Speaker 1:

Hello, hello, welcome back to the passive income project. It's Ryan here. I'm still here, mate. You haven't got rid of me yet. Sorry, who are you? I'm still here. No one fired me. Welcome back, I still exist, mate. Today we're doing something a little bit different. We're talking about where we're gonna take things with the podcast from here on out. What's, uh, what's the go?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so it's not a deep dive. We've been doing a lot of thinking, a lot of chatting, and there's a lot changing in the business, a lot happening at the moment, and this is just a part of that. So we wanted to record a bit of an episode to kind of keep you in the loop and have you participate in the conversation. That's really what this is about. We want this to be the most shared personal finance podcast in Australia and, whilst we're pretty damn happy, I've never would have thought, never ever would I have thought that the podcast would be downloaded more than 500,000 times. Love it. Well, we reckon we can do even better. So let's talk through some of the things we've been doing, mate.

Speaker 1:

So, basically, I think we've heard this feedback from quite a few people coming through, from our members, from Reviews and things like that, and there's really two big things that have stood out.

Speaker 1:

The first one is that you want more episodes more often, and the second is that you're also like shorter, sharp represents to not just these long, big, deep dives that Require more time and more energy, probably just a process as well.

Speaker 1:

So we just want to take that on board, and we probably struggle with doing this in the past, just because you know one, we run a business, you know, not ads for other businesses, so time and resources have been constraints but also that We've probably been quite purists in the sense that we've never wanted to waste your time. It is your most precious resource and we truly believe that, and so that's meant that for every episode that we've created, you could probably assume that for every one minute of content that you've streamed, we've probably spent around probably at least six minutes learning, planning and then producing it. You know, creating that and sharing and we see this as point of difference Make sure that every time you tune in, you're getting something very valuable, something that's worthwhile, and you can use that information to do something with it, and we've been a little bit reluctant to let go of that, and so we had the realization that it's not one or the other. We can absolutely do both. We can still Give more, but also share more at the same time.

Speaker 2:

Yeah and the other realization, too, is that, you know, in being a little bit too purist, we potentially might have optimized for maybe one type of listener and unintentionally Alienated others, and so we look at that and look at how things have changed in terms of who those listeners are. We were like, we are getting this data and we're getting this. You know, the most meaningful ones we get is the actual DMs. If people are DMing us, they're sending. Don't think that's a waste of time. We read every single one of them. We can't reply to everything all the time, yeah, but those kind of things we're actually talking about all the time. So if somebody's taking the time to sort of talk, tell us what they like or what they want to hear more of. These are the kind of things that have come up in that conversation. So, anytime you've dropped a comment in the community of Santa's, a DM, you've sent us a deal in Instagram. We have heard you, and so we've been thinking a lot about you, and if you're not getting what you need, we've kind of thinking how can we give more of our audience, more of what they need? Hmm, so I think that's gonna, I guess, the intent with this and where we're going with it. We want to give you more of what you want for more of you, and so it's kind of it's gonna be cool.

Speaker 2:

I think I'm actually pretty excited about where we've got to with this, because I think we're gonna be able to Maintain the quality in the substance that we've always had. I think we can publish a little bit more frequently, whilst we can also improve variety and relevance at the same time. We don't want to be in your face every day, because we want you to actually reflect and do as well. That's probably one of the things for us that's important. We've always sort of thought that, like, if you just throwing stuff at people all the time, they cannot implement, hmm. So we want to keep enough time and space to be able to do that, but we want to give you more of what you want as well. So that's kind of the the line that we're trading here. Mate, do you want to talk about the series as well? Because we're still good. They're still gonna be a very prominent feature aren't they?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, for sure, and even just on your point there, right, we do want you to take that time and reflect, but at the same time, if you can get hit from different angles with this type of thing and you want to go complete immersion I'm following us on Instagram, follow us on Facebook. We're starting to publish a lot more there too. So you know, the best way to learn French is to live in France, and so you know, if you can, you immerse yourself on different platforms and have it hitting you. That is definitely a great way of going about it.

