to get more from its passing game and protect the ball if it's gonna survive the last seven games of the season. Um, as far as their offense, you know, I gave it a C and a defense a B. And then player the game was was a Sir Namhard, you know, 117 yards, the two TDs. Three of his runs were on the highlight caliber. And he's gonna have to touch the ball minimum 12 to 15 times. And I say minimum because I know they don't want to get him, you know, beat up and bruised up, but I know they alternate with Allen, but he's too dynamic not to get, you know, to get more touches. And um, you know, it was obvious that that you know he's gonna you know have a big season. So uh um let's just uh look out for that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we got a couple uh, you know, we're talking about uh that's the first hundred-yard rusher we've talked about so far in our our reports on the young season. Um we're gonna have one coming up here shortly as well, but uh a big start for him. Uh Scotty, what was the offensive grade for the Monarchs? C and B B for their defense. B defense. Okay. All right, Scotty. Let's go on to um uh another coaching debut. Um got a couple coming up here. We to we talked about uh Coach Fenton lost a narrow one in his uh debut at uh Orange Lutheran um to Miami Central. Um Jay Sarah made its debut under Coach Hardy Nickerson um on uh last week, and they lost at home to Sierra Canyon 42-21. Um Sierra Canyon Trailblazers uh did assert themselves in the first half to uh take a uh a 28-to a commanding 28-7 lead. Um Jay Sarah uh did battle and you know play that second half 14-14. That's a positive. Um other positives I'd say for certainly for the Lions, um, a guy that we do know well in the Trinity uh football podcast, Clark uh Coakley, uh Georgetown commit 13 catches, Scotty, for 116 yards. So um very good uh game for for Clark. Uh another highlight uh had a long uh interception return by um uh Braylon Spencer uh senior had returned he returned an interception 85 yards to the house as another highlight. But um yeah, maybe a little bit of a slow start uh course for Jay Sarah in the in the first half, but played better in the second half, some things to build upon there. We knew this was going to be a tough opener. We both picked Sierra Keenan to win this game, but what did you have on this game, Scotty?
SPEAKER_00You know, Jay Sarah looked really sharp in those cleaner 49er-like uh new unis. I don't know if if you ever if you got a chance to see those yet. But um, yeah. But other than that, I mean it was a tough first game for Hardy Nickerson's debut. You know, Sierra Canyon jumped out to the 21-0 lead before Jay Sarah could catch its breath. Uh Sierra Canyon's defense had its way with the J Sarah offensive line, you know, and that was no surprise with Marcus Fakatu, Kasai Curry, and Steven Harrison, you know, wreaking havoc. He limited Jay Sarah to 65 yards rushing. And then starting QB, Jack Hildenberg was the Lions' leading rusher with uh 28 yards. Um, and then constant pressure made it tough for them to get a rhythm going. Um, and when they did, it was Clark Coakley was the man to get the ball. And like you said, he hauled in 13 receptions, uh, even though it was only uh for 116 yards, you know, it was eight yards per catch. But uh Jay Sarah did get on the board when Hayes Clowder entered the start of the second quarter, and on its fourth offensive series, they drove down the field and he connected with Sam Frederickson for a uh a 10-yard like score to you know, bringing down 21 to 7. That was five minutes left. Um and then that was pretty much the closest Jay Sarah would come as uh Sierra Canyon went on to score 21 straight points for a 42-7 lead late into the third. And if you looked at the stat board, Sierra Canyon wasn't racking up the yards. I mean, they just had great field possession, or you could say their defense set them up with great field possession because Sierra Canyon only threw for 164 yards, including a 57-yarder um TD pass, and then they rushed for 115 yards with seven different ball carriers with longs of 17 and 19 yards. And then, you know, J Sarah added two late scores, including the 85-yard pick, six from the losing her transfer, Braylon Spencer's you you said, and then they got a late rushing TD from um uh Hildenberg um to cap out the scoring at at 21 points for for Jay Sarah. So, you know, for their offense, you know, you know, they struggled a bit. Um, you know, uh I gave them a C minus. And then on their defense, you know, I did mention I thought they had a valiant effort, you know, they they they played with them, so I I give them a C on that. Um, because