Keeping Your Business Healthy & Profitable During Uncertain Times

Stephanie Sims Season 1 Episode 5

During times like these brought on by the coronavirus, should your business stay the course or pivot? How can a business owner leverage their relationship with a banker to keep the business healthy? What should businesses be doing to make sure their Paycheck Protection Loan will be forgiven? As stay-at-home orders lift and businesses everywhere begin looking for answers to these questions, one thing is becoming all too clear: there’s no going back to the way things were.

In this episode of Financial Cents, host Brent Cannon sits down with two special guests to talk about how businesses can stay healthy and profitable during these times. Joining Brent in this episode are John Lewis, SVP, business banking manager at National Bank of Arizona, and Stephanie Sims, founder of Finance-Ability and author of the book “Funding Your Business Without Selling Your Soul.”

Discussing how to make changes to your business to stay profitable, Stephanie Sims says, “Hopefully everyone has recognized at this point that holding our breath and hoping everything goes back to the way it was is not going to work for any of us. So, as we start to think about what the future looks like, I would suggest that every entrepreneur – even if you think that your core business is solid – take a moment to reevaluate things.”

John Lewis goes on to talk about how your banker can be a powerful ally as you navigate the new normal, saying, “In times like this, continue to establish a good working relationship with your banker. Take time so they can continue to learn about your business, so they’re prepared to help you as you go throughout these transitions.”

Financial Cents, Arizona’s Financial Podcast, is hosted by Brent Cannon, EVP, director of community banking at National Bank of Arizona. In each episode, Brent and his guests give business banking tips that you could only get if you had a friend in the business.
