What is up everyone? It's Coach Oss here with your Nerd Out and Workout.
Speaker 2:Podcast.
Speaker 1:Where we Nerd Out Workout and Podcast. With my co-host, kevin Aurebaugan. What up From Hyperscrate, the Conditioning and Sound of Zay, and today we're going to be talking about can you build muscle during a caloric deficit? Is it possible? Is it we're going to be also talking about, before we even get to the meat of that topic, we're going to be talking about planning bachelor parties. Oh you are yes. What does it look like now versus back in the day?
Speaker 2:Back in the day. How about?
Speaker 1:the 90s, the 80s.
Speaker 2:How would we know?
Speaker 1:Maybe okay, the OOs.
Speaker 2:The OOs, the OO, zero, zeros.
Speaker 1:Talking about, I mean going into division a weekend. I think we should touch that Touch a little bit Still very very small, very small in that.
Speaker 2:Not much to say about that, really Not much to say.
Speaker 1:And then we'll go into our main topic. Kevin, how are you man?
Speaker 2:I'm good man. I'm excited for this weekend. How about you, man?
Speaker 1:I am excited.
Speaker 2:You're working the game.
Speaker 1:I'm working the game.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'm working the game Saturday.
Speaker 1:On this day of recording it is the Wednesday before the divisional game, so if you're listening to it after, the results of the divisional game.
Speaker 2:We don't know we're not time travelers.
Speaker 1:I mean, I wish, I wish, I mean technically, are you Like, if we're traveling forward into time, aren't we traveling in time?
Speaker 2:As we grow. So apparently this is something. I don't know if this is real or not, I just saw it on like reels and stuff. Stephen Hawking actually had a time travelers party.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:And there was nobody there. He didn't invite anybody, so he had food and stuff like that and then, after the party was over I think the day after or a week after he sent out the invitations for the time travelers party.
Speaker 1:Wow.
Speaker 2:So I don't know if that's real, but it sounds like a crazy fucking idea because apparently like if they get it and their actual time travelers they would come to the party.
Speaker 1:But, paradox. But what? What if it was like no incentive? Well, what if in the future, time traveling is so expensive? Why would they waste it on that? I?
Speaker 2:don't know. Well, that's the thing too. It's just kind of like but that's the thing, like he sends it out a week later, it's not like, oh, I'm gonna send it out a hundred years later, it's like literally the week later. You know what I mean. He suspects people of being time travelers. You know what I mean? I should probably look that up again. I probably have the story all wrong.
Speaker 1:No, I've heard of it. You've heard of that right. I've heard of it. Yeah, so it's like no one came to the party so there's no time travelers.
Speaker 2:Ha ha, ha, ha ha ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha, jesus Christ.
Speaker 1:It's okay. There's other news about Steve Hawking. Should we talk about that?
Speaker 2:No, no no, no, no, no, no, no, we're not talking about that.
Speaker 1:Should we talk about that, all right?
Speaker 2:So the vision around, the vision around. I'm excited we got the cheese.
Speaker 1:It's like Taylor's all this time Green Bay versus San Francisco.
Speaker 2:You know I won't lie Like I'm not taking them lightly. You know because you know, because you know, because they they didn't beat up on the cowboy stuff like that. The only thing I'm really nervous about is Jordan Love.
Speaker 1:I'm nervous about Dan Reb. If you guys don't know who Dan Reb is, he's why are you nervous about Dan Reb? Because if Green Bay wins, we will not hear the end of it from him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but he has a we don't know.
Speaker 1:We have a friend, dan Reb. He's a die hard Green Bay cheesehead fan.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but he has a Tesla. So Ha ha, ha, ha, ha You'll. What does that have to do?
Speaker 1:with anything.
Speaker 2:Hey, if it comes out, we'll tell the story of it, if it comes down to it. But I'm just loading my, I have my. I have my shot ready. I have my shot ready as a Tesla. Okay, I have my shot ready, but oh man, the only reason why I'm scared of Jordan Love is because of what Kaepernick did to the Packers when we first had Kaepernick.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he like ran over him, you know.
Speaker 2:I'm scared Jordan Love's going to do that to us.
Speaker 1:Like they, is he a mobile quarterback.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like I'm just stomping out on us, you know, because they found their Kaepernick, you know because they're you know he's a black quarterback. You know what I mean. So I mean I'm just saying Brett Favre, aaron Rodgers, freaking Bart Starr, like how many like? You know what I mean? It's like their first Bart Starr you know, that's like their first, like first, like ethnic, ethnic type minority quarterback. That's like looking really good, you know, and who you know. We had one Kaepernick ran over the Packers. So why, you know?
Speaker 1:so I'm just like uh, he could run too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he could run too.
Speaker 1:I'm just, I'm just low key, like he's mobile he is athletic.
Speaker 2:I'm not going to say he's mobile, he's athletic.
Speaker 1:He'll extend the play. He can extend the play. He's not like a little more Jackson, but he'll. He still has that element where you got to, you got to contain him.
Speaker 2:Well, the reason I bring that up is because normally when I say something like that, it never happens. So Reverse, reverse, jinx on it, you know. Uh, you know what Shout out? Uh, you know we're talking about. I think you know MLK day. Shout out to Mark Luther King, you know on Monday.
Speaker 2:I had to put in a five team parlay for basketball. This is a big thing. I went over five baby. Not a great start to the week. You know what I mean. I was like I felt very confident putting these pigs in. I'm like hell yeah this is looking good.
Speaker 2:At the end of the day, I was like I lost every one. Is it with points? Uh, some of them were probably similar money line stuff Like that. Some were over, had overs and unders, but I was just like. At the end of the day I was just like wow, I really went over five today.
Speaker 1:Why don't you do like? Why don't you select that and then select the exact opposite?
Speaker 2:Well, if I knew I was going, oh, at five, yeah, yeah, I would have gone the other way.