I don't think that like I said, they Jay Sarah didn't really blow off the doors. They just you know scored on you know, you know, on short plays. I mean they had a few, you know, other than the 57-yarder. I think there was a a Wildcat play that uh Miles Baker took, and that that was pretty good. Cut back, you know, he kind of just burst it through the end zone, and that was a you know, but other than that, I mean it wasn't, you know, it's like I said, it's just I think the score just indicated looked worse on the scoreboard than it did in uh yeah, you know, on that. And then player the game, you know, got to go with cart cloak, you know. We like we said, his production is there, um, and he had the 13 receptions versus a tough secondary.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, you know, interesting. I I'm glad you brought up the stats. Uh and I was thinking the same thing where it wasn't, you know, the score probably looks a little bit worse than it actually was for uh for Jay Sarah. Um, and statistically, it's a pretty darn competitive game. Um, you know, some of these ones, not to dive too deep, but I mean, I I well, but we do dive deep here on the Trinity uh football podcast. So I'll throw a couple stats that you know, kind of like you were pointing out, a couple other ones that were interesting, Scotty. Jay Sarah had more first downs than Sierra Canyon in this game, 23 to 17. Kind of interesting. And then like the total yards, you know, you talked about, you know, um Sierra Canyon only throwing for 164, you know, Jay Sarah threw for 189, and it was um, you know, Sierra Canyon only outgained uh Jay Sarah uh 272 to uh 243. The the stat I felt like really hurt uh Jay Sarah was third down conversions. Uh you know, they were one for 13 on third-down conversions. Um that'll do it.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that will do it. And and Sierra Canyon, you know, I'm sure they're looking at this one. I think it hurt them. Is they uh I don't know if you saw this, they had a lot of penalties in that game. Um 18 penalties um for 150 yards. So um there were some interesting numbers in that game.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, they did yeah, the referees this year, and I and and I didn't mention it in one of the other games, but and I know we always talk, we always kind of like talk penalties, but usually that's later on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but um one of the emphasis of this year is is that they're not like it's the late hits because because uh if in this game, you know, they it was uh it wasn't like a uh a body slam, but the running back for Jay Sarah was kind of going and and the and he hit him high and he kind of like you know, he kind of aided in throwing him down, you know, instead of just letting him go, he should have just let him go. And it's so it looked like he body slammed him, you know, and so they threw a flag for that. So it's like any any any and then any unnecessary stuff. There was in and then the Santa Margarita game, there was uh, I think it was uh say Vandermaid, you know, kind of went down and hit the guy in the ground, kind of leading, but it wasn't like and they caught a late hit, and I'm like, but it was kind of in the in the so I think they're just kind of trying to clean up those little extra, you know, you see him go down, you know, instead of trying to go for the hit, you know, roll off on him, you know, instead. And then there were the other one there, they're also this is the biggest emphasis, and I heard about this um earlier at a at one of the scrimmages, is that a lot of teams have you seen when they try they try to punch the ball out. Um they're in the they're in like the hut, they're in like the squirm and the guy's running the DB's running or the running backs running the ball, and he has like three or four tacklers and they're holding him up, but his momentum is still carrying him, and the kit and the defenders sitting there trying to punch the ball. They're gonna call a penalty on that every time they send. And I know we saw that last year, I think a couple of times, I think Modern Day had had it a couple of times. I think, you know, I think uh, and we saw it in Santa Margarita and Dash, Fafita, I think Lecky, um Kalani did it a lot last year, you know, you know, you know, punched out the ball, you know. I think they were they were pretty much you know, like 500 on punching out the ball last year. Um, but it's gonna be it's an emphasis this year that the refs aren't gonna allow it, that they're gonna call the flag right off the bat. So keep that in mind and watching as as we progress.
