A good martial artist does not become tense, but ready. Essentially, at this point the fight is over, so you pretty much flow with the goal. Who is worthy to be trusted with the secret to limitless power? I'm ready, I'm going to leg lock camp. I'm going to Melbourne and I'm going to hang out with the Polish boys. I'm going to hang out with Mateusz Straczynski, Straczynski, straczynski, hang out with Mateusz Szczecinski, szczecinski, szczecinski, so his last name implies that his family is from Szczecin, which is the home city of my wife, szczecin and he's, which is in the far, far west of Poland, it's an hour and a bit from Berlin. And also his coach, camille Wilk, who's also a beast leg locker, and they're doing it. They're doing it at Absolute MMA in Melbourne. And guess who else is going to be there? Joseph Chen oh yeah, might have heard of him. And obviously Lockie and Levi and all the other bad mofos going to be there, mikhail, like, it's great. And so I'm super excited because it's three days, it's a, it's a two a day over three days, kind of thing.
Speaker 1:Poland seems to have a very, seems to punch above its weight, I mean actually, no, it's kind of silly because their population be much larger than ours. No, I don't not necessarily like poland's relatively, relatively small compared the rest of europe, right, in terms of landmass, there were times in history but their population, sure, it's more than they took over the whole map. Like you know, these fucking tiny european countries have a hundred million people. We've got this huge country like 25 million people. Yeah, and, and the thing is the truth is I don't, we should, I should have googled that. I don't know the population of pol. My wife will kill me right now. Chuck it in, chuck it in, okay, but anyway, seems to be like a lot of really high level Polish grapplers. Yeah, I mean, adam Wazinski comes from Poland. He's Polish, right? Yes, he's a multiple time champion now. Yeah, he seems to win a bunch of shit. Yeah, man, we, yeah man.
Speaker 1:We met him at the ADCC in 2019, him and his partner, and he just looked like a porn star, because he didn't have the full beard, he just had the mustache and the long blonde hair. He just looked like a 70s boy. He's such a lovely guy. He, um, at world's no gi. He's a brown belt and he trains from gorilla. Gorilla MMA, uh, which is in Warsaw. I've been to their gym.
Speaker 1:Um, the gentlemen's. The young gentleman's name escapes me. I'm finding it now oh, pavel Javorski. He's a beast. Yeah, wow, uh and so, uh, and so why are these guys doing a Leglock camp at Absolute, like what's the connect? They did a Leglock camp with Owen Flanagan as well. They did one in Europe, I don't know. They're just on a bit of a tour, I believe, and they obviously got some good shit. They got some great shit.
Speaker 1:And I think the great thing about Lockie is, even though he is really good at Leglocks, he's like well, what you guys working on? Because they, oh right, he beat Levi in Polaris. He's the Polaris champ, right, and so it's like what a great way for Levi to get better, to get that guy in and for them to have leg lock battles, yeah Right. Also, joseph Chen will be there. Now some people say they didn't give Joseph enough rest when Levi beat Joseph. Yeah, so they're saying maybe Joseph Chen got unfairly done by when did Levi beat him At Polaris? They had like a tournament thing. Yeah, okay. And they're saying that, yeah, maybe he wasn't rested enough and Levi got his back and it was kind of all over him. Levi was rested, joseph was not.
Speaker 1:But I think what's great about getting so many good people together is you just get a crazy fusion of learning, like you know, provided everyone's open to sharing. We've seen J-Rod training with Tynan Dalpera. I recently saw Lucas Lepre training with Tynan Dalpera. Is Lepre still in there doing the thing? No, he's retired, but you could probably see him pop out for a super fight or something the greatest middleweight with one of the greatest lightweights of all time and have them sparring together. It's crazy. It'd be awesome to see Lepre do like a who's number one or some shit. Yeah, for sure, and what I? I saw the opportunity and I'm like these guys are the absolute best at what they do in the world. Three days with these guys, just two days. I actually I pick up a lot from that.
Speaker 1:I think the benefit, the reason why I wanted to talk about this, is and I think people have been changing the format of a seminar Now I've talked shit about seminars in the past. I think we both said that it's hard to gain real insight from just two hours with a world champion, cause they might just be showing some some stuff that you're like oh, this isn't relevant to me, I don't know what this is. And you meet them. You take the photo, like when I went to the Lucas Lepre seminar, well, it was fucking sick, but I remember nothing, nothing, and at the time I was like I'm having a real hard time with this. But Lucas has a very slow cadence as well. He's a very, but also he's so fucking high level in the game that you're like there was like 37 steps, yes, to this part, every little grip, and yeah, it's so perfect.
Speaker 1:But yeah, yeah, that's right, we have been critical because it, because it is well, it's a big part of the jujitsu economy that um, jujitsu um pros make money off a seminar tour. Yeah, especially if you just want a big championship, right, yeah, especially if you just won a big championship, right, yeah, that's how you're going to make your money for the year. You can do 20 seminars, however many thousands of dollars per seminar. That's how you get your money. Kind of like a recording artist, you don't necessarily make money off the album, you make money off the tour.
