Happy Thursday lovely listeners!

We are back in your ears to deep dive into the universal pain of rejection.

Why are we talking about rejection?

Because it is a universal pain and it causes absolute havoc on us.

Our biology and the biology of our nervous system is modulated by the people in our lives. When we fear rejection, we run the danger of becoming people pleasers and abandoning ourselves.

Being repeatedly rejected as a child can lead to a belief that you’re inadequate. And these false beliefs add to the pain of being rejected and can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

We perceived rejection when we experience events such as not being included, accepted or approved of. Rejection in relationships happens when we have revealed parts of ourselves to others, and that part has been dismissed, or we have been perceived as not meeting a type of standard in some way.

Most types of rejection can feel brutal, especially since they go against our instinctive desire to belong, to feel seen and valued and respected as a human being.

In short, rejection is a sucky but normal part of our existence, which is why it's so important to understand + learn to look after this experience.

In this ep we chat through:

  1. What is rejection?
    - clarifying what rejection is
    - what variables can intensify our experiences of rejection?
    - chatting Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)
    - types of rejection we can experience (break-up, family member, being stood down from work, friendships)
  2.  Understanding the impact of rejection
    - why do we all avoid it so much?
    - what is the toll of experiencing rejection on our mental health?
  3. How to cope with experiences of rejection

We hope you enjoy :)
