Dental billing can look smooth from the outside, but that “smooth” is usually one person doing a mountain of detailed, high-stakes work behind the scenes. We’re sharing a quick, focused message about Dental Billers Appreciation Day and why it matters for every practice that depends on clean claims, accurate coding, and steady collections.
You’ll hear how a conversation with Qiana Craig (Ask the Biller) about Medical Billers Appreciation Day sent us down a research rabbit hole and revealed something surprising: dental billers didn’t have a day of their own. So we created one. That story opens up a bigger theme we live by in dental office administration and practice management, if you don’t see the space you need, build it.
We also get real about what the job requires: deep organisation, constant follow-up, tech skills across modern billing tools, and the discipline to keep up with changing codes and systems in today’s dental economy. Dental revenue cycle management doesn’t run on luck, it runs on expertise. Dental Billers Appreciation Day is July 20 every year, so mark your calendar and do something meaningful for the person who helps keep your practice financially healthy. If this resonates, subscribe, share it with your team, and leave a review so more dental offices start giving billers the credit they’ve earned.

Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of the Dental Billing Podcast. This is a shorty episode, and it is literally just to create awareness around Dental Billers Appreciation Day. If you are not aware that we have our own day, I'm here to remind you that we do. I created Dental Billers Appreciation Day back in May of 2022 after having a conversation with Kiana Craig, who is Ask the Biller. If you don't follow her on Instagram, go follow her there. She's also very active on LinkedIn. She is a medical billing expert that I follow. And her and I have
Welcome And A Quick Announcement
SPEAKER_00linked up in the past and recorded podcast episodes. In one conversation back in May of 2022, she was talking about Medical Billers Appreciation Day. And I got to thinking and I thought, well, we have to have a day. We have, I mean, somebody has had to have created it. And to my surprise, after I did my research, dental
How The Day Got Created
SPEAKER_00billers did not have such a day. So I created it like most of the things that I do throughout my life. If I don't see a space for something that I want, I create the space myself. As an example, when I was 12, I wanted to be a cheerleader, but my school had no cheerleading team. So I created one. And that cheerleading team is still there to this day. Now, fast forward to 2008, I was struggling to find front office individuals and I was searching through the Department of Education, through any type of post-secondary school. I wanted to know if dental had some type of front office school because, again, comparing to medical, medical had a whole certification around medical administration. You could earn a certificate as a medical administrator and work in the front office of a medical office. We did not have that. So I created it. It took me 18 months to create that curriculum that I
Creating Space When None Exists
SPEAKER_00then taught to individuals who would come and stay in California where the brick and mortar school was. I taught that curriculum for about six months. Six years, I apologize. Now, fast forward to this conversation with Kiana about Medical Billers Appreciation Day. I was so perturbed, to say the least. And I thought we have to create this. So again, I went on a search. I am a fact finder, so I can go down all of the rabbit holes. I will research and research. And this was pre-Chat GPT. So this was just tons of research on all the websites. And there was nothing that represented dental biller appreciation day. So you're welcome to all the dental billers who now get a day. Dental assistants get a whole week, hygienists get a whole week, everybody gets a week. I created a day. I want to remind you to celebrate your biller. Whether your biller works remote with a third party, celebrate that individual because billing is not easy. And sometimes we are so good at what we do. We make it look easy, but it's not. And anybody who has some experience under their belt will tell you that it is just not an easy position to maintain. You got to be super organized. You have to be tech savvy because in today's dental economy, you have to keep up with your codes, you have to keep up with technology in order to stay relevant
Why Dental Billing Is Hard
SPEAKER_00to the craft, right? So this shorty episode is to remind you that Dental Billers Appreciation Day is on July 20th of every year. Mark your calendar, save that date, and do something special for your biller. Now, with that, I want you to go and be great, and I'll see you in the next episode.
