Show Notes

Episode 088: In this episode I am joined by South Carolina’s Molly Binetti. We talk about Off-season Training for basketball and how impactful it can be for a player’s season.

Molly Binetti joined the University of South Carolina staff in June 2018 as the Performance Coach for the women’s basketball team, under Hall of Fame coach Dawn Staley. Prior to her arrival in Columbia, Molly served four years at the University of Louisville and one year at Purdue University coaching a diverse range of athletes from 11 different sports.

She is a proud graduate of Marquette University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology, and the University of Minnesota where she obtained a Master of Education degree in Applied Kinesiology.

The Eau Claire, WI native is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, where she holds the CSCS and RSCC, and SCCC certifications, respectively. She has contributed to two publications, both in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, focused on the mechanical and physical determinants of elite women’s basketball players.

Here are some of the questions I asked in the interview:

  • Brief overview of how she became the SC strength coach
  • How she builds a connection with her players
  • How she evaluates her players physically before the season
  • How a player can better their shot of making the team