SPEAKER_01And I've been mentioning and we've been mentioning sack numbers tonight, um, the amount of sacks, the eight sacks that Bosco allowed, the nine sacks that uh school record that Santa Margarita recorded. Um Sierra Canaan did get seven sacks against uh against uh Jay Sarah, so that's something for the Lions to work on. Uh Scotty, one more game to talk about. This was the uh the first game and another debut, uh coaching debut. That was Rick Eriksson, the new coach at Survite. And he also did not get the win in his debut, um, just like Hardy didn't and Coach Fenton didn't. Um so all the new coaches went 0-3 uh for the first night, and that was because Centennial defeated Servite 41 to 21. Um, there were some uh pretty big highlights for Centennial. Um a team we'll be talking about uh this year on the again on the Trent League Football Podcast, Jaden Um Jefferson, the dual threat quarterback, he was outstanding. I'm sure he'll be in your report um with his numbers uh passing and receiving. And of course, uh Quentin Hale made a uh spectacular one-handed uh catch uh at receiver. Um that was definitely a spark. I'm sure you'll have that in there. But you know, for Survite, um they did do some positives for sure against you know a ring, you know, the last year's Division I runner-up um in you know, in in the Centennial Huskies, they did make some positives considering the level of competition they were playing. When Jordan Wells, you know, has 13 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. That was definitely a positive. Um, and they got some Ben Harris, eight catches for 67 yards. That's uh uh positive. Um, as Scotty alluded to, don't be surprised to see some Alan Kennett, uh the linebacker playing a little running back. Scotty nailed that because Alan Connette did run for one of the the three touchdown runs that the Friars had. Um, but like in some of the other games we talked about, you know, Trina League teams kind of started slow. Um, you know, Centennial was up 21 to 7 at halftime, and then it was a decent game in the second half, but that separation early was was key. What did you have on this one, Scotty?
SPEAKER_00So yeah, this was obviously a fur, I think it was a I want to say it was a first game for both teams because both each showed room for improvement. You know, I know everybody talks about oh, Centennial looks like they're gonna go undefeated. They looked like, you know, but I know this is our podcast and I know we dive deep. So uh, you know, they showed some positive spots um to build on and you know and to be the strength of their team. And I think Survite showed that as well. But I think Centennial basically toyed with Survite and they got complacent, you know, when they jumped out to their 34-7 lead, because I think they could have like blown it out. And I think, you know, for the two and a half quarters, you know, Jaden Jefferson had his way with the Fryars. Um, and you know, that O-line was giving him time, you know, because Servite never really threatened with pressure. And then even when Survite had had them backed up like to their own three yard line, Jefferson throws it up to Quentin Hale, who makes with two Survite guys around him, and he makes a hauls the one-handed catch um down to get the Huskies out of their own territory, and then two plays later he hits Hill, Hale in the back of the end zone, and then it's up 21-0. Um, you know, four plays and 98 yards, and that's you know, that's Antenos offense for you. But the survey bright spot, you know, on the night was probably their running game. You know, it was an area of concern because we talked about depth issues, but I think the Fryers showed that they now have adequate backs behind Jordan Wells, you know, toughed out uh, you know, 117 yards, including in that 55-yard TD run. He had another 18-yard run that helped set up the Friars for score. Um, and then we saw Alan Kennet and sophomore Patrick Coven pound out positive yards. You know, though it wasn't much, um, you know, you can see that the run game can develop and then, you know, that they can develop and and and do it as this, you know, the season goes on. Um, because they held their own, I thought, against Centennial's front seven. You know, and then Centennial did, like I said, could have blown the game wide open. They took the foot off the gas, um, or that they were tired. I know they did rotate, they played a lot of kids on defense. Um, and then that last quarter and a half, you know, Servite seemed to get better control of the line of scrimmage. Um, they got Wells and Coven um chunk yards, you know, they cut the lead down to 14 before Centennial added the that the late TD to make it 41 on Kenny Leggett's uh run, you know, and if not for all the Centennial penalties that obviously I think affected their scoring opportunities, you know, could they could have you know you know put up a lot more early in the game. Um, you know, I I I think you know, right before the half, Centennial had marched down the field, minute and 16 seconds left on the clock. They get three consecutive penalties, no fine, a Kenny Leggett TD run. That basically ended the half. So