Speaker 1:

So, series going forward there's still going to be a core feature really big, deep dives. You know, going down those wormholes on really big topics and making sure that we do them as best we possibly can and getting the best thought leaders to help us do so too. But we will break those series up and have more one-off episodes. I guess. Ideas that we're talking about, we're discussing, but also pulling on old-time this, ideas that we can resurface as well and go deeper on really specific or single ideas, just to add more nuance to them, as well as getting more diverse voices as well, bringing on great experts and kind of extending our reach there too, just so this platform can become one where you can tune in, get a good hit from time to time Might just be 20 minutes on a walk or the drive to work or on the tram or whatever it is, but then also be able to take a couple of hours on a Sunday to do a deep series and really kind of deepen your knowledge base in this realm as well.

Speaker 2:

You know what? I think we've been mate. I think we've just been serving T-bone steak and people would love to chew on T-bone and have just been loving it. But then people who want salad are like just give me a salad every now and then, because you're a little bit of dressing, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Now the salad is still going to have some substance because that's how we roll, but it's going to be a damn good salad, but it'll just be different to a T-bone, so that's really just a little bit of extra contrast. So, wherever you are at, maybe you don't have an hour to kind of deep dive on a topic, but maybe you've got 15 to 20 minutes. We want a cater for that as well, yep, and we think we can do it this way without sacrificing substance as well. But we need your help with this, guys, because this is going to be a change in direction and we know a lot of you love the way we're doing it now, and so we would hate for you to feel like we're losing, I guess, our core. So we want your feedback along the way. We want you to tell us what you want, to hear more about, how you're enjoying things, what you think of these new formats, and just keep the conversation going with us, because it's not what we want. It's what we want for you and what you've said you want.

Speaker 2:

So if you're not liking it or you want to see more of something else, keep dropping us reviews, keep dropping us comments in the community, keep sending us DMs, and probably the other part of this, too, is we're going to have a little question box in the community. So if you are as part of our community, you could just drop a question in that box, something that you've been pondering and what we'll guarantee you is that we are going to be reviewing those questions regularly and if we start to see patterns in a type of question that's going to signify to us that's something that we need to look at. We're going to consider everything on its merits. We're not going to be able to publish everything, but if we do see a pattern, then we're going to be acting on that. So that's our guarantee for you your idea will be seen and considered, but we can't do everything Anything you'd add to that mate?

Speaker 1:

I don't think so. No, jump in the community. I think you could probably assume if you ask a really good question, then within the two to three weeks that follow there'll be an episode on it. Is that a big blame or what? Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it depends on how many questions we get. Well, we're getting a lot to a lot of questions. It might take us time to sift through, but that's a pretty good aim. I reckon that's a good one. Let's see how we go with it, yeah it's a big claim.

Speaker 1:

Now that I think about it, let's have a crack. We're optimistic. Love it, mate Good stuff.

Speaker 2:

Well, look, this is it, man. Like we don't need to do any more than that. This is more of an announcement, less of an episode. So tell us what you think of this new direction. If you like this, what's your reaction? Obviously, humans hate change, but hopefully we're presented in a way that's not alarming. Hopefully it's exciting. We're excited. I think we can do a lot more and I think we can reach a lot more people as well. So, if you do appreciate what we're doing, just keep helping us share the podcast, because it helps us with all the guests.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

We can say hey, this is the podcast, this is the reach, this is the demographic. You cannot believe how much that helps us get you more guests. So if we could ask one thing of you for that keep sharing, rating and reviewing the podcast, because at Faster it Grows, the more clout we have for the guests that matter.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, and if you guys that have been listening along for a while, you can rest assured that I do still have a pulse. I'm still here. I've been in the background working on a few things, building some tech products, and there's going to be some cool stuff coming out soon. We're going to have a lot more to share on the training front as well, so excited to share that we couldn't do a couple of series with two blocks.

Speaker 2:

Just wouldn't quite be right, would?

Speaker 1:

it Very good.

Speaker 2:

But hey, thanks for coming along and let's chat again soon. Sounds good.