Speaker 1:Just for insurance. I think that's how my dad that's like you know when you do insurance. No, because if you've been 20 here and 20 there, now you want to be hit.
Speaker 2:No, you're what you're. That's not going to work. The only way that is if you're going to hedge your bet like, yeah, let's say you have a crazy 10 team parlay and you're down to the last leg, yeah, and let's say you're going to win like 10K, right, then you put like 2K on the other team the other way, so that either way, you're going to walk away with money. You know what I'm saying, but I do, you don't. You don't completely go, cause if you go, what? If you go 50%, right, then you go 50% of both cards. You know what I mean? Yeah, but if the 25 will be new 500.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, it's a win-win. No, no, no, it's a win-win. But yeah, what do you think about the divisional bro? How are you feeling about it?
Speaker 1:I'm feeling good. It's not playoff football, unless it's like Niners versus Green Bay.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I think the last time pre pandemic we watched the game was the NFC championship.
Speaker 2:It was you and I watched it In this. We were there, we were there, we were there. You know, that was electric man, that was really.
Speaker 1:Did we watch the ceremony? Did they have like a ceremony? Did we watch it?
Speaker 2:We, yeah, we, we were there. We chilled like for a long time. We were there chilling for a while because we were just like we're in, like enjoy this moment, like 100%. So I'm excited, I'm excited for the playoffs. I'm excited to, I'm excited to see the end zones, because the end zones, the old red all red. It's the only time we paid them. Red is for the playoffs, baby and I might go there early.
Speaker 1:Early because our call times at 145.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah. Okay, but I might go there early, you're gonna do like the JJ McCarthy thing, the quarterback from Michigan, before the games he gets there early and he like takes his shoes off and he'd like walks the field barefoot a little bit and meditates at the goal post Cheese. But but yeah, dude, I'm excited for this weekend Should be some great football too.
Speaker 1:I'm excited, so you're going. Are you going?
Speaker 2:No, I'm not going.
Speaker 1:So you sold your tickets.
Speaker 2:They're still for sale. You know, here, I think the biggest reason why they're not sold right now is because my dad's selling him as a pair of four. He didn't break them into two, two. I'm waiting to tell him that he should break into two so that people will buy it, because I how many people out there are going to buy four? You know what I mean? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And even if you buy one pair, I think if we buy one pair, it almost covers to sit, like for both.
Speaker 1:How much is it for?
Speaker 2:four. Oh, I mean, I can't say that's classified.
Speaker 1:That's classified information. Well, we'll talk offline, offline. We'll talk about it offline.
Speaker 2:But I'm excited, can't wait. And you see the Steve Young hype video.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:Nives Lees. It's good, it's good Really. It's like.
Speaker 1:I just saw it says do for the bay and I saw Steve Young Dude.
Speaker 2:I was rock hard. When that video was done I was like, yeah, I'm ready, Do it for the bay. Yeah, I think it was kind of a. It's kind of fucked up to say do it for the bay.
Speaker 1:Why.
Speaker 2:It's kind of like a slight at like the Raiders.
Speaker 1:Why? Because they left.
Speaker 2:I mean, I mean they make the money.
Speaker 1:They're good. I don't understand. They take the money. Um no, I I'm excited, I didn't know. Yet you could have an actual ticket when you guys went last time to the United Club or the Levi's Club, or oh, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2:Uh, JP's boy hooked us up with those. Oh yeah, so could you buy that separately or no, I don't think so, because it's like I think it's just something that, uh, because JP's boy works for the 49ers, he works with season ticket holders.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:And I guess it's just like a pass that he gave. He gave the JP with it actually had each of our names on them, so it was like specific. I guess you know I'll just say the United is like is amazing. No, it's fucking great. Great, that's where I get my coffee break. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Like, yeah, we have this like hour in between our our debrief morning and our first task, and really nice.
Speaker 2:I just disappear. That's where you been, and. I'm like United Club Drink my coffee girl, you're not there too.
Speaker 1:You're not there. You're not there Like we can go there. We can go to the club like the bottom club. What's?
Speaker 2:the bottom club.
Speaker 1:Uh, we, the players, walk out.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, oh, is that where like? Where like people, like like oh yeah as they're coming out. Oh, that's.
Speaker 1:So I'm trying to, I'm trying to get tickets to to there when junior, when the junior's first game.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:I want them to see the players come out.
Speaker 2:That'd be cool.
Speaker 1:I'm going to let them notify them as a nine year fan.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Forever. I want them to have that experience Forever.
Speaker 2:Forever. You're not. Yeah, you're not going to choose any other.
Speaker 1:I don't get that Like. I mean I get it Like you're trying to have your kids like pick their own team, but it's like it just creates division in the household.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Like I see like there's, it's a niner household, but my, oh my son.
Speaker 2:Oh, my son loves Dallas. Dude, I'd be like you're not watching the Dallas Sunday. You go watch your friend's house because you're not watching any Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1:Talking about yeah, I just it's like oh, we're just, we want to give them some independence.
Speaker 2:I just think it's like it's the sins of the father. The father instills the love for the team at a young age, like what you're gonna do for junior. You know, I just I just think people who, you know, think like, don't have, are like split households. I just think the, the, the bond of the team is not strong with like the father or like the mother, whoever, whoever's the head of the household. You know, I'm saying like doing a lot of the, the raising, you know. That's why, yeah, take control, you can't let junior become a bangles fan.
Speaker 1:I was like, why are you a bangles fan, love like white. I just, I just pick a team every year orange orange. It's a bangle fucking.
Speaker 2:Love so crazy dude.
Speaker 1:Oh, anyways, you know, here's a fun thing.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh.
Speaker 1:There was actually a debate. I saw there's another podcast, I totally forgot, but they were debating about about there's two X men. Did you see this clip? There's two X men who could take out the whole Justice League.