they got no points out of that. And then, you know, for Survite, it was like kind of more of the same. Um, the passing game couldn't get going. You know, Geno Wayne was 48%, 13 of 27 for 77. Yards and he couldn't get more than a 14-yard completion. You know, but Benjamin Harris did catch seven passes, but he only had 46 yards. So, you know, it was, you know, was it the sent, you know, centennial secondary or or you know the pressure? I mean, I mean, yes, it was. It was both, you know, the season's young. You know, we'll just have to wait and see. You know, and then the other key was that Camille uh Pelomello only played exclusively on defense uh at corner. So that's something to see. If I don't know if he's gonna come back, maybe it was just for this game, if he's gonna play both ways. So that's something to what to watch. Um, you know, so as far as their offense goes, you know, I I give them a a C and um their defense. This one's tough. It's uh you know, you never want to give anybody a D, you know, D plus, C minus. Um, you know, Servite's gonna have to do a lot to uh uh so they don't have to give up because I because they gave up, I think, two 282 yards passing with Jefferson, and I think he rushed for close to uh over 100 yards, if I'm not mistaken. So um, you know, that's gotta be short up. Uh, and then you know, player of the game, uh, you know, Jordan Wells ran pretty good versus a uh Centennial defense, and um so there you go. So what are your grades on the Friars? See on I mean C on offense, and I'll just go see, I'm gonna go see minus, you know. I mean, that's Centennial they're playing. Like I said, they they did pull it, you know, a foot off the gas, but uh like I said, I don't want to, you know, just know that Surbert's gotta, you know, they gotta um short some things up, but it was a first game, so you know, we'll have to wait and see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, interesting guys to watch. Um Pelovello is definitely a guy to watch uh because we know what he can he could bring offensively, but uh Friars might need him on defense, so we'll see where where it goes. You know, as Servite's you know trying to utilize that speed. Um, but some you know, definitely we and that was another one. We knew that this was gonna be a tough opener for Servite taking on the Huskies with what they have now at that combination going at receiver and quarterback, guys we mentioned, um, you know, that was gonna be a tough opener. So um give some, you know, gives Fryer some things to work on. All these teams, as we talk about a two and four opening round, Scotty, the Trinity League teams, they got, you know, that's what the challenge is now. They got to watch the film, they got to make corrections, um, they got to stay the course, improve, and um, you know, try to make that big leap. Uh, you know, from week one to your second game, you know, you can see a lot of improvement, and um, you know, that's that's gonna be the challenge for everybody uh this week. So, Scotty, let's look at the uh the schedule. Uh starting out, this is week one, um coming up on Friday, August 28th, five Trinity League games. I want to start with the Braves. Like we said, uh Scotty had this the stat at the beginning of the show. Braves looking to end a three-game slide, surprisingly, um, you know, dating back to last season. Playing host to Roman Catholic. Scotty, um, what's your what's your uh breakdown on this game?
SPEAKER_00So Roman Catholic hasn't played a game yet, so this will be their first game. Uh and they are the number four team in the state of Pennsylvania. Yep. However, only one team in Pennsylvania is nationally ranked at 86. So that gives you an idea of the caliber that they're at. So um, you know, I look for the Braves to get back on the winning track. You know, they're gonna get some, uh I think they'll get a lot of guys some playing time in this one. But um, yeah, this will just be a bounce back game for the Braves.
SPEAKER_01All right. Uh, speaking of bounce back, a couple teams uh we're gonna talk about right now, all looking for bounce backs, looking to get their coaches their first win. Let's keep it with the Friars. They go out to take on Miriad of Valley. These teams have been playing the last couple years. Marriott Valley lost its opener. So both these teams, 0-1. Myriaded Valley um usually has some pretty physical play. Um, they've played some pretty competitive games the last couple years. So it's good to see that the Friars and the Nighthawks are continuing to play this this series. Marrietta Valley is going to be uh the home team. Who what do you have on this game, Scotty?
SPEAKER_00So yeah, they're right now, I think, 17th in California, I think, unless unless it changes. But um, I I think they're also like I saw in another poll, they were uh they they moved them down to like 20. But anyhow, there's there's they're still in that that range. Um they are coming off of an upset loss to Rancho. If um if if you you know I think they were supposed to be favored in that one. Uh Ranch Cookamonga scored 14 unanswer points in the second half to win that game. I know Marietta Valley lost.
