Bilingual Parenting Strategies with Kaila Díaz from Bilingüitos

Kaila Diaz is a linguist who specializes in childhood and family bilingualism. In 2016, she started the program Bilingüitos as a resource for bilingual families in her area with classes, play dates, field trips and more. Another venture was the “Bilingual Parenting Podcast” which launched in 2019. As of 2020, Bilingüitos’ programs are both in-person and virtual, and focus on Spanish immersion and enrichment for young learners. Bilingüitos’ mission statement is “cultivating and celebrating bilingualism.” At home, Kaila and her husband communicate predominantly in Spanish and are raising their own Bilingüita bilingually and biculturally in the Washington, D.C. area.