Speaker 2:Who that be. Am I supposed to guess? No, okay, go for it. So it would be Professor Xavier okay, I was that's I was thinking, and Wolverine, okay.
Speaker 1:The argument was professor Xavier would just freeze everyone and Wolverine would just.
Speaker 2:Chop off just like oh, they're not moving, kill them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, I see that but I counterpoint Because Batman would see that come in he wouldn't what do you mean?
Speaker 2:I mean okay, yeah, for sake of argument. Yes, batman would probably be ready for it if he had time to assess them. Yeah, but if, like, imagine them meeting for the first time and then professor X just froze him and then like, yeah, no, there's no way Batman would have known about him a long time ago. How just, dude, he's prepared, he's a detective, yeah, but I mean, that's what I'm saying, like he's a detective, right. He's a world's great. He's a world's great detective and the best strategist in the in of all time.
Speaker 1:So it's like how would he? I don't know. But there people I well, I would argue and the people who are saying the same thing is that Batman would have a helmet that would block out. Well, yeah, okay.
Speaker 2:Here's the thing. Yeah, so I would think it would happen. The first battle they would do it. But then I would. I would think that his suit would have some sort of failsafe During that first fight that lets him get away, sneak away, and then he'll have to like regroup and recruit who he can that's left in the DC, right in the Justice League, and then he his next suit, his helmet, would be made out of magneto shit.
Speaker 2:Yeah because I learned from magneto yeah, through research, that the helmet, and yeah, then he would, then they would win.
Speaker 1:But you're saying that if, if professor Xavier and Wolverine are in the universe, that means all the other characters are available for him to use basically has to.
Speaker 2:There has to be research done. You know what I mean. So basically, first fight Aquaman, dead Superman I don't know if he's dead, but maybe, like I don't- know man, because that guy could move planets. Yeah, but even if professors gave you tried to like, immobilize them but I mean Superman's dumb, like he's literally just all muscle, you know, I mean, and he's not that smart, you know I mean, so he's weak-minded, so Wolverine could chop him up, stuff like that, and I think so man is steel. And to manium.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but he's a man. He's like he's not made of kryptonite.
Speaker 2:Yeah but he's not made him. He's not made of steel either. I'll send. He's just a freaking alien.
Speaker 1:But Superman, Superman. I don't think Wolverine could cut through Superman.
Speaker 2:We'll see. I don't think he can, but I'm just saying, okay, let's just say he survives, okay, he's one of the survivors. But like he has brain damage because he's a Maybe, okay, wolverine couldn't cut through him. So like professor X had it like, turn him his brain's like a toddler.
Speaker 1:Oh, he's like a two-year-old.
Speaker 2:that's dangerous, I'm just maybe he's just rampaging over everyone who's left, you know. So, yeah, okay, I see your point there. But you know, like let's just say that and then let's say Green Lantern's probably dead, is he probably?
Speaker 1:can he shield himself with his green? Yeah, but he's not strong enough.
Speaker 2:They'll probably not fast enough to think of it, because you know he gets frozen by Professor X.
Speaker 1:You know but it's willpower.
Speaker 2:Maybe, possibly. I can't. I can't say for sure, but damn can you imagine.
Speaker 1:Marsha man hunter.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean he could just phase. Right, you could phase. Maybe that's his like default or something like. That's interesting, dude. Now I'm gonna look that up now. I want to see what the points were made for each side, you know.
Speaker 1:But while they're the points are say that Professor X could basically control, especially when you have cerebral. Because then?
Speaker 2:but if you start talking about cerebral and you're involving a few other X men, yeah, but he's like for the whole world, you know, I mean, but in this, if they're within, like the battlefield, yeah, he'd be able to hold everybody, I think so but then if you, then if you go back into, like Professor X and you referred to, that Scarlet Witch movie or the the man, yeah, multi-verse the madness, multi-verse the madness.
Speaker 1:And he got fucking pulled by Scarlet Witch and it's in her head.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean. I mean like it's just MCU, like this chapter where they in right now they're just kind of like Deep power, like they're nerfing a lot of characters. You know what I mean. So it's like it's not comic book string. It's not comic book string for sure, cuz people like ultra is so strong. No, it's not even here. He'd like dude, like there's no way he's dead man like oh, kevin Feige just nerfing all these like characters. Oh, it's so terrible. Everyone's nerfed, loki's nerfed, thanos nerfed. You know what I mean. Like it's not fun.
Speaker 1:I don't know. I think Batman would have a solution.
Speaker 2:Okay, you're right, I feel like Batman he would survive and then he get away and he Do research somehow, and then he'd find out about Magnus helmet his next suit, his helmet would be made out of it. Then they I don't think they even win, I think it just becomes a draw Really. I think they'll lose some, they'll lose some and then they'll realize that, I don't know, maybe dr Doom and Lex Luthor working together and some bullshit buddies. But please, yeah, you know, for you know what, for the record, this was not in our pre-show it was it.
Speaker 2:Like thrown off. I'm excited, but I was mainly thrown off.
Speaker 1:Well, what are pre-show meeting points? Oh so, right now I'm planning, I'm planning a really really good friend of mine's. He's a, he's a. Basically he's almost my brother-in-law. Yep, yep, yep, through my he's getting married to my sister-in-law and so that default brother-in-law. But um, you know, I'm planning his bachelor party.
Speaker 2:Yes, sir, you know, we're going, we're going we're going.
Speaker 1:It's gonna be a nice, nice little golf trip to Vegas hey dude, it's I'm.
Speaker 2:I'm excited to play golf in Vegas. That sounds so fun Golf, I'm excited to.
Speaker 1:Vegas with some fast cars at the end fast car.
Speaker 2:Lots of food, a lot of food decent amount of gambling. I'm saying right now Market. Now, this is Wednesday.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:January 17th.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:I am hitting some sort of jackpot in Vegas.