SPEAKER_01What's that? Yeah, 28 to 14.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so I know Marietta Valley lost a lot to graduation last year. Um, so I wouldn't I don't expect you know Marietta Valley to give Servite too much trouble. I think Survite, you know, won that game handily last year. Um so look for the Friars to bounce back um and regroup from last week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you mentioned the upset. Um, you know, if you look at the um the press enterprise uh football rankings, it was actually they actually had Rancho Cookamonga ranked higher. Um they had the um the Cougars uh third in their rankings, and right there a couple spots lower was uh Marietta Valley. So um, you know, Nighthawks, they were uh they've been they've been pretty tough in uh division two um with some semifinal runs in recent years. Um got a uh quarterback that the uh friar saw last year in uh Ty uh Isiah. Um he's back as a guy to watch. Um they have a good uh lineman, Vincent Shields. Um, but yeah, like you mentioned, some uh some graduation um has uh hit hit them. All right, Sky. Uh let's go on again uh on this coming Friday. How about Jay Sarah playing host to Long Beach Wilson? Uh uh what do you think about this game?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so Long Beach Wilson's already 0-1. Yes, uh the Moley Warrior League foe lost a one-point loss, 41-40 to Mayfair. The Bruins are 332 in California. So I don't think Jay Sarah's gonna have issues there. They should be able to control the line of scrimmage and uh allow them to you know to maybe work on some timing. Uh, you know, I would I would look for Hayes Clowder to start or you know play more as he seemed to look more comfortable running the offense um last week. Uh so but yeah, Jay Sarah should should you know have no problem in this one.
SPEAKER_01All right. Here is so maybe Hardy Nickerson gets his uh first win of the season uh uh uh with his Jay Sarah tenure uh on this coming Friday. So that could be exciting. Um hopefully maybe uh Coach Garretsen gets his survey. How about Coach Fenton? You know, we talked about in the preview last week. Scotty reminded us that Orange Lutheran's playing the toughest schedule in the nation. And it doesn't get any easier this week, Scotty. Orange Lutheran on the road in San Diego against Cathedral Catholic. Um, and this is the opener for Cathedral Catholic, right? Um, you saw Cathedral Catholic uh take on modern day in the scrimmage. We know they got some pretty uh interesting guys, um, you know, um and and some touted guys. I'm sure you're gonna talk about um, you know, one of them for sure. Um their number nine uh USC commit honor, um, who uh can play some running back and uh defense as well. But uh Scotty, uh what do you have on this game?
SPEAKER_00So yeah, Cathedral Catholics, you know, number 11 in California and uh 81 nationally. Um and uh you know, like you said, they did they played the scrimmage versus you know Modern Day, which was three weeks ago. And in that scrimmage, Modern Day scored four four TDs and a field goal to Cathedral Catholics one touchdown that came against Modern Day's second team. So however you want to you know gauge that. Um and uh however the two-way star honor, you know, Favale and its top lineman, uh Sofa Laif Luffy, did not play in the scrimmage. So, or no dirt, or nor did uh quarterback Koa Smith Mayal, who has you know who transferred over there. I know he was also maybe battling, you know, they hadn't picked a QB yet. Um, so unsure who's gonna get the starting job as that both could play, or if you may not be clear, I I don't know yet on that one. Um, but Cathedral Catholic is San Diego's area's top team. Um, you know, if Or Lutherans can can capitalize on its opportunities, protect the ball, and keep the penalties at bay because Orange Lutheran committed four unsportsman-like personal fouls last week. Um, but if they keep all that, they should, I think they they, you know, they could win, you know, as long as they know where honor is on the field at all times. Don't, you know, because I mean that guy could could single-handedly beat you. Um, but um, you know, this will be a good game, you know, you know, unless, you know, because I know I know you know Cathedral Catholic didn't show, you know, it's for Arsenal in the in the scrimmage. Um, you know, and they like I said, they could come out, you know, with it looking like a different team. So um, you know, was that locked up? That was gonna be an interesting one. I'm not sure who who I would go with at this point in time. I would, you know, do I want to lean with our Trinity League brethren? Um, you know, let's just say if if Olu plays a perfect game, they can win it.
SPEAKER_01So Okay, yeah, this is gonna be a uh tough one. Um last year um I saw Cathedral Catholic play against Coach Ray Fenton's Losal uh Griffins in the uh SoCal playoffs. And uh Cathedral uh did win in that uh SoCal regional final to get to the state. Um took it to uh took it to uh Losal pretty good. Um but there's some personnel to kind of watch, I think, with uh Orange Lutheran. We'll see about um looking them to bounce back after that um painful loss. Um I do think Survite can win. I think uh I'm picking Servite, I'm picking Oh Lutheranite. Yeah, I know I'm going back, yeah. Servite, J Sarah. But um This one's gonna be a tough one. They're on the road. I think it really has it helps them um advantage-wise um that they you know, Orange Lutheran that they played. Though I saw late in the game that Toki did go down, it looked like maybe with cramps. I don't know if you saw that as well.
