Welcome to Meditation Drip, your daily dose of mindfulness. This is Julie, and today is day 16 of our 30-day one-minute meditation challenge. Today's meditation is for unburdening, which means taking off the layers of stress or anxiety or overwhelm or anything that you're carrying that you don't want to carry today. This practice is inspired by the word ataraxia, which is a beautiful ancient Greek philosophy that translates to freedom from disturbance or embodying tranquility. So let's go into meditation and unburden ourselves together. Find a nice comfortable place and let's begin with mindful breathing. Inhaling to the count of four. And exhaling also to the count of four. Feeling your body start to settle in and just take a pause to check in with however you feel today. So when we consciously remove the thoughts or the stresses that we carry in our bodies, we create space for feelings of calm, serenity, and even tranquility. So let's create this space. Begin to witness the thoughts that are burdening your mind space right now. We won't cling to them, in fact, we are going to release them. So as a thought that comes to your mind that you know isn't serving you, just see it floating away from you. Away from your mind, away from your body, away from your space. Now start to tune into your body. Guide your breath to any part of you that needs extra care or attention today. And as if you are taking off a too heavy coat, let any pressure, any stress, any burden that you are carrying upon your shoulders or within your body just melt away. For the next few moments, let yourself feel your mind and body free. At ease, embodying the tranquil state of ataraxia. And before you come out of meditation today, repeat these affirmations after me. My mind is free. My body is at ease. I am peaceful and tranquil. So practicing unburdening, where you literally shed the layers of the stresses, the worries, the fears, the overwhelm, all of the things is really good for your mind and your body. You deserve to take a break, to take a pause, and a gentle reminder that those thoughts and the feelings that you just shed do not have to be picked back up again. I hope the feelings of atoraxia, of tranquility are carried with you throughout your day. And I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for our next meditation trip.