Speaker 1:Some sort of hand pay or at least okay so it's a hand pay.
Speaker 2:I think minimum hand pays like 1500 out of off a machine, uh-huh. So I'm gonna say a minute a minimum hand pay, or we're winning 2k at the craps table.
Speaker 1:So I think you have a better chance hitting 2k in the craps table.
Speaker 2:So I'm just saying we're hitting something. Okay if it's on the craps table.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah how are we hitting 2k in the craps table?
Speaker 2:Okay, easy we're, we're the shooter, okay, we're gonna, we're gonna hit. What's the minimum let's say, just because it's Vegas and I don't know where we're gonna gamble, it's anywhere between 15 to 25 minimum, minimum, okay sure. So let's just say 25 on the pass line. Right, I'm shooting the point. Six, I'm putting $10 on heart eight.
Speaker 1:I'm putting 25 on true odds.
Speaker 2:Yes, you take true odds on Heart eight. I'm rolling Right, I'm gonna hit a heart eight and then it's gonna be a hundred bucks and I'm gonna say parley.
Speaker 1:It doesn't hit heart eight.
Speaker 2:No, I'm gonna hit heart eight. It doesn't, I'm going to are you sure?
Speaker 1:Yes, it's a six and two.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, we're going four and four.
Speaker 1:I know, but it's a six and two. No, it's not hit box, sorry.
Speaker 2:Just this is my plan. I'm gonna hit box cars. Okay, not box, I'm sorry. Oh plan relies a lot. Hey, I, no, no, dude. I watched a lot of videos on dominator. You know the dominator is no, it's called control, dice control the way you hold the dice and the way you throw the dice towards the back wall.
Speaker 2:There's no fucking way, there is trust me, dude, trust me, all right. So this is what we're doing we're putting 10 bucks on heart eight. When the heart eight hits, it's gonna be a hundred bucks. We're gonna parlay it and then we're gonna hit it again. Not right after, maybe we're gonna let it ride. We're gonna let it ride, because when we hit it that's a thousand, and then we're gonna hit it again. We're gonna take the thousand, we leave the hundred and then we're gonna hit it again. 2k Money.
Speaker 1:I'm putting a thousand, I'm telling you I'm putting.
Speaker 2:I my spot my spot in the craft table is the first spot next to the stick man on the on his right side, and then I throw it to the left. This is shortest distance, so you don't have to throw it as hard. I lob it and then it hits back. Bam.
Speaker 1:I'm saying don't you have to, don't you have to Throw it across the table?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm am throwing across table, but I'm at the fur that I'm at the like, the Fur like the closest I can be without you know what I mean, Because I wouldn't throw it this way. I'm throwing it this way, so Ah I'm closer, I don't have to like. You know the guys that are like yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the fucking dice goes off the damn table.
Speaker 2:Chill, chill, chill. And then like okay, dude, like this guy obviously ate his fucking weedies this morning. Yeah, like it's sort of the drunk guys you know they're like oh, I hate that dude, you're like you're like chill.
Speaker 1:You know, my pet peeve on the craft table is like when they said the dice down and they start like placing it.
Speaker 2:Oh see, yeah, I'm the same way oh my god so. I'm like two weeks before we go to Vegas. I'm just holding dice, so I like, but you're really training for this. No, like I look at, I just drop them and I look at them and I so I could set them up as quickly as possible. So I'm not like holding up the game.
Speaker 1:You know, I mean bro, they don't, they go like this.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I know, or they're like my favorite things. When they do like fuck, they'll tap, tap and like the circle around, tap, tap.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's like crazy routine.
Speaker 2:Nah, fuck the routine, just fucking dice, they do all this shit like and then they throw seven. Yeah, I guess so irritating nice like it's not.
Speaker 1:It's based on odds, like throw the damn dice.
Speaker 2:But a fun story, by the way. The one time I played crafts in Vegas read the MGM this dude Tall guy, 610 probably, or 6, 9 some night. We're like dude. This guy looks so familiar Like this guy's gotta be an athlete. I looked, I had an idea who it was. It was Rashad Lewis. He was played for Orlando magic.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, dude Was he like playing, yeah, we're, he was just playing and he was like he was telling the, the dealer like, uh, he was like um, what's it called? He was like markers. He was asking for markers because you know he has money, they know it. So he's like 15k and this guy's putting like 5k, 10k and shit, losing you got money got money right, so we'd be like playing and we're.
Speaker 2:I was hitting some points. I caught fire a little bit and he was making money. It's all nice. It's not like I was like tight. I didn't ask him to take a picture either, cuz you know that's not cool, you know.
Speaker 1:Hey cool, be cool Me, I'll be cool.
Speaker 2:So it's something hella dumb though. So whatever done that night, I went on Instagram and I DM'd him. I was like Amen, fun play craft. Oh yeah, I was like a man. Fun time play crafty. You dog play soon. Oh Well, I mean those are last night though. Yeah, hey, I made him some money, I made him, so I made him back couple of those markers he asked for, you know so you made probably a couple racks, bro. He made a lot and you look at it's putting like five, ten K up.
Speaker 2:I'll roll like, like on his odds on his pass line than his odds and he's playing the field too, stuff like that. So like bringing grand out there.
Speaker 1:Jesus Christ, yeah, no, all I do for craps is is a pass line and the true odds. That's it. Yeah, it's like the longest, like that's the best way. You can kind of just stay if you hit a person who's hot. Then you start playing the field. Six, eight, let it ride boxcars, box cards, dude.
Speaker 2:Okay, the one thing I love about MGM is they have the, the bonus. They have all the talls and all the smalls. So basically, the the roller, the dice roller, needs to hit all the numbers before he hits a seven and you win it. So you put like so the ends are like, I think, 32 to one. So you put like five bucks, five bucks, and then the middle is 120 to one. So you put either five or ten right, and then it's just like yeah, snake eyes. And I was like oh, but I'm like tight, we got the. That's hard. You're like fuck, and I'm just like okay.