SPEAKER_00I think it was more it was more of a cramp.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I think uh I think it's gonna be a good game. I'll pick on Orange Lutheran. Um who are you gonna pick?
SPEAKER_00I said Olu if if they if they play a perfect game. So I mean, like I said, they have to be a perfect game. If it doesn't be a perfect game and they end up, you know, we go through this and we see you know Cathedral Catholic wins, you know, I wouldn't be like I said, I won't I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm gonna I'm gonna go with our brethren. So okay.
SPEAKER_01So and I'm also we're both picking Bosco to win. Here's the game of the week on Friday. Santa Margarita uh going out the road to take on Centennial. Both those teams 1-0. This is a big one, Scotty. I'm gonna be covering it for the register, excited to do so. Um, you know, you were throwing out some good stats of the day. Here's one that uh kind of surprises me um in some regards, but Santa Margarita has beat Centennial three straight um times in this uh kind of uh limited series. Uh the Eagles lead the the all-time series 4-1, but of course there was the sweep last year. Um one was a very dramatic game. Santa Margarita winning the non-league game 33-27. Um, that was a great game. Um, and then of course the final at the Rose Bowl in the Division I final. That was the Trent Mosley show, uh, the defensive show 42-7. Um, and uh yeah, the Eagles demolished the the Huskies in that one. Tough night for Centennial, but yeah, Santa Margaret was on fire and uh they were on a mission and they were not going to be denied, and uh they took it to the Huskies uh in that one 42-7. So you know uh Centennial would love to get a little bit revenge uh for these defeats last year. Um and they're on a three-game losing streak uh to the Eagles overall. Um there is a key injury to watch. Uh I don't know if you mentioned, I don't think you mentioned it earlier that uh Jaden Walk Green uh has got uh got an injury, the defensive back for uh Centennial. He is a really good uh defensive back. Um but Santa Margarita playing that defense already once again. Um we'll see how Fletch Palmer and the quarterback um and the offense does uh in this one against a uh stronger opponent in Centennial. What's your thoughts on this one, Scotty?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, very interesting because we all know what but what what Santa Margarita did to the Huskies in both of those games. So, you know, very interesting to see if more of the same happens or not. You know, um I'm gonna go with I think it's gonna be a good good and fun game. I think it's you know Santa Margarita's gonna have their their moments, and I think Centennial will have their moments, you know, but I wouldn't pass put it past defensive coordinator Fafita, you know, if he comes up with some type of defensive gym. I mean, you know, this defense, you know, looks faster and better up front than it did last year. They may not have the same backers, though freshman steam looks awful good. So, you know, we'll see how the Santa Maria reoffense can do. You know, you know, like I said, it's gonna be, you know, they're gonna need better, you know, a better run game, you know, and and now you're gonna have another, you're gonna go up against another quick, you know, defense up front. It may not be as as as stout as those two guys were, because those two guys were called, you know, you know, four-star guys, but Centennial puts up, you know, sends a lot of guys and they rotate a lot of guys, and they're still quick and you know up front. So that's gonna be um you know very interesting. And you know, whether or not you know, Jaden Jefferson, you know, is gonna be the same thing because last year he had no uh Catalano had no time at all. Uh, you know, Lucky and Lucky and Um and Dash is just came up that just blitzed the middle. So we'll see if if if it you know Santa Margarita has has that same capability if they if they just you know keep this with the blueprint. Um, you know, I noticed, you know, when I watched uh last game that um the splits uh that uh Centennial had were very wide. Now I know uh Centennial has always had wide splits, but I don't I know for uh you know there was a few years where this where the splits got a little bit tighter. Um so I don't know. You know, it was just interesting to see. So I don't, you know, um, but uh we'll just have to wait and and see what happens in this one. But uh and then yes, Jaden Walt Green is I think is out. Um he's been injured. He didn't he all he hasn't played all summer, and um and that is a big loss. So I don't know if he's gonna be back down the line or if it's if he's gonna be um out for the year. But uh, you know, that that secondary, you know, looked pretty good, you know, in that in that survey game. You know, they were flying fast of the ball, you know, so we'll just have to wait and see um if they do if um you know if they can come back and do the same against uh the Eagles. Who are you gonna pick in this one, Scotty? I'm gonna say Santa Maria. I'm gonna say go and say Santa Margarita.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I don't I I'm you know it's I think it's gonna be Centennial.