Speaker 1:But the question is, how effective is it as a learning tool? What I really liked about this setup is it's a morning session and an evening session, three days. Yeah, that's good. And so, yeah, there's rolling, there's specific training and you're getting input from a few different people and with a lot of high level people on the mat. I'm fucking pumped for it. Yeah, that'd be sick.
Speaker 1:I got a secret. You know what that secret is? It's this, my friends, it's electrolytes. Now you might be drinking water and you're like, but it's not working. Look, the key to hydration is actually electrolytes. What are they? They are salts that keep the water in your muscles so you can use them when you're rolling. You know who's got electrolytes? Sodium, the sponsor of today's show, sodiicomau. This is the spot where you can get the most delicious drinking salts, the perfect blend of sodium, potassium and magnesium. And you know what? If you use the code BULLETPROOF15, you get 15% off. That way you can actually be hydrated, you can roll better and feel better. Get some today, hopefully. You know what.
Speaker 1:What like for my learning style and I think you're better. Like you know, you are an encyclopedia when it comes to jiu-jitsu, but for my learning style, I would like if I'll do morning and evening for three days, I would almost like to cover only like the same thing, one or maybe two things. So it's like hey, for the first three sessions, we're just doing this. Yeah, and so you just get the second more reps, third session more. You know, I love that idea. I always believe that less is more.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know, yeah, I think and I I think this probably comes from coaching experience, because you've said this before um, you mentioned this when you, I think you, did the range of strength seminar that what you also liked about it was that he didn't over coach. I think you, you, that was like a strong thing. I remember from that that you like that he allows people to try a thing before he even said, you know, like cause I might do it really well, so he doesn't need to say anything, and then he can kind of observe people's success and failure and go from there. And and I think, if you've been in the coaching game for a while, like just detailing and explaining to the nth degree doesn't guarantee that the person's going to do it better. Like letting people try the thing and fuck up is a really good way to then guide them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but for me, I just want to roll with those motherfuckers. I just want to roll, joseph Chen, so I can be like yeah, okay, here's the truth, or I'm making a comeback. Folks, well, I totally am. I'm so back, but no, I want to feel, because I've observed these guys on the internet Like God, they look like savages, right, but I just for me, there's some truth in rolling a person that you can learn a lot from. Are they really aggressive, or are they really calm, or you know how smooth are their transitions for you to just go, it really does translate to you understanding them as a jujitsu person, and so that's what I'm excited for, as much as the learning. I want to hang out with those super killers and just just fucking copper feel.
Speaker 1:I want to see you get highlighted. I'm going to be so highlighted, bro joseph chen media team, please highlight this motherfucker. No, it'll be easy. If man, if kid dale's still in town, I will be memed hard. Oh, he's been. He's been in melbourne, he's been at absolute training a bit, which is cool, which is nice, like kid's a. And so Kit is the king of just catching people in bad moments, like Craig definitely modeled himself on Kit, because Kit just always just would just catch in a bad moment and keep it and then make a meme out of you. This is before Instagram, you know, but no, it's going to be exciting. I'm excited to report back.
Speaker 1:So, leglock Camp, if you're interested, if you're in Australia or you're in Melbourne, you're thinking about it, I will be there. Come watch me get highlight reeled by the best. When is it? It is on May 3rd, 4th and 5th. I believe it's the first weekend in May. How about that? Yeah, I'm pumped for it Like I haven't done a jiu-jitsu camp or seminar for ages. You know, it seems like a good point for me to mention I'm actually doing a three-day workshop myself next month.
Speaker 1:Ooh, do tell A Japanese joinery. Oh, totally unrelated, I'm going to learn how to make a box. Ooh, with, like handmade dove or you know, people are just like what the fuck? The engagement just drops, you know. So in Japanese joinery they have a type of joint called splicing joints, which I told you about, where they connect shorter lengths of timber to make a longer length. Yeah, which we don't really have a name for that in Western joinery, because we just use a longer piece of timber, right, right, Whereas they would I want to really waste exactly bits, yeah, and so they're. They're the really intricate joints of, because you're trying to connect two beams to make a structure that's still strong. So they've got these really fun joints, right, as you've seen, we share them with each other all the time. Yeah, it's mad. So the box the guy's gonna teach to make a box using those joints, oh, like a bit of a test tester. Well, yeah, and so it's like a lot of high level mark, like marking and measuring and cutting and whatnot Precision, yeah, but you, but it's, you know, still like a nice little fucking box for your pen and pencil or whatever. Nah, it's so cool.
Speaker 1:I'll report back, guys. Yeah, yeah, I'm going to leg lock Joey and he's going to give me a gift of a box. Happy days. But no, I'm keen to report back. We'll do an episode about the joinery. I'll do an episode about the lack of joint integrity that I will now suffer, but no, I'm pumped for it. It's good to be back. I'm so back That'd be sick, fuck yeah, it must be nice for you two to catch up with Lockie. Yeah, I'm going to have a talk to him about the Giles trials oh yeah, which is exciting and more about Team Australia. So we'll get some insight from that. Fuck yeah, fuck yeah. There it is, folks, choo you.