Speaker 2:We're good, and when you hit all the, all the talls and all the small dude, it's fucking ill. Because when you start, when I get close, I'll, sometimes I'll start hoppin like the four and eight, you know, or you know order four and three or not for three. Start like the six right, oh, he's a six. I'm like four to. I'm like throwing, like you know you make more. You know I'm. I can't wait. I haven't been to Vegas in a while, so I'm excited to hit like the the floor dude, like I'm gonna sell my car cuz we're gonna, we're gonna win it back, baby Calm down.
Speaker 2:It's impossible. There's no way. I'm just kidding.
Speaker 1:I mean but, five hundred dollars can only go so far.
Speaker 2:I'm more excited about our first, when we all hit the floor together and we're gonna go hit the roulette table bro we're all gonna put 50 bucks on maybe one number bro and I, it's gonna be electric oh it's gonna be electric or it's gonna be sad we're gonna be like oh, so this is how we're starting it off. I'm sorry, but if it hits dude, oh my gosh.
Speaker 1:You should, you should, you should get like a hundred dollars chip and put it on the line between red and black. Which one is it? You know they do it between numbers.
Speaker 2:They're like, sir, you can't do that.
Speaker 1:So we talk about Vegas.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I can't wait for that. It's gonna. I think it's be a very fun trip. You got some really nice stuff Planned ahead for us we got some.
Speaker 1:We got some good things. I'm pretty excited. I know that. You know Bachelors parties always get like people get a little, guys get too wild. I'm not gonna get into that.
Speaker 1:Where it's like you know, so I'm like oh my god, and you know what happens to women too. But long story short, it's a golf trip. Michael wanted a golf trip. Yep, he wanted, he wanted, you know, he wanted it at Vegas. Yeah, it was really funny, though, is that when he, when I got tasked with this job, hmm, I was like okay, where do you want to go? Where do you want?
Speaker 2:to go, you want to just have low key hangout.
Speaker 1:Just you know, we can go Hawaii.
Speaker 2:We can just go to V Tampa, hawaii. Yeah, I mean like or SoCal, we can just all get to chill.
Speaker 1:You want to chill vibe or what Like. What did you want he goes? I don't want anywhere where we spend a lot of money. You know like maybe Vegas and I was like, well, that took a turn. Like that's you. You know what Las Vegas is, this guy, Not too expensive, that's not too expensive. Let's go Vegas. Let's go Vegas, maybe Macau.
Speaker 2:Just go to the most expensive place. What the fuck? Just say you wanted Vegas, just say you wanted Vegas. Just say you wanted Vegas. Vegas is expensive. I haven't been there. It's been a while.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I haven't been there as like a trip trip in a long while, and I think the last time I went there was for like a weightlifting competition and we stayed at like the oh really yeah, oh nice. Yeah, so it wasn't really like gambling or wild announcements.
Speaker 2:Was that like? Is that like some like like nationals or something like that? Yeah.
Speaker 1:It was like a national competition.
Speaker 2:Oh wow Were you in or you were in the competition.
Speaker 1:No. One of our one of our coaches were supporting us.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's cool. Just on that, I did that. I did that. So cool, cool, cool.
Speaker 1:Um shout out to Tim.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so he was lifting there and I took him out to like he was Don't fly spirit guys, like that was, that was bad. Like he. He had a delayed flight several times. He had to sleep. He had to sleep somewhere, in a car or something because he couldn't make us check him. It's a crazy story.
Speaker 2:Wow.
Speaker 1:So when, when, when Giselle and I got there, I said we got you. We're going to take you out to. We took him to Bacchanal. We took him, I think, the Gordon Ramsay food or something like that, oh nice. You know to care of them. But long story short, that was the last time I've been there, so you know. Planning this trip, you know, like you know, michael wants the typical bachelor party where he's like oh, I want strippers, I want this, I want that. But he also wanted golf and he also wanted.
Speaker 2:Golf baby.
Speaker 1:He wanted um, he wanted a. I said what about speed Vegas? You know, you want something exciting. So, that's what I kind of wanted to plan out. It was like a nice weekend with the boys, experience, and he wanted, he wanted experience.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:Because I knew he said I don't want to spend much money, but also Vegas.
Speaker 2:I don't want to spend a lot, but let's go Vegas, let's go.
Speaker 1:Vegas. So I was like damn. So you know, we got, we're going to go golf at Bali, hi.
Speaker 2:Bali. Hi Book that up. It's looking good baby.
Speaker 1:We did originally booked when God told him.
Speaker 2:Don't tell him.
Speaker 1:Okay, but we deviated from the plan.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:We, we went to Bali hi Cause it's a. It's a party vibe. We wanted a party vibe when we golf. That's what we got, especially when I talked to them.
Speaker 2:So it's going to be fun, it's going to be great.
Speaker 1:There's a guy who actually like takes your clubs but we're not bringing our own clubs, but they got Calloway's for rent.
Speaker 2:Let's go Calloway, I'm pretty excited about that.
Speaker 1:They have, um, I don't know if I told you this, but they have a bet on a hole. You put like a hundred bucks and then, like everyone, all the dudes put a hundred bucks and then we give out the front desk. Okay, and it's like whoever wins that hole gets the pot oh.
Speaker 2:Yeah, dang, or is it?
Speaker 1:like I think it's another hole where, like, if you make it on the green on your first drive, uh, you get like a hundred bucks or something like that.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, okay.
Speaker 1:And the thing is, if we don't win it like, don't get our money back, oh.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, I thought you meant like okay, all right, I thought you meant like the, if you get on the green, it's like a, it's like some sort of like, uh, like course thing where if you make it on they pay you a hundred bucks.
