Ever feel like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing while you’re one awkward moment away from being exposed?

Welcome to imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is that  tiny little pip-squeak voice that convinces you that you’re not qualified, don’t belong, or haven’t earned your place yet.

In this guided meditation, you’ll learn how to recognize self-doubt without letting it make your decisions and remember that growth doesn’t require perfection.

Because feeling uncertain doesn’t mean you’re unqualified.

It means you’re still growing. It means you’re human.

Welcome back to another episode of In Case of Emergency Press Play. This is Adrian. Before we begin, you've been listening to us, and now it's our turn to listen to you. We want to hear from you. What topics would you like us to explore? Or what meditations do you need right now? Is there a story that you'd like to share with us? Send us your thoughts, ideas, questions, or experiences at wdpftpodcast at gmail.com. That stands for we didn't plan for this. Wdpftpodcast at gmail.com. Your stories have helped shape this community and they often inspire future episodes. If you want to help us grow, you can also rate, review, subscribe, and share. Now let's get into it. Have you ever felt like everyone else knows exactly what they're supposed to be doing while you're only one awkward moment away from being completely exposed as the idiot in the room? Well, welcome to Imposter Syndrome. Imposter syndrome is that tiny little pipsqueak voice that convinces you that you're not qualified, you don't belong, or you haven't earned your place yet. In this meditation, you'll learn how to recognize self-doubt without letting it make your decisions. And remember that growth doesn't require perfection. Because feeling uncertain doesn't mean you're unqualified. It means you're still growing and it means you're human. So when self-doubt starts blowing through your brain like a leaf blower with a personal vendetta, press play. Welcome to your practice. Find a comfortable position. Take a few moments to settle into a quiet stillness. Take a slow breath in through your nose and gently exhale through your mouth. Again, breathe in and out. Every time you exhale feel something soften, release or relax. There is nothing you need to prove for the next few minutes. There's nothing you need to accomplish. There's nothing you need to earn. Just breathe. Imposter syndrome has a funny way of showing up. It whispers things like, you're not qualified. You don't belong here. Sooner or later, everyone will figure out that you're making this all up. And somehow, despite your experience, despite your education, even despite the years you've spent learning and growing, that teeny, tiny little voice still tries to convince you that you don't deserve the seat you're already sitting in. Now, imagine that voice sitting across from you. Not as a monster or an enemy. Imagine a nervous, overprotected little passenger that's terrified you'll fail. Notice what that little passenger looks like. Maybe he's carrying a clipboard and frantically taking notes. Maybe he's wearing glasses and acting like the world's most annoying auditor. Now ask yourself, has this voice ever completely disappeared? Probably not. And yet, you still keep growing, learning, and adapting. You've survived difficult seasons, and you still show up. You've built relationships and helped people. You've made mistakes and you've kept moving forward. Take a deep breath in. And as you inhale, picture every experience you've had gathering around you, every class, conversation, challenge, lesson, success, even every failure that taught you something valuable. See all of these experiences surrounding you like a circle of light. These experiences belong to you. No one can take them away. Now silently repeat these words to yourself. I don't have to know everything to belong here. I don't have to be perfect to be worthy. I trust what I've learned and I trust what I'm still learning. Notice what happened in your body after repeating those statements. Does your chest feel a little lighter? Maybe your breath is a little deeper. Or maybe nothing changed at all. That's okay. This isn't about eliminating doubt. It's about recognizing that doubt doesn't get to make your decisions. The truth is almost everyone feels like an imposter sometimes. The difference isn't confidence. The difference is continuing anyway. Continue to show up, learn and trust yourself. Take one final deep breath in and slowly release it. Remember this. You are not an imposter, but you are a human being learning, growing and becoming. And that's exactly what you're supposed to be doing. From my heart to yours. Wherever you are right now, take a breath. Loosen your grip a little. Be bold. Listen and be impeccable with your words. Do meaningful work and leave things better than you found them. We didn't plan for this. But we're here.
