Creating Your Episode Transcript
As you select each episode on Buzzsprout, you'll see the Add a Transcript button in the right-hand navigation menu. Click this to see the option for Buzzsprout Transcripts!

Using the Transcript Editor
Your transcript isn't meant to be a word-perfect version of your audio, but it should be a clear and accurate reflection of your episode's message. You should only need about 15 minutes to quickly review your transcription and make high-level edits.
Toolbar Essentials
The toolbar is your command center for editing! Let's walk through each function:
- Speakers: The editor automatically detects each speaker in your episode. You can preview a clip of each voice and assign names accordingly. Click the down arrow to select a different speaker, or start typing the speaker's name into the box! Once you're done, click Save Speakers to apply your changes or Cancel to discard them.
- Undo/Redo Arrows: Made a mistake while editing? Use the Undo and Redo buttons in the toolbar to quickly go back or forward.
- Find and Replace Search: Click the Find icon to search for certain words or phrases. We'll highlight all matching results throughout the transcript. You can navigate between them using the arrow keys, replacing each text either individually or all at once by clicking Replace All.
- Shortcuts: This tab shows you some shortcuts that will make your editing process more streamlined!
- Download: When you press the Download button, you'll see the options to download the transcript as a TXT, SRT, or VTT file to your device.
- Episode Player: At the bottom of your screen, you'll find a player to listen to your episode. As it plays, each word in the transcript will highlight in sync with the audio! Here are a few tips for navigating the player:
- Double-click any word in the transcript to jump directly to that sentence in the episode player.
- Adjust the playback speed by clicking the 1x icon.
- Scroll through the transcript, and click Jump to Play Position to return to the current spot in the audio.
Editing Tips
- Line Breaks: Press return/enter once to create a new line in your transcript.
- New Monologues: Press return/enter twice to start a fresh monologue with a new speaker.
- Add Words or Phrases: If you see missing words or content, you can add them to your transcript. Note: We recommend doing this only for essential words, as adding content can disrupt the timestamps linked to each word in the transcript.
- Play/Pause Audio: Double-click anywhere in the transcript to start playing the audio from that point. To pause the audio, press the space bar!
Once you’ve polished your transcript, don’t forget to click the
Save button so your changes stick.