Speaker 1:No, you have, we have to bet.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, that's lame. I thought it's like it's a. It's a 600 yard par five and if you can get on the green from here, we'll give you a hundred dollars.
Speaker 1:I think, I think there is a hole like that. I don't know. We got to talk to them.
Speaker 2:We'll figure it out, but there's, there's, there's bars. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun, dude.
Speaker 1:Um, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm excited, dude.
Speaker 1:I haven't been to Vegas in a while and uh, it's going to be wild. Yeah, no, I mean, we got a yeah.
Speaker 2:If you guys want to buy Pokemon cards, let me know.
Speaker 1:Wait what.
Speaker 2:Check out my eBay store. I'm just kidding. Wow, wow.
Speaker 1:Um, another thing that we're I mean we're doing that, we're gambling we're definitely going to have a gentleman's night.
Speaker 2:A nice little dinner.
Speaker 1:Um, nice little dinner. Uh, what was it we're going to? We're going to go to speed Vegas Speed. That's something that we're pretty excited about.
Speaker 2:That's pretty cool. I haven't been there.
Speaker 1:I heard it was really. I heard great things about it. Um, so, like we're actually, they give us a when you, when you book at speed Vegas, you actually have to like they give you a spreadsheet to fill out so you can send it to their events guide and they'll send it back to you like with the itemized invoice. From what they told me, it's like it's a whole two and a half hour experience. Okay, cause we got to get debrief, we got to learn we put on fire retardant suits and we go, we, we drive, we drive, we drive, we. Uh, I think they said the average is like five, five to seven laps. It takes about three to four laps to get used to the track. Oh, they, actually, before we even drive, they take us on a Porsche SUV to drive the track so we can get used to it.
Speaker 2:Oh, so they're going to drive us on the track.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so to like, have us like. Oh, this is where you're going to break, this is where you're going to accelerate, oh, okay, and then? We have a person next to us telling us what to do when we drive in our respective cars.
Speaker 2:Damn. You know what I kind of. I wish they had a Toyota Prius so we could have done like the scene and like the other guys. Yeah, or it was like America, or it was just like fucking lay down on the fucking page. Wait, did you just say America? I blacked out. I'm blacked out. I don't know what I did. That would be you know what that would be a sick, like experience like cars, like cars from the movies, like oh, we got doms Fucking charger, or was it a charger? Sorry, I'm not a car guy, okay, or whatever. Or like a Brian Skyline or some shit.
Speaker 1:No, no, that would be, that would be sick.
Speaker 2:You could drive like cars that look like from movies or something like. We have the fucking Adam West Batmobile that you could drive here.
Speaker 1:That would be cool. You know they're at Disney World right now.
Speaker 2:What's it is.
Speaker 1:I think the Fast and Furious cars are universal.
Speaker 2:You could drive them.
Speaker 1:No, they're just sitting there.
Speaker 2:Oh, I mean, come on, speed, Dude. We're giving you guys ideas here, buddy. I mean it's great, Great information, but I mean ideas here.
Speaker 1:We're ability. I mean right now. They have selections Porsche, gtr, nsx, ferrari.
Speaker 2:Ferrari.
Speaker 1:The F430F1. Funny story.
Speaker 2:So I was trying to get. I was like I don't know what car, like I really didn't know what car I want to drive because I'm just like dude. I asked Austin like am I going to fit in these fucking cars? They're all fucking sports cars Like no, go, go, go, muscle car for sure.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I was like oh okay, they have a Ford, they have a GT500. Like GT500. So I was like okay.
Speaker 2:I guess that'll work for me, because I'm a big dude, you know, I'm just like I don't want to be like oh yes, speed baby, you know. So he told me, he told me that they, you know, they got a muscle car. So I'm like okay, cool, now I can be like family, family, now I'm fucking Vin Diesel baby. No, no, no, no. So that's good, I'm excited, it's going to be, it's going to be an interesting experience.
Speaker 1:It's going to be fun, yeah, yeah. And then there's go car racing at the end.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm not doing the go car Dude. If I was worried about fitting in a fucking Porsche, I'm not going to fit on a go car bro. He was like, oh yeah, we're doing the race. I'm like, oh, six over racing the cars. You're like no, dude, go car, the go car Like dude. Why can't we just race the car? We're in cars already?
Speaker 1:Well, it's because we can die, it's fine, it's experience.
Speaker 2:It's experience. Just walk it off. Just walk it off. At the end that's going to be sick.
Speaker 1:So it's going to be fine, we're going to have a oh, what was it? We're planning what Dinner? I mean, he wanted, he wanted a face. Or we're going to Buckingham Buckingham man. But I hear, I hear well, a lot of Vegas locals are like no, I don't go to Buckingham, why, where do you, where do you, where do you tell us they? Have a local one. It's like South Point, it's like hella cheap, bye, I don't know that's fine.
Speaker 2:I'm not from.
Speaker 1:Vegas South Point.
Speaker 2:I from my regulation is where you go at 1 am For like $10 stake that.
Speaker 1:I think that's what they're.
Speaker 2:I'm just. I'm not saying that's any correlation to their buffet or anything, but I'm just saying but it's like we're Tourists.
Speaker 1:We don't know we just want to have fun.
Speaker 2:It's a tourist trap. What do you think we are? They're here. We're here to give them our money anyway. At least. At least we're not gambling it. We're gonna. What the Balkans was? What like 80 bucks or something like that, something like that, and you're just like would you rather pay 80 bucks to eat unlimited food or 80 bucks just to feel sad for 10 minutes?
Speaker 1:Give me a time limit. I think they give us two hours. Yeah, it's two hours.
