In this week’s message from Galatians 2, we explored the unshakable foundation of the gospel message: we are justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by works of the law.

Paul boldly defends this truth, showing that his message came directly from Christ and is in full agreement with the other apostles. Yet even in the early church, false teachers were pressuring believers to add religious works to faith. Paul refuses to compromise in order to preserve the integrity of the true gospel.

The tension becomes personal when Paul confronts Peter for withdrawing from Gentile believers out of a fear of man. His actions sent the message that faith in Christ wasn’t enough. It’s a sobering reminder that even faithful leaders can drift, and that the truth of the gospel must be guarded with courage and clarity.

At the center of it all is this defining truth: we are made right with God through faith in Christ alone. This kind of faith isn’t just any kind of belief. It is: receiving Him, trusting Him, and resting fully in Him as our greatest treasure.

Because we have been crucified with Christ, our old life is gone, and Christ now lives in us. To return to works of the law as a means of salvation would be to nullify grace, and we do not nullify the grace of Christ!
