48. Never too young or too old to be the change with Felicity Graham
Felicity Graham was this years SA nominee for Young Australian of the Year!
She is a 19 year old advocate, founder and author. Her first book "Not Held Down" at 17, an autobiography about her time growing up in child protection. She has a second book due for release next year called "Oscar's Layers".
Felicity was 8 years old when she came into child protection with her older sister. After 14, she left her first foster family of 7 years and moved around between 5 other families, homeless shelters, cities and group homes.
Now at 19, Felicity has launched her advocacy company "Fostering Change Australia", which she hopes will grow worldwide. She shares her story to advocate for change in the system and educate the community on what and how they can support kids in care.
On of the many things she loves about doing advocacy and public speaking is being able to do it alongside other young people and getting to hear their stories of others in care also. We can make the biggest change when we all come together to unite our voices and advocate together our lived experiences.
Amen to that Felicity and thank you for sharing your lived experiences with us!
Enjoy this episode.
Much love always,
Ria