Speaker 2:There's so much fucking food. Man, you're two hours is plenty of time, is it? It's a number one you got to do first, see food. Really, you gotta get that. Get the fucking oysters, get the fucking crab legs. Really, yeah, you got to get the like bang for buck, dude. Like, I'm not going for rice, I'm not, don't be Filipino and fucking go for the Rice. Or who do you have mac and cheese? No, fucking mac and cheese, okay. We're like oh, we're getting sushi? No, no sushi, okay. Or chow mein? No, chow mein. We're gonna go for fucking oysters, going for shrimp, we're going for fucking crab legs.
Speaker 1:That's a strategy.
Speaker 2:That's my strategy. And then I'm going for, right after my seafood plate, I'm going for fucking like the prime rib or carving station, I should say ribs. Fucking steak. You know stuff like that. And if they got dim sum, I'm going for dim sum. I know that's maybe like filling, but if it's good dim sum, like it's a fucking what he calls like shrimp balls or fucking Hargows, fucking let's go. You know I mean.
Speaker 1:I'm pretty excited.
Speaker 2:I Love bucking, all buckin. I was really good too. They got really night. Yeah, they're really good food there.
Speaker 1:Okay, well then, I'm excited if you it's gonna be fire. Uh yeah, so definitely excited. We're gonna be gonna be a weekend it's gonna be great. It's gonna be a fun weekend in and out, memories will be made.
Speaker 2:Jackpots will be hit. I'm just saying right now see.
Speaker 1:Amen, just like that what you're strategy for the slot.
Speaker 2:Fucking okay.
Speaker 1:So from what I've seen, from all these oceans 11 shit.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, from what I've seen from all the these slot people who play, you know it's just, you know it's all bullshit anyway, right, you got put the volume all the way up, right, and then max bet. You got play max bet like you playing. Even if you're playing the penny slots, you're paying max bet the whole time. Because I Mean, if you're there to get drunk, yeah, okay, play Minimum on the pennies, but max bet and just fucking let it rock. Let's fucking tap it, dude, tap it, bro. If it's gotten five seconds, it's gotten five seconds. But I I'm just looking forward to playing some like slots that I've seen, like on Instagram and stuff like Like that the cool, but like pinball, oh yeah, like that one's cool and like Was that what top dollar? That's a fun one.
Speaker 1:There's like Um. There's the one where you guess the number I.
Speaker 2:Don't know what's on there's the one.
Speaker 1:There's that one where the dealer like you've got the dealer and then you have to guess the number. They're thinking between one and seven.
Speaker 2:What is a Vegas vacation? He has his cousin for money, Right they dug it up and they went to like they're not your classic game and like they're playing war Seven. No. Yeah dude, I'm excited to gamble.
Speaker 1:Very good, I'm excited.
Speaker 2:Well, I mean it's gonna be fun regardless. It's gonna be fun.
Speaker 1:It's gonna be right, it's gonna be great. So, going into our main topic, we're going, we're going into the science that this is pulled from an article that we'll be posting on our many website.
Speaker 1:I'll put the link in our article with sources yes, yes, yes, in the show notes, but I'm reading a portion of it and we're talking more about the science behind building muscle in a caloric deficit. So, as I talk about, this is gonna be refer referencing Some parts in these article. If you want to read the full article, go ahead and go into that link in the show notes and I'll take you right to that blog. Yes, all right. So with that, the science behind building muscle in a caloric deficit. As mentioned above, we talk about caloric deficit. It's not an ideal for muscle gain. However, just because it isn't ideal doesn't mean it can't happen. Muscle growth Largely depends on two things creating an adequate training stimulus. Forcing the body to build muscle. Right said principle. If you guys don't know what that is, said, look it up. Said principle specific adaptation to impose demand and then be eating enough protein to promote recovery and maintain protein.
Speaker 1:Rates it mean. This means it's possible to build muscle in a deficit. For instance, in one popular study, researchers put 14 overweight police officers in a Chloric restrict or calorie restricted high protein diet, while also having them lift weights. I will link this study in the show notes. The experiment lasted 12 weeks and all the subjects lost an average of 2.5 kilograms, while gaining an average of 2 kilograms of lean mass.
Speaker 1:Okay now you might be thinking but this is a study on overweight beginners. What about experienced trainees? Fortunately, we have one such study to. In it, researchers took eight elite gymnast people who could do 17 pull-ups With their chest touching the bar and put them on a 2000 calorie diet For a month. The subjects did approximately 30 hours of training per week. Following the experiment, the subject had lost Approximately two kilograms and had gained, close to point five kilograms of lean tissue. Their body fat percentage dropped from 8% to 5%. That said, it's worth noting, while possible body body Recomposition also occur Incredibly slowly and are more difficult to track, given the stimulants simultaneous increase of in muscle and drops in body fat.
Speaker 1:Plus, they work best for overweight People sensitive to training stressors. Example beginners. So, and then it goes on and on talking about real-world strategies, of what to do overall. Is it possible to build muscle in a caloric deficit? It is possible, but is it in a way where people think like, oh, I'm gonna gain so much muscle while I'm losing fat? Very hard to do in that way of thinking of like I'm gonna gain five to ten pounds of muscle, well, also losing 30 pounds of fat, that's very hard to do. But to to. What would these studies have shown and I will talk to. I will speak to the small sample size they're talking about, but just talking More of.
Speaker 1:You know, introducing strain training while still being in a caloric deficit. You're the body recomposition part of it is like you're, basically, if you're especially if you're overweight and you're wanting to lose fat and Build muscle, and you're wondering if you could do it at the same time. If you, if you do strain training Well, being in a caloric deficit, it helps you retain most of your lean body mass while your body is going through this change of Reducing adipose tissue, and what that leads you to becoming is looking more muscular than you actually. It'll look like you put on five to ten pounds of mass. When you maybe put on one or two pounds by, you reduce your fat mass a lot more, because that's what your body can really focus on.