SPEAKER_00Um, I'm gonna go Centennial just because if that offense, you know, like I said, I think Centennial's defense, if they do, if they contain and shut down that run game, I think they back on that back end can you know can give Santa Margarita problems. I am, you know, like I said, I'm I'm I'm not sure if if that you know, unless that defense just just you know can send the house on every play like they did last year. So yeah, I'm you know what I'm gonna go send, I'm gonna go Centennial. But I wouldn't be surprised.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I tell you, my feeling is if Santa Margarita wins this game, watch out because man, those guys, those young players, you know, starting with three freshmen on defense, man, those guys are um made some serious progress very quickly. Um because you know, you look at the rest of the schedule, uh, as far as the non-league, I mean, if if the Eagles get past this one, then they play Highland, uh Durkham, who I don't know, I don't, you know, I don't know much about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the Eagles schedules, yeah. After this, it's like, yeah, they're just gonna they probably won't give up after this game. I I'm gonna say guaranteed the Eagles don't give up more than uh seven points a game. So and they'll have a couple of few shutouts in that as well.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, Durkham's a team from Sacramento, yeah. All right, Sadie. Uh Scotty, the uh schedule ends for week one, which has got some intrigue, uh some potential big victories.
SPEAKER_00Obviously, uh one more game left.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for uh ends on Saturday. Um and uh Moder Day is gonna be on playing on Saturday, and they are going on the road, Scotty. Back they're going to Utah taking on Orim. Um, one of the top uh teams uh right in um in Utah. Uh, what do you have on this game?
SPEAKER_00So Orim is is uh one and one. Uh they are number eight in Utah, but that that might may change. Uh they're coming off a 21-14 loss to Sky Ridge, who was Utah's number six team. Uh Orim was number three coming into the game, so I think they are now like, yeah, they're gonna be but eight. Um, but prior to that, they do have a 16-7 win over Hawaii's number four team. Yeah, uh Kamehameha Kapalama. And um, you know, but Oram has only scored two offensive TDs, one in each game. But the defense has two pick sixes in in those two games. So uh Gorham's gonna have to to figure it out pretty quick with the Monarchs, you know, defense coming to Utah. Um, you know, maybe maybe that's why Orham played two Kibies last week. Uh so you know, I think Modern Day plays a clean lane, solid defensively. They come home 2-0.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, like you said, Orham's been doing some good stuff defensively. I see they already have four interceptions. Um, so that's a pretty good amount um already in two games.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, their defensive front is they have three guys. One guy is going to Oklahoma. Um the other two guys are on the radar for recruiting purposes, recruiting wise. So that'll be interesting. That'll be that'll be interesting. Um, and like you said, yeah, that's so they're they're definitely a defensive-led team. I think they are probably, you know, if you want it because them and American Fork were really close in in rating. And you know, I think American Fork may have a better offense, not so defense, whereas this time Orman's gonna have the better offense, defense, but I know on offense, they're all they have a huge offensive line on offense. So, but again, I mean, but they've they haven't shown and done anything. I mean, they rushed for 17 yards last week, but um, and that was in a in a in a thunderstorm. You know, I guess they said in Utah the last two weeks, they've had they've had bad thunderstorm weather, like Florida. You know, they've had delays in games. I don't know what I haven't looked to see what the forecast is, but um you know, I know rain will always, you know, kill an offense, you know, um, and kind of you know change that. But so we'll have to wait and see. So all right.
SPEAKER_01Well, if we both got modern day winning on Saturday, right?
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01That could mean with based on our predictions. We got the Trinity League going five and one this week, Scotty, with the one team losing in a in a very close game, perhaps in Santa Margarita. So uh who knows, maybe we'll be wrong, and the Trinity League will go six and oh, uh Scotty, after a two-and-four showing in week zero.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's like I said, this year is is gonna be crazy. So, and we already got off to that that start.
