Erica Phillips

Erica is a business development professional with 20+ years experience helping organizations apply data to solve complex problems. She has a passion for projects that help to make the world a better place.


Erica works with clients in the public/non-profit sector both domestically and internationally. Working closely with clients in US Health & Human Services, she helped them apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to address public health issues like the opioid crisis, health equity and COVID-19 response.


Erica spent 2 years working in Nigeria on global development projects; including helping youth to enter aquaculture farming and assisting Female Sex Workers to start small businesses.


A civic-minded woman, Erica is an activist, a co-founder and Board Member of Northstar of GIS, and she also sits on the Board of Directors of Black Arts Los Angeles (BALA).

Yariwo Kitiyo

Yariwo is a seasoned data analyst with a background in GIS and 7+  years’ experience in tech. She has expertise in data infrastructures and systems; developing data strategies to execution and creating high value, geo-enabled systems that optimize business operations.  


Yariwo founded the Geohabari Podcast, a platform that amplifies African tech stories and elevates technical brilliance. The podcast name is inspired by the Kiswahili word for news "Habari," and  Geography which encapsulates its essence. 


Her contributions have been recognized by the Mawazo Institute Women Breaking Barriers in STEM  and the Geospatial World Rising Stars 2022 Edition. From co-founding Women in  GIS Kenya to The Geohabari Podcast, Yariwo is passionate about building thriving tech communities.

Aisha Jenkins

Aisha Jenkins is a founder and the Vice President of NorthStar with over 20 years of experience in Information Technology, specializing in GIS technology. 

She has spent 15 years as a recognized expert in GIS instruction. A native New Yorker, Aisha's career journey shifted towards GIS when she discovered Esri's products during her MSIS studies. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Penn State University and an M.S. in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Starting as an Account Manager in 2002, she became an Esri certified instructor, Team Lead, and now a Senior Project Manager in Washington, DC, with a deep understanding of Esri's training and course development. 

Her true passion is to empower young people with GIS and other information technologies to shape the future, making her a dedicated professional with a mission to make a lasting impact.