Speaker 1:So Does it? Can't, can you? Yes, in a way, but should it be like the end all be all of what to do in a caloric deficit? No, it's actually. It's actually should be. It should be the mixture of both, of continuing your strength training, keeping your lean body mass, because it's a metabolic, the active tissue. You'll burn more calories when you have more lean body mass, but focusing on that while still consistently being in a caloric deficit. And if you're if you're a beginner, fat law beginner person who is really trying to lose weight, which is in this time, in a year a lot of people this is a great, it's a great strategy to do right. Training and being in a caloric deficit consistently will help you a ton.
Speaker 2:And that's what's actually I'm on with ant. That's what we're doing. So we calculated my macros, okay, and I, daily have to get at least 286 grams of protein, 246 grams of carbohydrates, and our fat is 73. So so, with that, as long as I'm staying under the fat, I'm going to be losing weight, okay. And then I, um, I'm uh, when, when it comes to my muscle, as long as I'm hitting my protein goals, I'm not going to lose my strength. That's what aunt was telling me. So, you know, right now we're squatting.
Speaker 2:I don't know the numbers, but I could feel that I'm not losing any power, while I'm like starting to slowly lose a little bit. So I mean, I guess that's a concern for everybody, right Cause there's an easy way to do it right. You could probably literally just don't worry about the proteins, just watch your fat and keep the calories down. You'll probably lose a ton of weight, but you're probably going to lose a ton of muscle too, because you're not properly feeding the proteins to your muscles, you know. So, um, I could attain that. It's a. It works. It works for me. For me it does, you know cause it's I'm getting, I'm starting to get more results. So it's, it's a interesting feeling.
Speaker 1:Good and so, yeah, to add onto that, we got some real world strategies that to build muscle in a deficit, to help to help maintain your lean tissue or possibly build a little bit more muscle mass, while also seeing some results. Keep the deficit small. A small caloric deficit allows you to shed body fat gradually without hindering your muscle abilities as much. It's best to keep your deficit to approximately 200 to 250 calories, which is half the deficit that's typically recommended for fat loss. For instance, if your maintenance level is at 2,750 calories, aim for 25 to 2550 caloric intake a day. Lifting weights three or four times weekly. Number two providing an adequate, adequate stimulus for your muscles is crucial for growth, even more so while in a calorie surplus. However, training as hard as possible is not ideal because the caloric surplus will impair your recovery to a degree. So the best option here is to lift weights three to four times weekly, focusing on the following Doing at least one compound to isolation movement for each muscle group.
Speaker 1:Training close to failure, leaving one or two reps in the tank. Focusing on progressive overload. Doing slightly more over time extra weight, more reps, similar training each muscle group twice per week, with at least 48 hours of recovery in between. Number three is limiting your cardio. Cardio offers some unique benefits and is good enough to include. However, it is also general. It can also generate fatigue, impair recovery and limit your performance in the weight room. So it's best to limit to a couple of low intensity sessions 20 to 30 minutes each maximum, or avoid altogether.
Speaker 2:So no cardio.
Speaker 1:You can do some cardio. That's interesting, just don't go, don't be running a marathon every day.
Speaker 2:Well, I'm just saying if I'm lifting more than six reps, that's cardio.
Speaker 1:Oh my God, stop. Like going for a walk is nice, oh, no, okay.
Speaker 2:Okay, gotcha, I thought you were talking about like you can't be on like the stepper for a walk. It's nice.
Speaker 1:And then eating enough protein.
Speaker 2:Protein baby General recommendation.
Speaker 1:I always talk about this general recommendation. The general recommendation to for protein is to have 0.8 to one gram per pound of body weight. It might be better to aim for the upper limit of the range simply to ensure optimal protein turnover. I'm also lean to probably 0.8 to one gram per pound of lean body mass that you have. If you have the luxury of weighing, getting your body fat percentage and calculating how many pounds of lean body mass you have and going, starting from there and going, oh, because it is hard to intake a lot of fucking protein, right, it's very hard.
Speaker 2:That's a lot. That's why like it's hard, because, like some, you think it's easy because you got all these things that'll give you protein. But protein bar gives you what? 20 grams at the most and you're like, oh God, I got to suck down 10 of these. That's why I know the cheat code, for me at least, is like shrimp, really Dude. Costco shrimp right Is like insane macro for protein, especially because the protein to like fat ratio is like insane.
Speaker 1:They always talk about how shrimp and cholesterol are tied. Is it the same way with eggs too, because I love eggs.
Speaker 2:I mean the only thing, my only thing about eggs, that there's a lot of fat in eggs. It's great Because I love it, it's good fat, but at the same time it doesn't help my thing. But I have to have two eggs in the morning. It's just, it's just my type of you know breakfast, you know.
Speaker 1:I have four eggs.
Speaker 2:Yeah, four eggs. You know what. You know what? All right, hashtag, bring this back. We need to bring back Austin's videos of him flipping eggs what you know what? Okay, you got to flip one egg for every 10,000 followers you gain. Starting now.
Speaker 1:Okay, that's negative five eggs. I lost five followers.
Speaker 2:We just lost, we're done. Yeah, so one serving of shrimp the one like I'm doing is 22 grams of that's eight shrimps, okay For 0.5 grams of fat. So it's just like you have like two, three servings for like lunch and stuff. You're already at like 66 grams and only like less than two grams of fat.
Speaker 1:Shrimp, garlic butter, garlic rice. I mean I had good macros, Believe it or not.
Speaker 2:When I cook my shrimp dude, I don't put anything in it. What, maybe a little salt and pepper? I don't. There's no butter, no oil or nothing, garlic butter rice You're fucking crazy. I poured over the rice. Oh yeah, baby, no fat.
Speaker 1:Butter, butter we're just so, I mean I don't I mean, yeah, flavor.
Speaker 2:It's not large, I mean large.
Speaker 1:So isn't butter made out of milk Dairy?
Speaker 2:Dairy.
Speaker 1:Isn't it dairy from whey? It isn't whey protein.
